Prayers going out for your little Sadie right now! |
Poor little Sadie! Thank God you got her out of there in time. You did the right thing. If that dog had bit you, you wouldn't be able to take care of her. Quick thinking, not bad mothering! Prayers are going out to you all. |
I'd have kicked that dog's a.. I'm an animal lover big time but I have to tell you, if that was my Yorkie being shaken by that dog, I would have kicked the crap out of it. The husky that is. It's over with now and thankfully she's alive. If I were you, I would take your little one to the vet and have her checked over good and then I'd send the A.. hole the bill. This happened to my sister about four weeks ago. She lives in Dallas and was walking her small terrier in the park (On a leash) when some guy pulled up in his car, opened the door and let his two big dobermans out. They immediately ran to my sister and before she could react, one had Sabrina in her mouth. She kicked the dog and pulled Sab up by her harness. Sab. had a big gash on her back, but otherwise alright. She had her checked at the vet. Like you she freaked and didn't think and just ran off with sabby. She called the park and gave a detailed description of the car and dogs in hopes that they see them again and preventit from happening to someone else. The guy just kept yelling commands at the dog and then screaming at my sister that I yelled to you that they were not friendly. I mean duh, then why the hell did you have them running free. I sure hope your little one is aright. Elaine |

There are a few idiots in my neighborhood who let their dogs loose. I'm sure they think they will "stay in their yard". A cocker spaniel who repeatedly comes ACROSS THE ROAD to the other sidewalk to aggressively confront my boys. Also a poodle and my neighbors mix breed all have come charging out of the garage towards us, every time we walked. Sadly enough, I don't even walk them anymore. My back yard is big enough for them to get their exercise. Thanks alot idiots of the world! |
As AngelWorks said.... I just smile and nod when the other dog owner says their's is harmless. It does no good to argue with them..... sometimes they are "harmless" but it's not worth your baby's life to prove that theory. Tatum is always on her harness around other dogs and I've had to physically pick her up by the harness when a bigger dog would get a little too friendly. But these things can happen so fast. I know it had to be scary for ya'll. Praying for a good outcome at the vet! |
hope she is ok... |
OMG i hope she is ok that is terrible. |
Good thoughts & prayers going out for you and your baby. Please keep us informed.:( |
my friends maltese got attacked & the vet said that if it was shook she needed to bring it in immediately!!! It was also bitten & bloody. The vet said if they were shaken it tends to pull the muscles away from the ribs & it will fill up with fluid & they will die. Her dog had surgery & had tubes put in. Please take your baby to the vet!! |
Oh wow was she a lucky girl....Hold on to her tight and just thank the angel that was looking over her. I don't trust any dog these days.....I never realized how easy it is for one to do that until I had small dogs and I know even a nice dog can act on instinct.....I'm so glad she's ok. |
OMGosh!! Please let us know how Sadie is. Both of you will be in my thoughts and prayers. |
You may want to consider taking pepper spray with you every time you go for walks with your precious dog - I do. I have had one too many times with big dogs running toward me and once a Great Dane snatched up my 7 lb Yorkie but didnt cause any serious damage. I never ever walk without my pepper spray, why take a chance because if a big dog gets in a zone of attacking your dog, there may not be much you can do to stop it. |
Wow... How scary. I hope everything's OK. Be sure to let us know what the vet says. Prayers going your way... |
Hoping she was back from the vet with good news. I will check again. Finger's crossed and prayer's coming for little Sadie. |
Im so sorry. Id definately no matter how ok she seems take her to the vet. She could have internal damage and no marks outside to show it. I had a carin terrier chow mix once who got attacked by two bigger dogs in my own yard and he had appeared ok after the attack but i took him to the vet anyway and it turns out he was hurt he had to have stitches and sutures on the inside on his muscles or something like that. And he wasnt as little as a yorkie. Im not trying to scare you I just know my dog that got attacked didnt appear to be hurt either at least not badly from the outside. |
Thoughts and prayers headed your way. :nursing: |
I am so very sorry about this horrible thing that has happened. I am glad you are taking her to the vet -- there could be other injuries that you couldn't see. Sending hugs :ghug: |
This kind of stuff makes me so mad. I am so sorry this happened. Please don't feel like you were neglectful. YOU WERE NOT THE ONE WHO IS TO BLAME! The huskie's owner is the one to blame here. These situations even make me feel sorry for the huskie becasue he doesn't know any better and he had to depend on his owner to keep him out of trouble, but they failed him. I am just so glad your baby is ok. |
OMG!!!!!!!!!! I have a husky and she has NEVER attempted to hurt one of my girls! I would have just been devastated and I'm so sorry you had to go through this! I know when we go on walks we are always cautious when we see a stray dog and I always pick the girls up cause you just never no. You don't know the back ground of other dogs and they may be nice, but you just never no! I'm praying that your baby is fine and well! |
I'm soo sorry that happened to you- what a scary nightmare! I agree, it is my worst fear that an animal (hawk, fox, big dog) will get to my baby. I'm going to start carrying pepper spray or a flashlight- good idea  I'm so sorry you and your baby had to go through that- you have my prayers that your little one is ok  :ghug: |
I am sooo sorry you and your baby went through that. I agree with everyone that I would take her to the vet just to be sure. I hope not but there may be an injury you can't see. I am not one to call the police (or local SPCA), but I think I would this time. My concern is that instead of Sadie it could have been a child. Please keep us informed on your baby. |
i haven't read all the posts so forgive me, I am simply replying to the original post... I am so incredibly sorry for your experience. we had a neighbors dog kill one of our dogs when I was in high school. we had a little rat terrior mix and this dog was shepherd mix and he attacked our dog while we were on a walk. our dog was ok but then a few days later, i heard this awful noise and looked outside (we lived on 7 acres and our dogs would free roam) and much to my surprise, this neighbors dog was shaking my dog like a rag doll. my dog died that night. He seemed fine until that night...he just stopped moving and died in his bed. it was the weirdest thing. I dont mean to scare you but if you haven't already, please take your baby to the vet to make sure there is no internal bleeding. then kindly forward the bill to the owner of that husky!!! I do hope and pray your little baby is ok. I am going to read the rest of the posts now to see if there is an update...I will be praying for you and your baby!! |

