*UPDATE* Paralyzed Yorkie Tahoe First I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has been praying for Tahoe. The past few weeks have been extremely rough for a handful of wonderful people. Tahoe's story has been posted on numerous sites and people across the USA have kindly given themselves emoitionaly and physical to help support this little fella. Through the generosity of many compationate people sending donations to the Vet Hospital in Plainview, NY - I am happy to report that Tahoe recieved his much needed MRI today :) I talked to Kasia (Tahoe's Mom) this afternoon and I got a first hand report of how the MRI went... So as everyone knows Tahoe had his MRI today..the result is...it was a stroke...WOW ...ya thats what I said when I got this news...The Dr. gave him 50/50 chance of walking again she told me not to give up on him yet..but I will never give up on him regardless he will be walking or not...the time will show..for now there is really nothing we could do ...care and love and hope or the best..He is doing fine ..they were happy with the way Tahoe woke up after and how he is doing..I went by the hospital after work but they did not let me see him...tommorrow he is coming home so we will have him back...I got to tell you the house is not the same without him...I wanted to thank each and every one of you for everything ..without you this would not be possible..right now we have all the info and we know what to to next... Thank you for everything you are group of amazing people..Kasia Please don't stop praying for Tahoe, he is still not walking. Kasia told me that the Dr. says that he is not in any pain and he doesn't need to be on any meds. They checked his spinal fluid and all is good. He has one paw that doesn't have any feeling to it (oh I hope that will come back in time). The only thing they can do for him is theraphy. Val and Babybear are going through the same thing, Babybear slowly being able to stand for a few seconds on his own, so she is going to help Kasia with some water theraphy exercises. And she is getting some much help and support from the wonderful people on the congentialgroup, thanks guys - you did such a wonderful job. They are such a wonderful and caring group, again, great job! Again I want to Thank You all from the bottom of my heart. I have been involved with this from the start...what a ride...The support that was given to Tahoe is just unbelievable. I went to the Vet Hospital on Friday, Monday and by Tuesday the staff that works there was just blown away with all the daily donations that they were recieving via mail, credit cards and the cash that myself and other local strangers were dropping off. I don't think they have ever seen anything like that before  ...That's Yorkie Love For Ya ;) P.S. If there is anyone that has any helpful information regarding Strokes - Tahoe is only 1.5 years old - Please let me know and I can pass them along to Kasia. :) |
I am so glad that Tahoe got his MRI and that he isn't in pain. Will keep him in my prayers. |
I was wondering what happened to Tahoe - thanks for the update. We are sending our prayers and well wishes. |
Bless little Tahoe. |
awww...sending tons of healing prayers his way! |
it is very scary to think that he had a stroke but it is great news that they at least have it pin-pointed to what it is and that he is not in pain. He will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers. I appreciate the update. I am sure many people here appreciate it. |
Thank you so much for the update on little Tahoe. We will be praying for him and his healing. Toto sends sweet puppy kisses for Tahoe!! |
Tahoe's family is relieved that they now have some answers and also a path to follow. My heart still aches for this little fella :( I feel so honored though, maybe in the next few weeks, I can go and visit Tahoe and Kasia - how exciting :p ...maybe Tahoe will even give me kisses ;) ;) ;) |
Prayers for little Tahoe and for Kasia. They have a long road ahead of them but with Val's help, and Babybear's inspiration, the road won't seem so rough. Get well wishes and warm puppy kisses from Roxy and Remy, and me too. |
Thanks for the update on Tahoe. I'm so glad to hear that he isn't in pain. I will keep him in my prayers. |
Thank you sooo much for the update and for coordinating this effort...I've been thinking about and praying for little Tahoe. This thread has made me shed a couple of tears thinking about how so many people came together to help this little guy out. Thanks also to Val and her cute little Babybear for sharing their knowledge about water therapy with them. I pray that Tahoe and Babybear walk again someday :) |
A stroke at 1 and a half years old ?? That's incredible to me....poor little guy. I did send something last week to Tahoe - people here were so generous to me and I didn't think anyone would mind if I payed it forward....I did get a reply so I know it went to his care....I'm sooooo glad to have been involved even if in only a small way |
Thanks for updating us.I will keep praying for Tahoe. Kudos to you for helping out. |
Prayer's coming for Tahoe to be able to walk again with therapy. Poor little guy and only 1.5yrs old. Hang in there Tahoe we're praying for you to be well again. |
Debbie this is Tahoes mommy I just wanted to thank you for all support and help you provided me at this hard time..Tahoe is doing much better and I hope improvement will continue..Thank you again |
Nicole next week is fine for me Im working till 6 and I get home around 6;30 if its to late lets think about weekend...I live about 45 min. from LIVS...I spoke with someone at Livs about acupuncture for Tahoe and Im not really happy how they do it...in order for Tahoe to get the treatment I need to live him in day care and they will call me when his done its not easy for us to handle this..the acupuncture is price and on top of this day care charges apply and Im not happy to live him in there..that will put more stress on him not knowing what is going on...so Im looking in some places where they will do it by app. I found one clinic in Westbury and I will call them tomm...ps; I feel like if I have to spend $20 extra on day care for no reason I will put this money towards his acupuncture and get him more sessions... |
my thoughts are with you Quote:
If I am able to help drive you somewhere, I surely will. I was recently on Franklin Avenue and saw a vet there "AA something?" maybe that would be more convenient for you? My vet is on Jericho Tpk in Garden City Park ... they have a hospital there also, but I doubt if they have the MRI and advanced stuff like that. The place in Plainview looks very comprehensive to me. |
Debbie can you help me find acuuncture for Tahoe ...Im looking and looking and can not find it...if you know about any please let me know thanks |

