Please think of Oscar today... We are on our way for the "double whammy"....Oscar is getting neutered and having 6 teeth pulled today. He is 8 months old and I think we have waited long enough for the teeth to come out. We went to the vet last week and he said they would not come out on their own. He also said that Oscar was undershot on his bite and was not breed quality, so we are having him nuetered while he is under for the teeth. I hope he will bounce back. All of the teeth are either the top front tiny teeth or the canines. Will this affect his eating hard food and if so, what do you guys recommend feeding him not to ruin him to his desire to eat dry food? I thought of just wetting his dry food...your thoughts on this would be appreciated. |
I will be thinking of Oscar today. This is common practice to do the baby teeth with the neuter, that way they only have to be put under once. He might be a little soar for a day or two, I would just soften his hard food a little if he doesn't seem to want to eat. But that should pass within a few days. Are his adult teeth in behind his baby teeth? If so it shouldn't take him too long to go back to hard. Hugs to Oscar. ...Theresa & The Boys :rose: |
GOOD LUCK and best wishes for Oscar - ! |
Oscars Mom - I just noticed your siggy - I would be arrested if I greeted everyone like I greet my girls....or committed !heehee ! :D Good luck again ! |
Our thoughts & prayers are with you as it will probably be a long day for YOU & Oscar - hope everything goes well & Oscar is up & around in no time at all!!! |
I'll be thinking about Oscar today and hoping he has a speedy recovery! |
I will be thinking about Oscar today . |
Me too My little Milo is getting neutered today also. So, I feel your worry and pain. They are keeping him over night and I already feel lost. It will be a long day and night. |
You and Oscar will be in my prayers. I'm sure he will bounce back to his new self in no time. :getwellso Smitty |
:aimeeyork I will have Oscar and Milo in my prayers. I hope everything works out and they have a speedy recovery. Please keep us posted. |
Thanks to everyone for your well wishes. Milo's Mom I hope Milo does well with his surgery! I do know what you are going thru, but they told me that Oscar could come home anytime after 3:30 today. Some vets just require overnight stays I guess. And Theresa, yes his adult teeth came in right behind his baby teeth. The ones on the top front are the funniest as they look like shark teeth...you know how they have two rows of teeth! I will let you all know how he is doing when I get him home...thanks again!!! |

If I did that I would be making out with everyone I greeted!! LOL I hope Milo & Oscar are both ok!! I'll keep them in my prayers!! |
I just got the call from the vet and Milo is in recovery and doing fine. Now, just to wait the long night. Thanks for your thoughts. Oscar's mom, I also hope Oscar comes through in flying colors. |
Milo's Mom...I am so glad Milo did so well. I hope he is home with you very soon. I have still not heard from Oscar... I am going to call them and see if they just forgot to call me or what is going on...OK...I just called them and they said he just woke up and that he woke up really quickly and that he was walking around and doing fine. I pick him up after 3:30 and then it will probably be a lot of "mommy hold me"...and I will be happy to oblige him! I am so relieved...I don't want to go thru this again! |
Oscar's Mom.... I am so glad Oscar is awake and doing fine. I am also glad this is over. I have worried about this for some time. I wish I could get Milo today but that is their policy and I guess he'll be in good hands. I noticed you were from North Alabama. Where from? I am from Madison/Huntsville. Small world. |

Debbie- I am sure Oscar will be just fine. Tino was neutered when he was eight months also and he has his teeth pulled too! He was a little groggy the first day, but just fine the next day. |
Oscar is home and very groggy and so, oh so pitiful! He whined in my lap all the way home. He is definitely clingy, but is happy in his bed right now. He has not made a move toward his water or food but he did go pee outside when we got home. He tried oh so hard to go to his daddy when he saw him out in the yard so I had to carry him down there to him. He will be fine, he is just worn out right now. I took a towel with me and I am glad I did. He cries whenever you touch him to lift him, so I just wrapped him in the towel and he did not cry. We have pain meds so I guess he will be slow for a couple of days. Thanks again everybody for your thougts today. This is the best place around...everybody REALLY cares! Oscar sends sloppy sugar to all... |
awwe glad to hear he is home and everything went well when i had sebatain fixed he was back to himself very quickley give oscar extra special love hugs and kisses tonight |
I am so glad to hear both Oscar and Milo are home and on the road to recovery.. |
I am happy Milo and Oscar made it through their surgeries!! I hope that their recoverys are smooth and quicky.. Mocha sends licks and kisses |
i will be thinking of him. my suggestion would be what you do with puppies. soak their dry food in hot water for 5 minutes. it makes it softer and easy to chew but they still love it. i hope he will bounce back quickly!! ;-) |
Im so happy that Oscar and Milo are well and in the road to their recovery after the surgery. Please keep us posted. Guci send both a lot of soft puppy kisses. :) |
Milo is home and doing fine. He was so happy to see us. He keeps trying to get those stitches though. They sent home one of those e-collars but he still has no trouble getting at them. I thought about getting those onesies that I have read on here but not sure about the whole potty part. Any how, we are all happy now. :) |
Glad to hear Milo is doing so well after surgery. How is Oscar feeling today? |
Hope both Milo and Oscar continue to do well! Happy to hear they came through just fine :D . I won't have to worry about that when Maxx gets older. I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. He was neutered last week at 8 weeks of age when they also did his hernia surgery. I just spoke with the breeder's vet this afternoon just to double-check that he was a healthy little boy. She said he is all fixed up and ready to grow up into a healthy little man. Can't wait to get him home and to my vet though. Have fun spoiling your little men while they're healing:). :getwellso Milo and Oscar!! |
Glad to hear that Milo is doing so well today and that he is finally home! I know you are happy to have him home with you! You might want to check with your vet and see if you can get some nasty tasting spray for Milo's stitches. They use it to deter animals from licking bandages and wounds. He told me to spray it on Oscar if he was licking, but he has not licked that much. Oscar has staples...don't know if that makes any difference. Oscar is doing really well. I have to make him rest tho. He is almost back to his old self! Last night, I crushed his rimadyl (pain med) in yogurt and he lapped it right up. I was afraid he could not chew the rimadyl, but then he went over and ate his hard food! He is peeing and pooping normally and getting around very well. He acts like his bottom is sore, but his mouth has not given him a moments trouble. He has been chewing on his hard Cheweez like he never had 6 teeth pulled yesterday! I am very glad I had the surgeries done, but am also very glad that it is over! He has been a real cuddler today...he is not normally a cuddler, so I LOVE that change in him! I hope he stays this way! The old Pre-Yesterday Oscar was very independent and hardly ever took the time for LOVE! But now he is being a clingon!!! Again, thanks to everyone for all the kind thoughts for Oscar and Milo on their tough day! |
