Just and update, Katie and Freddie are doing well now. They get along pretty well, have even developed a little sibling rivalry it seems like. Katie got spayed a couple weeks ago, it was done via laporoscope so she bounced back real quick. |
I just love updates! Thank you and best wishes and huggles to the babes. :) |
Ah! Thanks for bringing us up to date with her. It's always nice to know how things work out.:) |
1 Attachment(s) Well Katie has lived with us for over 9 months now. Unfortunately she had to have all of her remaining teeth removed in October because the jaw had decayed significantly. But since the surgery she seems very happy and we're happy to have any bacteria or infection her teeth may have had out. She eats just fine. Recently she has managed to injure both her eyes (on separate occasions) when chasing bunnies in our bushes. We got her some doggles but she doesn't like those. We've also now fenced off the bushes. One of her eyes has healed, the other is improving. Other than those problems she's doing fine and she and Freddie are doing well. While Freddie isn't her best buddy having her around does seem to have made him act younger and have more energy. Attached is a picture of them, Katie on the left. |
They are both adorable. Katie looks very content with her situation. |
OMG how cute are they!!!! So glad that she is doing well! Thanks for the update :) |
I would grab that little doll baby up in a heartbeat :) |

It was so nice of you to update us.....sometimes we don't get that and I wonder what happened......Katie is so fortunate that you are giving her a wonderful and loving home......They are both two adorable and lucky babies! |
I love these types of updates. Thanks for posting pictures of your beautiful babies and don't be a stranger :) |
what a precious family you have! Thank you for letting us in and sharing :) Freddie and Katie are precious! |
Thanks for the update! We also rescued a little Yorkie girl about a month ago (is it just a month? Already a month?...LOL) Her and our first one Mitzi have the same relationship, Mitzi seems to be annoyed by Maggie sometimes but is more active and even plays again... |
It is with great sadness that I post that Katie passed away on 9/14/2010 at the age of about 9. She had had a dry cough for 2-3 weeks which our internist had treated with various antibiotics, she also had what we thought was a return of her inflammatory bowel disease about a week ago which resolved after giving her steroids. Over this past weekend her cough got wetter and she was admitted to the animal hospital on 9/13 because it had gotten so bad. Despite iv antibiotics and fluids overnight her pneumonia got worse and she stopped breathing while my wife and I were visiting her. Based on the doctors advice at that time we elected to have her quickly euthanized. A necropsy revealed what the Dr. called very diseased lungs, biposies are pending, hopefully they will give us an idea of what the cause was. Katie was only with us for 3 years and 4 months, but she loved us for every single minute of that time and brough great joy to our lives. RIP Ms. Katie we love you |
I am so sorry to hear about Katie. She had a wonderful 3 + years with you. |
We have a 2 pound yorkie named Bella who is 8 years old. She is in perfect health. The size does not really matter that much as long as the heriditary lines from the parents are solid. And the dog has been provided with a healthy diet and love from the previous family. Since she is from shelter you won't receive any info on her lineage but she sure looks great in the photo. A bit scared and confused from her new environment. You should ask for the vet check records at the shelter. The most comon thing to watch out for is luxating pettelas and liver shunt in Yorkies. Both are treatable but it can cost thousands of dollars and a special diet for the lifetime of the dog is sometime required. You would be taking that chance with any puppy that you took home and that is why there is pet insurance available these days. I would take her for a vet check immediately upon taking her home just in case if the shelter does not provide their vet records. |
