What do you think of this little girl? 1 Attachment(s) What do you think of this little girl?? She is 5 weeks old in this picture, do you think she will have a short noes? And do you think she will stay black and tan?:) |
it is so hard to tell. do they have pics of the parents? her nose does not look very long to me, but as for the coat...can't really tell. they change so much as they get older. pics of the parents is really your best way to judge, i think :) sorry i'm no help :) |
That pup is from fantasy yorkies, right?. arent they a USDA breeder? |
I asked the same question when i was looking for a puppy about the color but everyone i talked to said that rarely do yorkies stay black and tan as adults and that the only way it would be possilble is for both parents to be black and tan. So i think the puppy will most likely change colors when it gets older. |
Yes she is from fantasy what is a USDA breeder? |
I don't think they are supposed to stay black and tan... also, for some reason, fantisyorkies.com is setting off a bell in my head....I know I have heard something about them...I just don't remember what...maybe someone else here will know. |
I have heard that they change colors when they get older but this lady said that this pup is pretty dark and she will probably stay Black even though both her parent are not black and tan. |
1 Attachment(s) Well she is pretty cute! I think we got ours at 3 months and she was pretty small now when she sets down she is as tall as a 12 in ruler. I hope that she will not get much bigger. Her nose seamed to get a little longer and her hair went from black to silver back to black and her head is changing to brown. I am excited and can?t wait to see what she ends up looking like! Maybe your new one will change too. I read somewhere that the color changes several times before the real color comes in.:animal-pa |
all yorkie puppies are dark mine is to and she was prolly alot darker when she was younger. |

theres a whole thread about them. the USDA sais they must keep their dogs outside in a kennel. ive heard of people getting healthy, happy pups from her, but supposedly she does have many many dogs. |
She is just darling!! She has a nice coat and her ears are already up. As far as her color goes, well no one would know what the end result would be this early. What do her parents look like? |
Are you sure that puppy is 5 weeks old? She looks older than that to me. Just my opinion, I've had a couple of litters and she looks more like 8 weeks or more. |

Well, she is awful cute, no matter what age she actually is! |
Her dad is black and tan and he is very cute! And her mother is silver and tan. I have been trying to attatch their pictures but it won't let me:confused: |
2 Attachment(s) Okay, I finally got it to work... Dad is on the left and mom on the right |
She is very cute, I love her face. I could be wrong but I don't think she will remain dark after seeing her parents. It's hard to tell but it looks like there are already light roots on her head. |
it depends on both of the parents but from the pix it looks like she will change but she doesn't look like 5 wks old more like 8 wk old or more. ;) |
She's adorable! I think you'll make the right choice... I'm curious to know at what age they get to their final color.... :p |

age I do not think the pup is only 5 weeks in the photo... |
that puppy is at least ten or twelve weeks old. be very careful!!!!!!!!! |
On their website, that particular puppy is posted as having been born on Jan. 13. So that is around 10-11 weeks, right? |
I have always thought Bold Hero was blue and gold and it looks like Cali is also. From the pictures they look blue to me but I could be wrong. Did Shirley tell you they were black and gold? The puppy is a cutie. I like Dixie on that page. She is very cute too. They always have cute puppies. I thought about buying one from them before I found the breeder I bought mine from. |
What a pretty girl. Can you get some pictures of the parents or grown siblings from a previous litter? That will tell you what she'll look like better than anything else. I think the nose will stay short; but her color very hard to predict. My Yorkies are a year, they had almost identical coloring when they were puppies, but Rhapsody is turning more and more silver, and Tiger is staying gold and tan. |
Sorry, I didn't check the second page before posting. With her mom having so much silver; it's possible she'll have some. It's just so hard to predict color in puppies. I know I didn't help, lol, sorry. |
Hi, she's very pretty! Its so hard to determine what color they may be in the end. My one girl Trixie will turn 2 in September and her body is still as black as can be and her head did get lighter. Her daddy was silver and tan and mommy like her. She had two brothers in that litter and the one changed to look like the daddy and Trixie and the other brother remained dark. So I guess you never know  |
I can share my little tale. My breeder was listed with USDA, which I thought was a great selling point. LOL. She really tried to build this up to me during our conversations on the phone. After getting Bijou and $1,000 for vet bills I am coming to the total realization that she is a puppymill baby. This lady breeds 13 different breeds. The lady lied about her age, or at least the vet that examined her estimated a younger age based on her teeth. I only tell my story in hopes of saving one person from being so dumb as I was. I paid a fortune for this dog. I now see I could have purchased from some great breeders, AKC registered, dogs raised in the home, ethics, values, morals and the list goes on. I have went to the USDA site and found another breeder I was considering. Farmer's Yorkies in Kansas. Their last USDA report/inspection showed she had over 200 adult dogs. WHAT!!??!!! And that was completely acceptable to the USDA person doing the inspection. Unbelievable. |
Usda USDA is excellent when dealing with livestock, but not so good with domestic animals like dogs. They have very strict laws..dogs and puppies can not be raised in the house..the breeder has to have a separate kennel...Yorkies and all dogs need lots of hands on the frist few months before the owner gets them... |
