HUGS your way sweetie!!! Would it make you feel better if I told you I was going thru the same thing? My mom isn't an animal person and can't understand why I love Zoe Brooklyn soooooo much! She says 'why are you wasting your time and money on a dog that will never grow and learn like a human child' why don't you have a real child? Why do you dress her up like a child when you can have a real one? I just roll my eyes....and get so annoyed. What's wrong with loving a dog so much? Especially when they make your heart warm and make you laugh or snuggle when you are having a bad day. I too am not in child production mode yet....but you know what...whatever makes you happy girl...don't fall into the pressure. |
Hi, Just wanted to say, I have five dogs. I love them dearly. I became a mother for the first time at 39 years old. I adore my son more than anything in the world, but I love my dogs. It is like having small children around again. I can't truly say my fur babies are the same as a child for me, but they don't miss it far. And, I lost my just turned 17 years old niece last March suddenly and still grieving over her. She was an only child. Since my son will be 20 April 1, he is grown up and my little furbabies have been my comfort and given me so much love this past year. I needed that more than you know. Love your babies and I too use to worry about what others said. When I became a mother at 39 I thought I had to be the oldest mother in the world, but guess what? I met so many women my age, 1st time mothers and we had a wonderful 1st time Mom suport group. Live your own life honey. Molliemae and Abbi's Mom Jan |
Well, I'm not reading any replies until I tell you what I think, so if I am repeating please forgive me. ANYONE that wants to push their views on you (that everyone should have children, and dogs are ONLY dogs) isn't a TRUE friend. We should all accept our friends/family the way they are (except if they're criminals or something:laugh: ) Love accepts;) As long as YOU are happy, they should be happy for you:love: |

I know exactly how you feel. I'm 26, I'm not married, and kids do not even cross my mind...except when one is screaming at the top of his lungs in the grocery. I'm totally happy with my life as it is, but as long as I don't have those two things I get the feeling my family thinks I'm not really living my life and they never take me seriously. Okay, so maybe the fact that my dog is wearing clothes and riding in a stroller doesn't help that, but still. And seriously, people really need to get over that. Yes, my dog is wearing clothes! Grrrr. LOL So, know you are not alone. Lots of hugs. :) |
Hugs to you Potter :bighug: I get wierd looks from my family and friends for the way I treat Tetley too. But to me, he's my baby! It's especially hard for me right now because my younger brother's wife is pregnant...giving my mom her first grandchild. Believe me, I've got the hints of guilt directed my way that it should have been ME to give her a grandchild. But I'm happy with my furkid right now, so everyone who thinks to guilt me about that can just go take a long walk off a short pier. ;) |
I really need to talk... I know that with me my animals are a big part of my life. I have 4 dogs, a weimaraner, a pit mix, an over-sized chihuaha(spelling) and my yorkie, also a min. rabbit, and my animals are my best friends. They're always there when others aren't. Like boyfriends etc. so they are very special to me. They aren't mean or hateful, they listen. So people that don't understand this relationship they've never had it, so don't feel bad, feel fortunate.:) |
:wink3: I understand my hubby and I we don't have kids, but we are happy that people ask us if we are dating or they even think that we are younger for some reason. Before we had Pheobe (our yorkie) people just rolls their eyes or make wierd faces because we spoil our two cats, and now that we have Pheobe I can only imagine what they are thinkig or saying, but you know that we don't care, what is matter is that we are happy with our life. |
Potter, I/we have 5 children,(skin). My children are all different, our oldest daughter has 2, however we have raised her son since he was 3 days old, he is now 21, she should have never had children, her life is her animals and thats fine. Our middle daughter has 3 children and loves it (3 kitties too). Our oldest son has 1 child and is content (no animals). Our youngest daughter and her hubby have NO children and are fine with that, they did have 2 dogs, she just recently lost her little min pin Molly..Youngest is still single and loves his little girl JoJo (furbaby)..No way would I expect any of my children to have babies..If someone asks WHY, let them know that it's YOUR choice....Love life and be Happy with your choices......:aimeeyork :cat:  |
