Bettyeanne and TOTO need your help Do any of you Live near columbia MO This is what Bettyeanne wrote: Patrick hasn't been feeling well and yesterday we decided to stop in Columbia to stay the night. We stopped around 2, thinking we would just take the afternoon to rest from driving. He was having pain in his stomach. Later on, it began to be excruciating! Since we can't leave Toto in the room at the hotel and didn't want to leave her in the car, he was just going to take a cab to the ER and get checked out. All the cab's were tied up so one of the girls at the hotel desk took him to University of Missouri Hospital ER. He was there until after 2:30 AM undergoing tests, CatScan, etc. and they diagnosed it as Diverticulitis, gave him pain meds, antibiotics and prescriptions for more. He felt a tad better this AM .... I got the prescriptions filled and gave them to him. Around noon the pain was so unbearable he was almost screaming and could hardly stand up. Scared me spittless so I threw he and Toto in the car and rushed him back to the ER. I had no choice but to leave Toto in the car in her crate and ran back & forth all afternoon cooling the car down and letting the AC run!! She was mortified! I am just desperate because they insisted that Patrick be admitted and I have no idea when he will be released. I spoke with Cindy [my daughter-in-love] this afternoon and she said she and my son would come up and get her this week-end but it's our granddaughter's Senior Prom and I cannot allow them to do that. Prom is a big deal and I won't make it home but I won't let them miss it! Geez ... I'm rambling ... sorry! I don't trust anyone with Toto but thought if we had a YT member here in Columbia, I would trust them with her. Right now, I'm just beside myself and will probably be thinking more clearly tomorrow!! If any one can help Please PM Bettyeanne thank you |
Oh, that is so scary! If I were closer, I'd be there in a heartbeat! Someone here is bound to be in that area and willing to help out. Sending lots of get well prayers for Patrick!! |
I wish I were closer, too. I would be more than happy to help. I've know many people with diverticulitus and it can be terribly painful. I pray that Patrick starts feeling better soon. |
Thank you Angie I Am still trying to help and looking like crazy all the members I have found that live in MO are either to far or not on :( I guess we'll just have to keep this on top for a few. |

Are there any pet friendly hotels in the area or maybe reputable doggie daycares just till Patrick gets better.Glad you got him to the hospital. Best of luck! :roses: :roses: :2hearts2: |
oh good! looks like help is here... do you have her phone number daisymae? i hope someone does |
Quick thought...if there's no YT members close, how about contacting a local Vet's office? Maybe they could put her in touch with a pet sitter or somebody who could help out. I would love to think, under the circumstances, most people would be willing to help. |
Excellent idea to call a local vet and she is in a bind. |

I do Know some people in sedalia it is a littl over a hour away. But I don't think they would beable to get there. I am so frustrated I should have got her #:questione |
I am at work and don't need to spend a lot of time on the phone. What if someone calls the hospital and just asks to have a note delivered to Patrick's room asking her to call me. I will PM Daisy Mae my cell # if anyone could do that. I'm still waiting to hear from my friends that are close to Columbia but I would like to go ahead and talk to her so I will have a contact # for them ... sorry this is so short ... my boss is waiting for me to come into his office  |
I'll try does any one know her last name? |
I found it!!! I'll call now ! |
Oh good. Help is on its way I believe. Good for you guys. This really shows that YT is just a big group of careing citizens. One big family. Sending my prayers for Patrick. Let us know how everything turns out. |

Update. I am absolutely overwhelmed!! I knew YT'ers were wonderful but now I know they are!!!! Patrick is feeling better today but the doctors want to keep him for at least another 24 hours. They are aggressively treating the Diverticulitis with IV antibiotics. They said it will begin to work faster than the pills and they are right .... he is already responding. He still has temperature and occasional chills but it's so much better. The pain is actually manageable now and he isn't asking for medication .... men are so tough! What we are hoping to do ... get him discharged tomorrow, he will rest here in Columbia for as long as he needs to and then we will finish the trip. My son is ready to come up and drive the truck & trailer home and pick up his "little sister, Toto", but I am hoping that won't be necessary. I can't remember who suggested calling the vet hospital for a recommended "sitter" for Toto, thank you from the bottom of my heart. They actually said that under the circumstances they would keep her there at the hospital but the lady I talked to had friends who own a grooming shop that she highly recommended. I went over and after talking to her, I left Toto there and I am so happy that I did. She was just the perfect little lady and stayed in her little crate. Jocylyn [sp?] sat her crate on the counter where she could watch everything that was going on and took her out to potty and she was very content there. Lori [daisy mae06], Louise [Bonnie's Mom], Susie [Tink's Mom], Mary [mcsyzzerz] .... I can never repay your kindness! If there is ever anything at all that I can do for you all, please, please don't hesitate to let me know!! I have never been through such a frightening ordeal in my life and just knowing that you all were there for us was just so comforting, you will just never know how much!! I love all of you! |
It was me Betteanne who thought of calling the Vet. I am so glad it worked out for you and Toto. Warmest wishes for a speedy recovery for your husband. |
