I think of all of you when I walk Buddy in the rain holding the umbrella with one hand and holding Buddy in the other keeping him as dry as I can. He weighs 13.5 lbs and my wrist is broken when we get to the dog walking area. I always tell him, damn why did you get so big, your killing me here:p |
A gallon of milk weighs 8 pounds. I don't take mine everywhere with me, but I certainly could if I wanted to. Good luck with your new baby. I know you will be overwhelmed with love no matter what the size. |
Kitty is 7lbs. and she goes everywhere with me. She's very portable! Alot of the time Alexis goes to and she weighs 3.4lbs. So that makes about 10lbs. of weight.:) I think my purse weighs more than that. LOL! |

To answer the portability question, my bestfriend's yorkie is about 5 lbs and u'd be surprised at how small that acutally is.. i thought he would be alot bigger, but he fits right into those smaller dog carrying bags. |
5lbs will still be very portable. Truth be told, my guy is about 11lbs (fit and trim) and he is quite portable. Now, granted, I can't fit him into a cute little purse or anything, but he jumps right into my car, sits in his carrier and off we go. My biewer is also bigger then I anticipated (he is about 7-8lbs) now, he goes too. Ultimately, I wanted more to the size of a 5lb but it just didn't turn out that way in either case, so I make the best of it and they are the best troopers. How exciting for you to be gettin a new baby! |
Please understand that your breeder is only guessing, your dog could weigh much more than 5 or 6 lbs. My breeder promised me my dog would weigh only 6lb. and she is 11 lbs.! Now my 6 pounder looks small and is certainly very portable, actually all my dogs are, even my min pin who weighs 13 lbs. I am glad to hear you will love your dog no matter what size it turns out to be, and congratulations on your new puppy! |
All my dogs are under 10 pounds. The littlest ones can go in a tote bag; but I really like the stroller--it saves my hands. After a half-hour even holding 2 2# can hurt. |
My Dad's Yorkie, Toffee weighed 7 lbs. She went everywhere with him - to work, shopping everywhere (except for "food" places), on vacation by plane, from South Africa, where he lived, to Europe. He said that after I left home, she became his Baby Girl substitute... He used to go sailing at least 2 months of the year to various islands, and his Toffee went with him...... she had better "sea legs" than me, his skin child...... I tossed my cookies for every wave that rose over 2 feet....LOL:confuse2::tongue036 |
