| Hello, introducing myself & my yorkies Hello, I am from Indiana. I am proud yorkie owner of two! I have a male (full blooded) and a female who is a yorkiepoo. They are both wonderful dogs with beautiful temperaments. They are sweet and loving! My female is pregnant right now. I am not exactly sure on what to do as far as the birth goes, but the vet said that she should be fine. If any of you have any suggestions on what to do for her before she gives birth, please send me some advice! The vet told me to put her on puppy food until she's done nursing, give her plenty of exercise to build up her stomach muscles for pushing and to make a bed for her to have the babies in, since she will probably end up giving birth in the middle of my bed...she sleeps with me. I asked the vet what to watch for in case of signs that she's having trouble delivering, and he said if she starts to strain or has gone into welping and has done nothing for 2 hours to seek medical attention. I've had other dogs before that have given birth, but they were much bigger than she and had no difficulty. Since she's so small, i'm sort of worried. My male is a full blooded yorkie w/ papers. He's pretty much a little bigger than my female, with thick hair....he looks like a teddy bear, so thats why his name is teddy. Well, if any of you have any suggestions or advice on the birthing process for yorkies, i would greatly appreciate your help. thanks yorkiemomma7 |

| thanks for the warm welcom :Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'm sure someone will have some advice about the birthing thing.....She will be due on or around April 1st. From the time i calculated, but it could be like a few days off. The Vet said 59-63 days...i counted 63.....so i'm in the neighborhood of it... Glad to meet others from Indiana! I will have to check the boards about the convention....i would like to attend one. yorkiemomma7 |
