Big Dog Name
 

When we got our little Yorkie boy, he was so small, about 1 pound. I thought anything that little needed a big sounding name to boost his ego. So we chose Samson. Little did I know that he was already a "big dog". It just took a couple of weeks for it to emerge.

My old roomate had a gorgeous persian cat named Chloe and I always loved that name eversince. I named my Chihuahua Tinkerbell because I just always wanted a chi named tinkerbell and now I regret it because of Paris Hilton. My husband wanted the name Penny for our Boxer and the interesting thing is her breeder lived on Penny Lane so it seemed like destiny that we picked that name :p

Its kinda sad how I ended up getting my Uno :( I had been calling breeders and just getting information on yorkie pups, even though I figured I was never going to be able to afford one. So I called a guy who lived about 3 hours away and he told me the price and everything and I knew it was way to expensive for me, so I just told him I'd call him back. He called me back a few days later to tell me he now had a male and he was only 400$!! He had previously sold Uno to someone who was going to breed him and they found out he only had one testicle so they didnt want him anymore. :( (I really dont understand how someone could keep something so adorable for a week and not want to keep him forever) But anyway, thats how Uno got his name!!I love him so much, and if it wasnt for his "lone testicle" he never would have come into my life =)

I am new to the yorkie group. I am getting my new baby boy saturday. He is 12weeks old. I need help picking out a boy name..Does anyone have any ideas?

When I was 13 years old, a new girl moved into our block. She had an older sister who had a little girl named Desiree. It was the first time I had ever heard that name and (I don't know why) I just loved it. I proclaimed to everyone that my first girl was going to be named Desiree. Everytime I got pregnant my husband and I agonized over baby boys name because my girl's name was chosen years before. Well,, 2 sons later and many years later, along comes this beautiful little, teeny, tiny girl Yorkie. I took one look and said "This is my Desiree" hence..Desi.

I had Princess's name picked out LONG before I had her.
But my kids gave her the nickname Wookie, something to do
with Star Wars! :)

Hello,
I have a question for Trixie Bell's Mom, or anyone else who might have the experience of getting an older Yorkie female from a breeder. I am adopting a female, 3 yrs old, the breeder is selling her because she cannot stay pregnant. I am hoping she is sweet and loving as they tell me... What was your experience with Trixie Bell? I will not get my Yorkie for another month, since they are having her spayed first, but she has spent time in kennel for the first 3 years of her life. She deserves to be loved and pampered now! Any advice, Trixie Bell's Mom?

Harley was named after, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, my Mike loves his Harley Davidson (and I want to get one - one day) but i spent my down payment on Yorkies :eek: and Haley i guess for the same reason... there last name is Dzonko so that's were you get H.D.... you can say were Harley freaks !!!!! they even have Harley Davidson clothes..... My biker dogs ....

My boyfriend is a HUGE Cubs fan.....

Koochie: my late hubby had a Silky named Koochie(cuz she liked to cuddle and kooch) in honor of Koochie1, I have Koochie2...she's 9 now

Gizmo: from the movie Gremlins

Lil' Bit: she was the smallest of Koochie's one and only litter. We'd refer to her as 'lil bit' and the name stuck.

2 big, outside dogs that we adopted...Bear and Roxie

3 cats...Feisty is our OLD lady at 12, Simba & Nala, who we also adopted were named by my daughter from the Lion King.

When I was pregnant with my daughter (now 5), it was a toss-up between Hayli and Chloe. We went with Hayli. It will be a few years before we have another child and there is no guarantee it will be a girl so I decided Chloe would be perfect for my newest little girl.

We came up w/Cash cuz of Johnny Cash... plus it was the only name that fit after toying w/a few....

My little mans name is Cooper I got him 2 years ago...... :thumbup: We picked him from pictures of about 15 others. He was the smallest and I had a few names picked out before we actually saw him (he was the cuties one).... Long story short his name is Cooper (mini coop for short). Big heart in a little mans body. Ha Ha :cool:

We had several names picked out. But if you laid him on his back he looded like Gizmo from the movie The Gremlins. So we decided that was it. His full name is Gizmo Mogwai, Mogwai being the name of the Gremlins before they turned into Gremlins in the movie. He is definitly turning into a Gremlin.

