| My mom watches them. IMO, just because you have dogs doesn't mean you have to stop yourself from taking vacations. That's not just sensible to me.

| I have a question -- Exactly WHAT is a vacation? Most of our trips are "working" vacations and ALL of the furkids go with us. Our Yorkie herd has grown considerably since the last trip so I guess I would leave some of the kids at home and my adult son (very responsible) would take care of those remaining at home. |

| We have 7 dogs, 11 birds, and one cat so getting away every so often is a must! If our daughter can't come and stay to care for them, we have a very good friend and his wife come and stay while we are away. They are all fine, but happy to have us home again when we return! Martha |

| We have an R.V. so ours go with us. Makes trips less worrisome.

| This is always an issue in my home. My last daughter left for college so now its just me, hubby and 3 furkids (and parrot). My Parrot I board but I've never boarded the dogs. I do have a friend from work who will come and stay at my house if I need her. Over and above that, I really try and force the issue to include the dogs in our vacations, be it camping, or renting a place that accepts dogs (ie: cabin). We are actually in the process of checking out RVs to purchase that would accomodate my dogs. My golden is 11 so hard to say with her, but the little ones are young yet. I work for the airlines too, but its too hard to travel by air with a golden and two smaller dogs. I just kinda get in the mind set that they are like young children and they just go with us, unless i find a reliable sitter!!! Kathy |

| If I have to fly, I don't take her. My Mom watches her. My Mom is the only one I really feel comfortable leaving her with and even then I miss my monkey.

| I took my last yorkie to my Vet because he had to take a daily medication and I wanted to be sure if anything went wrong he'd be in good hands. This time I found a great small family owned daycare and boarding facility for yorkies and other small dogs near me. |

| Anytime I've taken a vacation I take both of mine with me. They are small and can both fit in one carrier if needed. If you're flying just make sure you are flying with an airline that allows pets and make sure you go there before your flight to find out all the details. Some have specifics as to how big of a carrier you can take on or if you can only take one carrier etc. |

| I'm sure I'm going somewhere this summer, and I'm very worried about leaving the furkids behind, but I know that it isn't healthy to be with them 24/7 and deny myself a fun vacation. I'd love to take them, but honestly I imagine it would be more stressful for them to come w/me than to stay here. So, I've got a list of really detailed questions to ask kennels/boarders, ect to see what my options are and what the best fit for the pups will be. I'm hoping to find somewhere I feel really comfortable with, or else I'll have to find a friend or family member to stay with them in my home..=) |
