You know I do give bully sticks but watch them closely! I have stopped buying almost all chews but CET chews for the teeth and even watch them with those as well! Bottom line is the possibility of choking is always there! If they like them to much they swallow them whole! I do like them to have a treat but it just not worth the worry sometimes. I like to give them some natural treats and break off really small pieces and watch them till they are done! I had a choking incident not long ago and never again! |
Pigs ear I give my pup soft treats only, and I haven't seen anyone post this on here yet, but also our pet store here in town sells Pigs ears...they are like rawhides, only triangular and my puppy will chew for HOURS on it...,.sometimes I sit at night and hold it for him. never do pieces break off. Just an idea for anyone looking for new treat/chew toy. Keeps the hyperist puppy busy for a long time. :animal-pa |
Soft chews I just don't go there! That's what my dogs choke on every time! They don't chew they inhale! Pig ears gets the pack crazy! They become demons! |
RE: Pigs Ears I was just reading that Pigs ears make the pups hyper, that explains why My baby runs around like a nut at night growling...geesh...Well I have to come on here and read more thats for sure....now I don't know what to give him, They gave me the pigs ear at the pet store and he loved it and I never thought twice about it......looks like Im gonna look for something healthier.:( |
I'm so glad your little one is ok. I will definitely stay clear of those! Thanks for the warning. |
I was thinking about buying some of those, but now I'm glad I didn't. I feed Beggin' Littles and have never had a problem and my yorkie is only 5 lbs. |
Princess loves pig ears & used to eat them but after about a year of eating them she started choking on a piece she bit off. Her diet doesn't allow for them anyways, but I'd never give her another either way. |
I don't give mine any treats except small doggie bones and Nyla bones, I take those away after they have chewed on them until they get small. My dogs had dry food that I thought was a size they could eat, but one morning Sassy, my baby, 6 lbs was eating, they also inhale, came around the kitchen counter and fell on the floor and staretd jerking and kicking. I thought she was having a seizure, I jerked her up screaming and crying. Her head fell on my chest, I thought she had died. I started the heimlich maneuver ( found it on YT). She jerked up and started wiggling and was ok. she was choking on her food. I was in the floor crying and thanking God for saving my baby. I have never been so scared. I no longer put their food down, I hand feed them and changed to petite kibble. There was a post on YT the other day where the she came home and her dog had choked on his food and died., while she was gone. |