Well I decided to name her Willow becaus ei love Willow trees and yorkies hair how it flows reminds me of willow limbs swaying in the wind

I was going through a hard depression a few months before I got Gracie, so I was really happy and excited about getting her and I wanted to give her a name that would make me smile and also symbolize what she means to me....so I named her Gracious Sunshine. :D

I used to love to read books by lisi harrison in the clique series and from then on, I've always liked the name Massie and Bean so I'm thinking of naming my yorkie something unique and cute like that [[Gracie, Rosie, Sookie, Hailey, Ellie, Hallie/Halle, Dolly, Skittles, and Bambie are other names that I have been considering]]

Our last name is LaMar so we gave our Yorkie the official name of "Princess Alexandria of LaMar", but we call her "Lexi". Our newest one that we got last week, came to us with the name Cricket. She's about the size of a cricket, so the name suits her well.

LOL, just sitting on the porch and trying to think of a good name, I came up with widget....must have read it somewhere, but after looking it up it sounded appropriate, and after looking at her awhile....she really does look like a widget....LOL:D

We had decided to use Jo as part of her name since my dtr got her to help her deal with the death of her Dad last xmas(Joe), We couldn't come up with anything we liked to go with it until the first time we saw her. Krysten was wearing a Roxy brand shirt and that is one of her favorites so.....RoxyJo it was.

Yorkie names
 

I have my first yorkie, had her a week and a day now. I had named her Maggie, but am now wishing I had picked something else. I find myself calling her Sugar Pie, Punkin, Maggie Poo-Poo Butt and Baby. I know most of my family and friends aren't going to want to call her by all the "cutesy" names. So am I stuck with Maggie, or should I just call her what I want and let everyone else call her Maggie? I like Sugar Pie, but I can't see my husband calling her that! :p

We should be adopting a little girl. The lady who has her now (4 years old - dog that is....) has named her Mimi. I am thinking of adding Miele to her name. It is French for "Honey." They are all sweeter than honey if you ask me.....

I came to this site and asked just like you did..........my baby was nameless for about a week, I called him pumpkin pie for that week, we called my mom and my fiance mom and asked for there 2 cents, and my fiance wanted to name him TO or Cadalliac after football players, I put my foot down on that real quick, so one day my fiance said what about Tyson......? It was OK but didnt think to much of it...............about an hour later I was off to go somewhere in the car and my mom called and told me she had just been to the grocery and was in the frozen food dept and picked up some frozen chicken something or other and saw the name Tyson and after she said that, I knew that would be his name, after hearing the same name within an hour of each other I thought that was my sign, and so we have Tyson John O'Brien(middle name after my fiance) and we call him Ty and it is so fitting, he is so cute and caught on to it really quick.....Now I am just mad tht Mike Tyson decided to come out of retirement the same week I named my Ty Ty because I dont want ANYONE to think he was named after tht goofball..........sorry if anyone is a fan of his, I personally cant stand him, but then again my Tyson thinks he is just about as big as Mike Tyson.....good luck with your new puppy. Mine gets better every day

My daughter attended Chico State and now lives in nearby Sacramento. I decided I wanted a small dog of my own after watching my son's bulldog for a few months, so my daughter found a breeder near Chico. The puppy was my Christmas surprise - and of course we named him Chico!

My fiancee plays a card game and the word Tribute stuck to me. Also reminds me of a tribute to my life-I love him so much. I also love star wars and sometimes call him my little ewok too....:animal-pa

Diesel
 

Vin Diesel! :D When we first brought Diesel home I knew that such a little guy had to have a really tough name. At the time the Chronicles of Riddick had come out and because Vin Diesel was just so darn cute we knew that had to be his name LOL :D I just can't imagine him having any other name. It just seems to fit him perfect now.

i think Maggie will be "Lola" now. I think it's a cute name and it just came to me last night. Now, if I can just stop calling her "Maggie"...:D

Naming your Yorkie
 

That is amazing, after having our Yorkie Pup a week, we have been trying so hard to name him, we had a long list, In the end we decided we prefered SAMSON, our oldest Yorkie (Who passed away 4 weeks ago) was called Max (a big dogs name) and so we had what you do, people finding it amuzing to see Max was a Yorkie and not a huge Great Dane or the like. Our other one who is 9 is called Levi. I like short names (Hence Max & Levi) but couldn't think of a short name that suited him. He was born on 13 August 2006 our wedding anniversary. :)
