AKC registration... what is your opinion? I have been hoping to register Haruka on AKC but not being able to do it :( What is you guys' opinon about registration? I know some people don't care about registration and some consider it like a birth certificate for dogs. I just want to hear what you guys think. For me Haruka is a wonderful existance and I would love to register... |
Have you tried seeing if you could register her ACA? |

I like having my babies register.. When some one ask me if they are register and I say yes..I sounds good... Kinda snop-sh..but it is the truth.. |
American Canine Association is what it stands for. Here is the website for registration, it has a Q & A type of section best I can remember. www.ACAinfo.com Phone # 1-800-422-1864 |
Pixie and Maya are AKC registered, Cali is not registered as she was registerable under APR or somehting like that but I never bothered registering her since it wasn't AKC. Pixie's breeder really wanted me to register her under my name as AKC since she had already registered her. She said it was her birth certificate. If a puppy is sold as AKC then you shoud be able to register her. |
Since I'm not planning on breeding mine I don't feel it's necessary to register them. Does it really matter if I do or not? |
We registered Mia, and got her pedigree. They're both sitting in the file cabinet. It was nice to look at for a minute when they arrived in the mail, but I highly doubt I will take it out and look at it again for a long time. I doubt I will register a dog again, unless I decide to show. |
I used to think it was not necessary and I didnt register Jewels but I still have the paperwork. But with all the thefts of yorkies i dont feel its a bad idea to have their apperwork so you can prove you have a yorkie terrier if you need to ifsomeone has your dog it might come in handy. I am planning on sending Jewels in |
Oh, I never thought of that! |
registering papers! yes i would do it ! try ckc there really good about it ! when i got buddy he is akc well i bought the big package the hole works ... well then after time buddy seemed like he need a friend ! so we wanted another 1 so we got maddy well shes ckc and i send it in for just the main stuff well... come to find out if i do want to breed them i need them registered the same .... so so the only 1 that would take one of them was ckc ! so akc wouldnt take maddy cause she was ckc so after paying for buddy papers akc i had to copy them and send them and money to ckc i had to call them ..they sent me a paper i sent copy of buddys and money to register him ckc so they both would be in case they mate so i can get papers to litter ....so be care ful when u buy or u will have to do something like this ! but it wasnt hard to figure out ! easy!just akc lost out and ckc will gane:aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :animal-pa |
i thought your breeder's dogs were AKC? I love AKC and would not have it any other way. |
Ya, my breeders' dogs are AKC, and Haruka should be able to registered as "limited registration" after I send her breeder the receipt for spay. It has been a couple months since I sent her the copy. I checked in with her a couple weeks ago, and it seems that she sent it while back. The mail must have been lost. I am still waiting to see if it would be forwarded back to the right address. I still want to register her before her birthday on 20th. I don't know how I can register her without any documents from the breeder. What does AKC need for us to submit to register a dog? |
Hey Michiko!!! I think I might have registered my first dog but since I've never had a desire to breed it's never really meant anything for me. I never even bothered with the others. I have all the papers (purchase, pedigree, licenses, microchips, etc.) so I'm not really worried about proving I own them. If you're inclined to do it... go ahead! You can always frame it for the wall or add it to her blog for posterity... yours, of course! :D |
Skippy is CKC registered, but to tell the truth I wouldn't care if he was poo poo registered. I just love him a whole lot. |

OH POO. I say just say YES if somebody ask if your pet is registered AKC if somebody asks:p what are they going to to ...insist you show them paperwork in the middle of Petsmart or something:p :p :p |
How about just being honest and saying no, but he/she is pure bred, if they are. |

AKC all the way.....If ya got it flaunt it,lol!!!! :D |
i got akc to ! it doesnt matter! Quote:

My opinion, if I could register them breeding or not, I would. |
the reason! no, when i got buddy i new he was akc !and when i got maddy i know she was ckc but when i started to send out papers i got to looking in to breeding at the same time just in case they did ! so when i found out that akc doesnt accept any dogs all ready register in another name {registery}they dont take them [accept] ! so i ask maddy, ckc and they do but u have to get his information from akc to send to ckc! so they can put it on file for if the do have a litter! so in the long run buddy is both akc and ckc and maddy is ckc and now i will be able to register a littler if they have 1! better safe then sorry! |
I have a CKC female and a AKC Female..it is easier to get CKC papers GEE..All this C.K.C & A.K.C. & A.C.A is.. N.U.TT.Y :p L.O.L. D.E.B. |
THanks, guys for all your response. I am going to wait and see if I get documents from a breeder by mail, then I shouldn't have a problem. It seems like mail must have gotten lost. |

If you aren't planning to breed or show, then registration is just a waste of money. No one will know or even care except you. |
Since you do have an AKC-registerable pup, I would send for the papers. Dee already gave you the info you need to register even without that application from the breeder. She should have a record of the numbers you need. I would not register with places like ACA -- they are just making money for registering the birth. It really does not mean anything. With AKC you are contributing to some worthwhile canine programs with your fee. You are also getting some assurance of a pedigree, although it is still much dependent upon the breeder's integrity. Too many breeders flocked to the off-shoot registeries because they did not want to be held accountable to AKC. I would only go with AKC or Canadian Kennel Club (not the other CKC -- continental kennel club). But I am sure there are others that are loyal to something different. This is jmho. |
If you aren't going to breed, then I see no point in registering...unless you just want a nice certificate to look at. |
