outside yorkie is it ok to keep a yorkie outside. were i may get my yorkie from she keeps him outside in a big pen and durring winner she rapes it in plastiec real good and put a heat lamp in it is that ok |
Why would you keep a Yorkie outside ? I would never consider letting one of my puppies with someone who will let it outside . Even in a big pen . |
thank you for telling me that. well this yorkies is only used to being outside what would i do????????? he loves being outside |
I WOULD NOT!! They do not like the heat and get cold very easily,, I do not like dogs; any dogs, Penned or tied outside,, Not much of a life,, Dogs need interaction and companionship.. I get very upset about this ( but it is my opinion) But I fight alot with my dad, about this,, he has a german shephard that is tied outside 24/7... WHY??!! what kind of life is that? Would you want that? But ,Yorkies are way too little of a breed to be outside,, and they NEED people! |
Would you stay outside all the time ? It is ridiculous to hear , he is used to stay outside . No dogs ( big or small ) should stay outside . |

Yorkie books and dog ownership books are helpful, and plentiful. |
Its truly sad that someone kept a yorkie outside all the time. Your lucky hes not sickly. Don't continue to keep him out. Yorkies can't take the weather and need companionship. |
We wouldn't let any rescues go to be outside dogs especially not toy breeds. |
thank yall but when i let him outside we dont have a fence becouse we have a lot of land what would i do |
I know everyone's responded but I wanted to add too. These guys are so delicate. It's beenn cold here lately and I left the window open the other day. I came into the living room to find little Chewy shivering! I was so upset with myself. Please stay inside. |
Walk him on a leash until he learns to come back to you. Maybe walk him on a leash all the time! He'll get plenty of exercise running in the house and on your leash walks! Congratulations! :) |
It is not only is the weather a problem but other animals getting in the yard. My dog Comic love laying in the snow and sometimes I would have to bribe him to come back inside but I would never consider leaving him out doors. What happens if a storm happens at night while the owner is sleeping? I don't know of any dogs that like thunder and lightining while in the safety of a home never mind being out side. |

I would also like to add that if the dog is a barker it could cause problems. When I was a teen my girlfriend's Yorkies were poisoned after neighbours complained about them being left in the yard to bark for hours. I would not risk leaving a small dog in a yard for hours never mind for the rest of it's life. |
my neborbs are far away from here and no 1 hardly comes down are rode |

I can't imagine Zsa Zsa and Jade outside . |
How big is your yorkie? It is is a larger one and you don't live in an area with hawks, you could get a doggie door. My yorkie LOVES to be outside. He is also very large - 10 pounds at 6 months (I love it). With the doggie door, he can pick if he wants to go in or out. He makes NO potty mistakes since we have had that doggie door. One thing to note, if you have a small one and he/she is very young...I would wait to do this until it is about 5 months old. You mentioned you don't have a fence...perhaps put the fenced doggie gate around the back door? |
[QUOTE=yorkielover_201]i going to get it and house trine it so i will have hard work to do this becouse he is two years old[/QUOTE Are you already discourage ? Nobodies have ever tell it was easy to train one . I don't know but it might be better to save your money and wait for another . |

No dog should be an outside dog regardless of breed, size, age, anything. Don't get this woman's dog unless she GIVES it to you for free and gives you all the supplies and toys that she has for the dog. |
Shelters are full of dogs , having owners with good intentions . Poor little six pounds Yorkie . |
she is going to give him to me for free becouse she loves me and i am like a daughter to her |
I know you seem set on getting this dog...but like Stewies mom said unless you are getting this dog for free with his VET RECORDS and all his toys..it may be better to wait. Just from the lack of human contact and being outside all the time..he may have some issues (health or otherwise), that you are not prepared to deal with...due to the lack of companionship, constant cold etc..and I would hate for you to have such a huge heartbreak after waiting for the yorkie of your dreams... |
Okay well I just saw your post...so next questions for you to ask her and take notice of..did she brush him regularly..is his coat in good conditon?, is he up to date on all shots and does she have has his medical record for you, what kind of food does she feed him?, how often does she bath him and what are his favorite toys and treats? |
