Now under 2lbs... Awwe crap...Chloe is now under 2lbs. In fact, she's only 1lb 14oz meaning she lost 4oz. She hasn't been eating well since we brought her home, we had just found a food that she liked and then it was recalled (Chicken Soup - wet) :( :thumbdown . Now we found a dry food that she loves! She inhales it, but she will only eat about 1/8 cup per day. I put 1/4 in her bowl at a time in hopes that she'll eat it all but she always stops when it's pretty much half gone. Then, I try to feed her for a second time and most of the time she won't eat it, sometimes she may eat a few pieces of kibble. Ugh. I tried homecooking...she doesn't like it. Not even chicken & rice??? I even tried lamb!!! She would sniff the plate, lick it, then run away. *Sigh* Just venting, thanks for listening...if you have any tricks to get them to eat a little more I'd appreciate it! |
Cottage Cheese mixed in or a bit of plain yogurt might help. Good luck to you. |

Thanks. Tried it, though, I tried mixing in peanut butter too :( |
Peeka went through a fase like this when he was little i bought about 5 different foods and tried them but the one he decided he liked was royal canine mini puppy 33 and Daisy was on eukanuba and she instantly took to the RC she didn't want the Euka after she tasted the RC lol. you can try some of those chicken baby sticks in the baby food isle also. |

LOL Chloe ate Eukanuba at the breeders & then Mommy mixed Royal Canin in w/ that to switch her slowly and that first piece of RC to hit her lips marked the end of the Eukanuba lol. Now she literally turns up her nose at it. No way in heck is she eating that stuff  But now she won't eat RC either... I stuck a chicken breast in the food processer for a while until it came out in little tiny balls...she won't even touch that. What are the chicken baby sticks? Are they made by Gerber?? Thanks! |
How old is Chloe?? My Tiffy is exactly the same weight but she is 10 months old so she eats puppy formula mixed with grammy's pot pie (both Merricks) and she inhales it! |

She'll be 6 months on Monday. I haven't tried Merrick's...is that a high quality? She loves the food she's on (Orijen puppy), she inhales it, she just doesn't inhale enough of it LOL |

Thanks! I'll try that!! |
Awww Sara, I hope you find a food that she likes. Does she drink plenty of water? She'll do just find, you'll see. I think if she didn't eat anything at all, then you should worry. Keep us posted girl. |
when you make homemade food, what do you flavor it with? Zoe gobbles homemade stuff on days she snubs her nose at dry or canned food. |
Why dont you try getting a couple of small jars of baby food (liver, lamb, beef, chicken) and mixing that in w/her food. It worked for me! Good Luck!:aimeeyork |

Thanks :) Well, I'm not really sure how much water she actually drinks, but she seems to drink enough...she doesn't have any signs & symptoms of dehydration...I'd say she goes through a 500mL bottle of water in about a week, but some of that evaporates, too. She loves the food she's on now, just doesn't have much of an appetite. She's not sickly or anything...it's just that she's lost those 4oz and at her size we can't really afford to lose that. |

I didn't flavour it w/ anything in fear that it was bad for her. I boiled a chicken breast & stuck it in the fridge for a while so I could skim the fat. Then I used that broth to make rice w/ carrots in it & I put the chicken in a food processer. Then, I mixed the chicken really well into the rice/carrots. She ate a few bites & that was it. Did pretty much the same thing with lamb, extra lean ground beef, and ground turkey. What are some safe things I can use? I'd prefer to homecook and use 1/2 the kibble 1/2 "real" food. Thanks!! |
