Any updates on Sadie's condition? When I read earlier, she was thought to be OK - but then I read tonight where she was taken to the vet. Prayers going up for her................. |
|
Sadie I am so sorry to hear about Sadies experience. My little one had an experience with a black lab who was not tied and came charging out of his driveway when we were walking by on the sidewalk. Before I could grab her, he had grabbed her and shook her and flung her up in the air. I brought her to the vet's and she was bruised up but no bite marks thank god. Unfortunately it did traumatize her and she does not like big dogs at all and it takes her a while to warm up to small dogs as well. I know that it affected her as her first boyfriend was a rotweiller/doberman mix and he weighed 125lbs and they loved each other dearly. He went to the rainbow bridge before the black lab incident. I would definitely take her to the vet for a check up just to be sure. If I had to do it all over again I would have exposed Bella to big dogs again right away but since Fred had passed over I did not have a big dog to trust to do that with so I did not pursue it. I wish I had. But ask the vet what he/she thinks. I am glad to hear that Sadie is okay. Good luck, Jay :) |

Wow I was really hoping to hear of an update by now. I sure hope everything is all right. Thoughts and prayers are with yall. |

As I was reading this story I started to cry! It absolutely mortified me! The thought of another dog doing that to a precious little yorkie baby is soo scarey! It also made me realize that I am WAY too negligent with bailey. I NEVER think to pick her up when she sees another dog... I always let her sniff and jump all over the other dog, not realizing how dangerous this can be. Thank you and everyone else who posted about their similar experiances with their babys.... I didnt realize how dangerous other dogs can be, especially since my bailey is not even 2 lbs.... I will def. be more cautious now! -kelsie- |

:hands: really hope everything turn out fine at the vet visit. :aimeeyork |

back from vet Sorry it has taken so long to get back to you all (was just making sure Sadie was comfortable Before doing anything else tonight) The Vet. looked her over and said that we are lucky! They had to shave her head completely down so they could see how bad she was punctured. There's a few more than I thought, but only one is really bad. They gave us some meds. for it and also some pain meds. too. We have to keep an eye (or two) on her for the next couple of day, they said she could have more head trauma (brain swelling) that we can't see. This would caused by the shaking. But so far she does not show any signs of these:) The Vet also said that her top-not may have been what saved her. I had mention to the Vet. that I didn't know what to do, said if these should ever happen again kick the dog as hard as you can under the chin. I asked if this would kill the dog, she said no, it would take it's wind way. (I still would be afraid, I'd miss, it would bit me, I don't know)But it's good info. to have. I did call animal control, had to leave a message, Hope they call back first thing in the A.M (or I will call again) I went to the Huskies house after we got home, there was nobody there. So I spoke to the neighbor, they said that they had heard that this "nice" dog has actually killed another dog. I'm so thankful that it seems that she will be ok. I will get some Pic. of Sadie out tomorrow so you guys can see her little head. It won't be until the late afternoon, but I will let you see her little head. We had planned to go the Yorkie Fair, but with her little head looking a mess I'm not sure now.Thank you all for you prayers and thoughts, It has helped a lot!!!! I will up-date again tomorrow afternoon. Let's all hope (pray) for a good night. Thanks again!!!!!!! Amy & Sadie |

I'm so thankful to hear the good news - if you can say there is anything "good' about this horrible situation. Give her a kiss for me and thank goodness it looks like she will be OK - if not bald for a while. I'm so sorry this had to happen, you must be very very upset! |
|
Poor baby so glad that she is fine, will keep sending prayers to your way:hands: |

Will be praying for your baby until we hear she is ok; balder, but ok. Sometimes people refuse to believe that their dog is capable of terrible damage to our little guys; but we know, and have to be so careful all the time. I am so sorry for the terror you must have felt. Please keep us informed of her progress, we really do care you know:) |
|
Glad to know that she is being taken care of !!! My prayers go out to you and Sadie!!! Glad you called animal control!! and please follow up with them, if this nice dog hurt another dog in the past, animal control may have a record of that too if the owner reported it, if not please mention it to them!!! And the vet bill should definetly go to the NICE dog's Nice owner who should be very NIce and pay the Bill for his so called Nice dogs' actions!!!! Nathan sends licks to sadie and says be well!!! |

