Venting time...and also a rescued dog!
 

So, today, a guy at work asked us office girls if any of us wanted a dog. His wife rescued a dog from next door, and she was a yorkie/maltese mix. She was about a year old, and about 6-8 pounds. I kinda wanted her, but I also have my eye on a puppy already, and I knew that one of the other girls in my office is interested in a dog. So, I tried to talk her into the dog, and then the guy at work said he would bring her by for us to see. Well, when he FINALLY brought her by, as I was dying of anticipation, my friend decided she would take her and I was getting really jealous because she was SO CUTE! I wanted to take her home. :( I know that she went to a good home, but the story they told us just broke my heart. She basically had to live outside, even in the rain! She would bark and bark, but her owners never let her in, and they would shove her out if she tried to come in. It just made me want to cry. Why do people get these dogs and just leave them to fend for themselves? It is just plain awful! Arg!

Well I am glad she is in a good home now and Just think when you get your baby you can have play dates :)

anybody turn those people in? too many people are getting away with treating dogs this way and need to start getting punished heavily for doing it!

As long as they fed her and she had access to clean water there probably isn't anything that can be done to those creeps unless they physically abused her. At least that's the way it is in our county.

So glad this little dog found a good home where she will be safe and comfortable. I know of a little Bichon (about 12 pounds) who lives outdoors. His name is Samson. His owner became ill and had to go into a nursing home and a male family member took the little dog. Other family members where the man lives won't allow the dog to come inside. He stays outdoors in the rain, snow, cold, whatever (it does get very cold in East Tennessee). I don't know if he has a dog house and warm quarters or anything. Just breaks my heart! I couldn't find out the people's name or their address. The contact was through my groomer when a vet tech brought the dog in to be groomed. They had brought the dog to the vet for some reason and the vet tech offered to take it to the groomer for them because the little dog was so dirty and matted. My groomer couldn't find out any particulars either, just the circumstances and how the little dog is living. I tried to contact them through the vet tech and offered to buy the dog, with no response. I worry constantly about this little dog and remember him in my prayers every day! There aren't any laws to protect him as long as they feed and water him and provide some shelter. I have held my two pampered, much loved, spoiled little Bichons and cried thinking about this little guy. If I knew where he lives, I'd go steal him!

AND, I get to babysit her this weekend :) !

I get hysterically angry and sad when I hear about neglect cases, etc. I kind of try to avoid them whenever I can because they freak me out so much.