I am taking Friday to the vet today, so I shall ask if they know anyone or anything about acupuncture ... or what the proper procedure is for a 1 1/2 year old pup who had a stroke ... I'll get back to you after 6pm ... Debbie |
Hi, I asked my vet today and she said there is only one acupuncturist on Long Island that she knows. His name is Dr. Wen and he is in Suffolk county, but I did not get the name of the place and I cannot find him in the white pages b/c I do not know the zip code. Maybe you can get your vet to tell you. However, it is still far from you ... http://www.peteducation.com/article....articleid=1334 http://www.theholisticvet.com/vet_acupuncture2.html Good Luck, Debbie |
Debbie that info you provided me about acupuncture and stroke just made my day!!!!!!!!! I know he will be walking soon I know it...Thank you Debbie |

YOU'RE BUYING ANOTHER YORKIE ?? http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=78381 I want EVERYONE TO SEE this. You don't come here and play on people ...TAKE THEIR MONEY claiming to have a sick dog and you have NO MONEY TO TREAT THIS DOG - then turn around and BUY ANOTHER DOG HERE     is there even a sick yorkie at all ? |
Hmmm...I was going to send $$ today. I emailed and got an address to send it to the other day...maybe I sould hold off?? |

DEF hold off...I guess we just bought someone a new dog...that's just not right to be asking for people to send money to help an injured dog claiming to have no money for vet bills......then putting up a thread looking to BUY another yorkie. |
Sure glad he is getting better... How is his momma doing? It's got to be tuff on you. |
I am going to find out what's going on here. Please everyone try to stay calm. Myself and a few other people are right in the middle of this. I have gone to the Vet hospital and Tahoe is Paralzyed and he still is. I have talked to the coordinater at the hospital who has confirmed all of this. On the other congentialgroup, Kasia did talk to me about a girlfriend of hers that has been looking for a yorkie and if I could recommend someone to her friend. I have sopken to Kasia on the phone as well as others too. I seriously doubt that she is that stupid to come on here looking for a yorkie for herself with all this going on. BUT...I will call her and find out what this is all about! Please hold tight and I will get you some answers as soon as possible. |
Thank you !!I just hope the money really went to tahoe....Did you ever actually see the little yorkie when you went there ??? |