He has killed a dog before??? The owners of that dog are all at fault here! Please please please hold Sadie whenever you're near bigger dogs |
|
I'm so sorry for what happened to Sadie, and it must have scared you to death! I'm glad you took her to the vet, and I'm glad she's okay. I'll remember her in my prayers that she will be totally fine in no time. Please please mention to animal control that this dog killed another dog (if indeed that story is true, you know how neighbors sometimes gossip:rolleyes: ). If their dog did kill another dog, and they were trying to pass it off as a "nice" dog, they were irresponsible and negligent as dog owners not to be honest with you. And my hubby thinks I'm a little too overprotective of my little guy. Ha! |
|
I just saw this. What an awful thing to happen to your precious Sadie. I pray that she's ok. You did the right thing by taking her in as soon as you did. Please don't let this keep you from coming to Yorkie Fair. If Sadie's ok to come, it would be wonderful to meet you both. |

Glad things seem to be going fine. Will keep thinking and praying until she recovers |

Wow--people are amazingly frustrating aren't they? When my son was little I wanted to get him a dog as he was an only child. He was a typical boy--all ruff and tumble--so I wanted a dog that would roll with that. I found a cross---border collie/yellow lab. Both pure and owned by the family. I started training him the minute he was in the door. Squashed every attempt to use his mouth on me and started right in on, sit, down, up and stay. He was socialised at every op--ball games, etc---whereever there were kids. He is 13 now and still the most well behaved dog---you should see this big wieny with Milo when my son visits.:p However---if he had ever shown any signs of aggression towards children or other animals---he'd have been gone. Pets are still animals and always hold an element of unpredictibility. Sound harsh? I lived in a very tight knit cul de sac and my yard was always full of kids. I could not have lived with myself if anything had happened to someone elses baby-- furry or with skin. Milo has been socialised at every turn as well------we got lucky though, his natural tendancy---he loves everybody and everything--furry or with skin. Hope those people never have kids. *rant over* |

I am so sorry!! I am petrified of larger dogs around mine. He is a little thing but provokes them by growling etc. He really thinks he's a large dog. Best to keep him clearly away. I am glad she is okay |
|
i have a couple of friends who have large dogs that live with yorkies and other small terriers. ive known them forever and know the dogs so i let my pup say hi and play with them. they have a great time and the big dogs are very well trained and know to always be gentle. but i wouldnt trust just any dog, big or small. A yorkie in my neighborhood was attacked while walking by another persons COCKER SPANIEL who he thought "didnt need a leash".. |
|
You poor thing. You must have been frantic I know I would have, It is one of our main fears when we go for a walk, You should carry a stick most of the time all you have to do is show it to a big dog.Personaly i would not hesitate to whack a big dog on the head if it hurt one of my girls. I hope your baby is ok now. |

Whew! Glad to hear that perhaps a bald head might be the worst of it for your little one. That had to be one horrible experience for both of you. Hoping all remains well!:) |
|
 OMG  You had to be so scared. I am so glad she is ok. :) |

Praying for a total recovery for Sadie. If their dog killed another & attacked little Sadie I would be contacting animal control. I'd also be billing the neighbors for the vet bills. They need to know their dog is dangerous, even if they think it's not. |
|
I couldn't wait to get on here this am and check on Sadie. Thank heavens she is ok. I hope you both had an uneventfull night and got a good nights sleep. Look forward to reading how things went. Hand that vet bill right over to the owners of the dog and contact animal control if you don't hear back from them. You could save another's life. Hugs to Sadie, |

I am so glad she survived the attack but so sorry she has injuries. I'm so scared to trust what people say about their dogs.........oh they won't bite or hurt.............yea, well, each dog has a scent and it may just be the scent that turns that nice dog into an attacker. I hope all turns out well for your little Sadie!!! |
|
OMG how scary! I'm glad there were no puncture wounds. Tell your baby Rocky and I are thinking of her. |
