something BAD just happened to my little girl I'm still shaking.... ok here what happen about a hour ago or so. We were taking our normal walk with my mother in-law (and Baliey, her little yorkie) and just said our good-buys by the park not too far away from our house.(We normally walk them home, but Sadie was acting like she was done and didn't want to walk anymore.) On Sat me and my little girl was out on a another walk and a BIG husky came acrose the street to us. I picked her up, and the owner came over. We had a nice little talk, they have a yorkie too. He was saying that his husky was nice and wouldn't harm Sadie, and he's really Good with their yorkie.(I still wasn't to sure )Well, on our way home we ran into his wife with this so called nice Big husky. She was asking about Sadie and how big she was and that's when he did it. He grabbed her up (they weren't even near each other) by her little head and started to shake her. I feel so bad, like a bad mom, I didn't know what to do, I wanted to hit him,but I thought he would bit me...(and I would never hit a dog) But I really didn't know what to do. The other owner was polling him back, I still had her leash in my hands. I was yelling at her to make him let my baby go. She yelled back that she didn't know what to do, I thought my baby was DEAD. She finally went flying, I grabbed her as fast as I could. Thankfully she was not bleeding. We ran home, I was crying and a mess. My mother in-law helped me look her over, It looks like he got her by her top not. There's NO punture wounds, she's lost a lot of fur on her little head but she is acting ok. I'm still thinking we might take a trip to the vet's, just for a piece of mind. She really is my little baby and I don't know what I would do if anything would happen to her!!!! Please everyone be careful on your walks, you never know what could happen.:animal-pa Sorry if there's mis-spelling, can't think.....Still a mess Amy and Sadie |
oh what a horrible experience especially for little Sadie. . . I hope she isn't gonna be traumatized and won't want to enjoy the walks again. :( It would really be good to just have a vet give her a thorough checkup just in case. |
OMG  poor baby, I hate when other dogs are around you never know how they are going to react. I can't even walk my babies in peace, I'm always on the look out for other dogs. I feel like a paranoid person, when I'm walking them like someone is out to get me, LOL.. I'm glad you baby is okay!!! |
So sorry to hear this ... I'm sure it was terrifying!:( Definitely take her to the vet as a precaution. I would send the bill to the husky's owner! I do feel badly for them though, too. It had to be a complete shock to see their dog doing that, especially considering they have a :aimeeyork of their own. Keep us posted. |
You poor thing! Happened to me in December....except it was a pitbull that got ahold of Phoebi. I agree with everyone else....call your Vet and make an appointment to get her in today. Way better safe than sorry. Hugs to both of you! |
How terrifying for you and Sadie!! I'm glad she appears to be okay, but I would probably also get a vet check just to be sure and give the bill to the husky owner. You are not a bad mom - it could happen to anyone! |
How horriably scarey for you all.:( I snatch Milo up whenever we encounter an unknown dog---big, small, doesn't matter. There's this big Golden in the neighborhood that will NOT stay in his own yard or listen to his people. Every time I hold Milo away in one arm while holding his collar awaiting his owner to come get him. Every time he tells me his dog is harmless and I smile and nod. I won't take any chances just so he feels better.;) |
Little Sadie was so lucky this time. How awful. I hope she's not afraid after this episode. You must have been frantic! What an awful experience for both of you. I hope she is ok. Hugs to her from us, |
Poor Sadie! I would definately take her into the vet; better safe than sorry. Also, I would then take the bill over to those people's; I feel they are responsible for anything their dog does and the consequences that follow. |
thank god shes ok, please everyone do not let your yorkies around any big dog... no matter what the owner says.... you just cant trust any dog, especiallly the big ones who can hurt them real bad.... |
That is just horrible!!! I can picture that dog doing to your baby what my Yorkie does with her toy! :( I would def. take your baby to the vet and tell this woman to pay for the expenses, or at least half. You could "threaten" to report her dog! I sure as hell would. Good luck! Hugs to you and your baby. Please keep us updated. :aimeeyork |
I'm so glad your Sadie is okay. I had a similar incident happen last night while we were on our walk but fortunately I was able to pull Hoku up by her leash/harness - toss her into the air and catch her in my arms - while the other dog was jumping, snarling and snapping. Scared the heck out of me! And the owners just stood in their yard screaming at their dog. Ridiculous! As for your Sadie, I agree with Rhapsody, I would have her checked by the vet and have the neighbor's pay the bill. |
I had a similar thing happen last year walking my dog thru the park (my Yorkie, who is not tiny but still small), we were walking past the kiddie playground and all of a sudden I see this black and white blur come towards us, the dog had broken away from the owner. I still had cooper on the ground at this point on his leash waiting for the owner to get her dog, when suddenly that dog lunged for my dogs neck and literally picked him up people came running etc. I was freaking but also not sure how to handle it, its a strange situation you know, you want to protect your baby but you don't want to hurt or get hurt or whatever, it just goes so fast. I am glad your baby is good but a extra vet check wouldn't hurt? |

Carol, I was thinking the same thing - hoping she won't be nervous and afraid from now on. |
OMG I'm so sorry it happened to you...You just have to watch out all the time with those little guys. I had 2 scares so far and I haven't even been to a dog run yet - after my Pepper was lounged after by 2 big dogs, I'm not even planning to take him where there are a lot of dogs off leash. Sad to say but I see big dogs running without leash a few times a week here in Queens. One of them is a K9 dog - a Shepherd and he's very well trained, but the other ones run around as they please  |
