No Longer a Member | How exciting. Just remember, they often don't eat much for a few days when they are in a new environment. Do you have some puppy nutrical on hand? He will cry all night for about 3 nights. Are you going to be crating him at night? If so, other than for potty breaks, don't go to him when he cries, and it will not last long. Chloe cried for 3 nights: ALL NIGHT LONG on the first night; about 4 hours worth on the 2nd night; and about 2 1-hour cries on the third night. After that, it was all quiet. |

| i am so thrilled for you!! i agree that the puppy will not eat and was so concerned about this that i took him to the vet two days later just to have him looked at again to make sure he was fine! she gave me a tube of the nutrical and that seemed to get him going. romeo did not cry one single time that night once we got him settled in to his crate. i was shocked!! he is such a good boy!

| I wouldn't have any visitations for at least a week. Make sure the puppy has a quiet place to rest. Take the puppy to the vet as soon as possible to rule out parasites, such as: worms, coccidia, or giardia. Congratulations on your new puppy!

| As excited as you may be about your new arrival, please refrain from throwing a welcome-home party! Remember, your little companion is in a strange place, surrounded by strange faces. Because dogs are natural pack animals, don't segregate your new pet from the rest of the family, or she may feel as if she's done something wrong. Rather, keep her with you, play with her, cuddle her, just let her learn that she is part of the family. When you first walk in the door with your new pooch on her leash, take her to the room where she'll likely spend most of her time, such as the family room or kitchen. Let her sniff and search and explore her new world. In the kitchen, show her the food and water dishes you've got especially for her. Show her her toys and her bedding. Let her know how happy you are that she's part of your family. (TIP: Let your friends and family know it, too, by sending out personalized announcements of your newest addition to the family!) Don't change your new pup's diet right away. She's already nervous, so feed her the food she's used to eating. If you want to change her food, wait a week or two, then gradually introduce the new food. Your dog's diet is important if you want to keep her healthy and active for many years, and we recommend Vet Balance. It's the easiest way to give your dog that optimal nutrition, no matter what her diet is. It's helpful if your new puppy has something, such as a toy or even a towel, from when she was with her mother and littermates. Something that has the smell of "home" on it. With all the excitement, your dog will likely need to go to the bathroom before long, so don't put her on your brand-new rug or carpet, or she may piddle out of excitement! Now is the time to introduce her to her designated toilet spot outside. Be sure this is the spot you want her to use, because she will return to it over and over again. Try to keep young children at bay until your new pet has had a chance to relax in her new environment. And if you have other pets, introduce them gradually. Hope it helps |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Congratulations !!! and I'm no expert but whatever the breeder has been feeding him is generally the way to go ...you don't want to change foods when he's going thru so much coming to a new home - most breeders will send you home with food and tell you how they prepare it ...then you gradually change him over if you want to feed something else....and please remember all the foods on the recall list too !! GOOD LUCK ! |

| Congrats! I got my Holly about 1 week ago. She didn't cry at all at night, but she did eat very little on the first day. The next day she ate up all her food and was running around. She has one potty break at night at around 4 when my husband wakes up and then I let her out around 8 when I wake up. This site has sure helped me a lot. Thanks to all the people here, My Holly is now potty trained after just one week. I guess a lot of us are all learning together so I can't wait to share more with you about our little babies. Congrats again! I'm so excited for you. Can't wait for the pictures.

| No advice to offer as I just bring any new member home and within a few days they seem to adjust. My older members of the family take a little longer to warm up to the newcomer, but after that it's one big family!!! I can't wait to see pictures of your little boy. My last few babies have been girls, I am thinking I need a new little boy to.