"friendly" airdale I was at a friend's house with their big "friendly" airdale. I had decided against the visit and was turning around with my yorkie on leash. The airdale lopped over and I pulled my little yorkie into my arms by bringing him up by the leash and his harness. The airdale thought he was then a toy and in went my yorkie's head into the airdale's mouth. I too, didn't have a clue what to do but scream and people came and pulled his wet, unharmed head out of the mouth. Lucky for me this one was used to playing softly with ducklings and only soft-mouthed him. But I still have NO idea what to do when "approached" by a big, or roudy dog. (even a jack russell I met looked like he would eat him in a heartbeat. |
Please let us know what the vet sez when you come back. Puncture wounds by the ears sound scary ... I hope Sadie is fine ... how horrifying. Not to mention the trauma you are going ... itz just awful ... all good thoughts going your way! |
:hands: :hands: :hands: :hands: for you and poor little Sadie. Please keep us posted on how she makes out at the vet's office. |
Oh goodness--I hope we hear a good foolow up soon.:( Whomever suggested pepper spray---I will be ordering some tonight. |

I am so sorry you had to go thru this!!! My daughter in law just went thru this with her cat who was attacked by a neighbor's dog running loose!! we had to put her to sleep 3 days later!! I am glad your baby is alright but i would still take her to the vet, report this incident to the local police and animal control as incident report...what if it had been someone walking their child vs your baby??? you can never be over careful on this!!! Do you not have a leash law in your state? We have one here and the owner would have been cited by animal control and have to appear in court and probably pay a fine!!! I hope your baby is alright but don't just let this slide by..the next child or animal this "friendly " dog goes after may not be as lucky |
