| ![]() For any of you that have any experience with this please help...I usually have Maximus' ear hair pulled at the vet but since he needed his nails cut also..I brought him to a groomer in my neighborhood that my neighbor uses..just to cut the nail and hair in his ears...today when I went to clean his ear after the bath he freaked out.......he even barked, growled and started trying to bite me....do you think the groomer hurt him?....I am nervous now and if that is the case should I call even though I can't prove anything?..I have never seen him act like this he was really really scared ![]() |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() Oh shoot honey ! Keep showing him lots of love and gentleness and he will eventually respond to you....That's awful and the reason why I Finally started grooming my 2 girls - I had a similar experience about 2 years ago - I took Chanel to this RITZY Pet Groomer who worked out of a really NICE Pet Hospital - they seemed great and with a hospital staff looking on - I thought it was ok - it wasn't. When I picked her up she CRIED everytime I touched her side - I was FREAKED out - I called them to find out what happened and let the hospital staff know. She had already been to 2 different groomers and never acted this way - Chanel was NEVER the same in the car - the next time I took her out she whimpered and cried - She had LOVED going in the car till that groomer got ahold of her - It took months of car rides to have my happy girl back The next groomer I took her to made notes on her chart that they thought she had been treated roughly somewhere else ....I had never told them about that other groomer...to this day... I want to go give that woman who hurt her a slap. |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | ![]() I don't blame you - I was devestated when I realized Chanel was mis-handled and was SO SCARED to go to another groomer - Chanel is an ANGEL at the vet and groomer so I knew they really did hurt her. I checked with my vet and asked them ask their yorkie clients what groomer they went to - Finally I was referred to a groomer an hour away and went there for a while -they are the ones who could tell she was probably treated too rough.....After time - I decided I just need to do her myself and this saves all the worry. The other thing I did was take Chanel in my car - We had a 'LETS INTERVIEW GROOMERS' Day....together we walked into 3 different groomers that were close to my house. I asked the questions while watching them and how they were with Chanel. I let HER show me if she liked them or not - she only responded to one woman and I did try her - I wasn't to thrilled when she cut Chanels feet wrong.... It's REALLY REALLY hard finding a groomer you trust AND like ! The only advise I can offer is try to find someone who really trusts and likes their groomer - and try going there - I have a groomer near me that a vet refers the more fearful dogs to - he seems really nice but I haven't tried him...I found him the day I just walked into a couple of places with Chanel - The other thing I would do is write that groomer a letter and make sure who ever she works for gets a copy - Also - Check SEVERAL Vets and ask them if they can give you a name to try and explain what happened - some vets know a gentle groomer and can help you.

| ![]() I started grooming mine a couple of months ago. Everyone seems to busy doing their job to care about my baby. I did not like the way they cut the guys last time, so I went and bought a pair of Wahl pet clippers. I saw a little battery operated set on one website for 14.95 - they said it wouldn't nick the ear? I haven't ordered yet, but they seem good. I am shaving their bodies close for the summer, and leaving their head and legs long. I think it is cute, and every time I do it, it gets easier. At first I was really whacking them up because they refused to stand still, it took three tries to clean them up good. Twice one day and once the next. I could have gel'd their hair and made them punkers that day.

| ![]() I have a mini poodle now, and although these people at the groomer looked so nice. I went to pick her up, and when I got her home I noticed she actually had cuts on her skin. I brought her back, demanded my money back, and told them I would never come back. People can be so mean. |

| ![]() A similar experience like yours happened to Shania . I was very busy and didn't have time to bath and groom her for a dogshow weekend . A person I know highly recommended me a groomer . I let Shania for one hour , when I went to take her back , I came face to face with a Chihuahua . Shania and I were very mad . I'll spare you the worlds I told her . I walked out without paying for the grooming . She sued me for recovering her money and I won my case . I guess , I've been lucky for this one . Since this day , I have decided to always groom my little ones . |

| ![]() I was aggrevated at the vet when I took the babies to get their tails docked. The girl asked how I wanted their tails. She wanted to put the babies in back to wait for the vet. She didn't like me following her back there, she wanted me to wait out front. I brought Zowie and my son (to take her outside) and I thought the puppies could wait with their mom and me - plus I wanted to talk to the vet first. We have been using them a number of years, but I think they are getting too big to suit me. I may have to vet shop soon. Another tech came and took us to a room to wait for the vet, she is very sweet, but I don't know why everything has to be so commercial.

| ![]() Pirogue was my first Yorkie and I shopped around for a groomer who had done Yorkies. I was recommended to a woman who had her own Yorkies and groomed them and others. The first time I took him all went ok. The next time I picked him up was the last time. I know it wasn't her fault, I have groomed poodles into fancy cuts and I know how spooked some dogs get with the clippers. She cut a small chunk out of one of Pirogue's ears. I wasn't mad at the time, I understood. But I thot she put a lot of the powdered stiptic(sp) on him. She said she "clipped" him. A chunk is not a clip! I thot she meant that she had cut his ear, not removed a piece of it. I am still not mad at her but she won't get a second chance. I would expect the same if I had done it. Another groomer cut his nails too short and now he shakes when I try to trim them. He's come a long way to get there, he used to fight me really hard. And at 8-9# he's really strong. I like to take my new babies to a groomer within a few days after I get them. For 2 reasons, one I want them to get used to being groomed and if they are going to bite, snap or fight I want to know about it without being hurt. The groomers I take my babies to either have gone to school or have been doing grooming for years. They know how to handle dogs who might be high strung. My last two babies haven't been to a groomer, yet. I plan on bathing all my babies myself and leaving them until they just have to be trimmed. I like my babies feet trimmed like a poodles, except the hair that hangs down over their feet doesn't get trimmed. The last time I took Lady in I asked that her feet be trimmed like a Poodles and didn't specify that the overhanging hair shouldn't be cut. Boy, did Lady look funny for a looooong time. LOL |
