Thank you for sharing the good news. I sincerely hope that these thugs are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and are given some serious jail time to think about the results of their actions. |

Yeah, I just ran across it and came on to post! Awesome news: BC-Armed Dognapping,0357 Yorkshire terriers stolen at gunpoint in Los Angeles returned to rightful owners LOS ANGELES (AP) - Four purebred Yorkshire terriers stolen at gunpoint during a home invasion robbery more than a week ago were returned to their owners after a man turned himself in to police. Three puppies, valued at $2,500 each, and a full-grown family pet named Tan-ja were reunited with their owners at the Wilshire Division police station Saturday night. One puppy remained missing, police said. Family members hugged and kissed the panting pups and left the police station with the dogs in their arms. The animals were recovered after Ryan Betton, 19, of Los Angeles, surrendered to police Friday night, Detective Luis Corona said. He was booked for investigation of residential robbery, police said. A videotape of the robbery that aired on local television brought in many tips, including telephone calls that sent police to the home of Betton's father, Corona said. "When the son came home, he confronted the son and that led to the son being brought in to the station to turn himself in," Corona said. A second man was being sought. The puppies had been advertised for sale in a newspaper and two men posing as buyers made an appointment to see them on Feb. 23. When a family member opened the door, one of the men pulled a gun. The men ordered the family of four to lie on the living room floor. A home surveillance camera caught the scene as one man held a gun and the other chased after the puppies with a plastic garbage bag as they scampered around the room and underneath a coffee table. He snatched one of the dogs from a woman's hands. No one was injured. Corona said before they were returned, the dogs were found in several places, including Long Beach. Authorities believe the robbers didn't intend to sell the dogs but probably wanted to give them away as gifts, Corona said. An LAPD official did not know if Betton had legal representation. |
Oh man... I missed that one puppy was missing... I thought they got them all back! Hope the little one will get turned back in! Thanks Mike for posting the news report! |
That is great news!! I haven't been able to get the image of the little puppies running as fast as then can to get away from the men. It was one of the saddest things I have ever watched. And then to have to give up the mother dog, it was heartbreaking. I hope they find the other puppy and these men are punished accordingly. GREAT NEWS :happyboun |
I'm so glad that most of them made it back to their loving homes and I am praying that the last pup returns back to them as well <3 |
I bet when those men saw themselves on video they were like Oh sh*t:eek: You cant be to careful. I get upset if my brother or sister brings a friend or date to my house because I dont want anyone checking out my goods or yorkie. and when i list something for sale I make sure the number comes up on caller id so i have info on the person coming over. keep a log-thank god they had those cameras. Hope the puppy napping was worth it for the well deserved jail time ahead. Imagine how frightening a gun on you & your children. It sickens me. Always keep that door locked & look first & if things seem fishy dont let them in. I hope they get the last puppy back :( |
Thanks for the News report Alaskayorkie. I had not seen it |
What wonderful news. I kept watching for news updates but didn't see any. |
There is still hope... ...for our youth!! My favorite line of the story: "When the son came home, he (Betton's father) confronted the son and that led to the son being brought in to the station to turn himself in," Corona said. The dad made him turn himself in!?!?! AWESOME! I wonder if puppy nappers get treated as badly as prisoners who hurt children? Let's hope... Hate that they are missing one but hopefully they'll find it. Sounds like the kid did the right thing and led them to where they all were. They still need their @$$e$ kicked but it sounds like Daddy's got a handle on it. :D *PHEW!* Great end to a horrible story! |
I'm so glad. I'm a breeder and actually had an anxiety attack over thinking what if this happen to me and my family. |
I'm glad they got the puppies and older dog back home. I hope they catch the other guy and find the last puppy too..........Atleast most of the pups are home safely!!!:happyboun :happyboun :happyboun |
:cheer: YEAH !! :cheer: That is AMAZING. I am so happy for the breeder. They are blessed. 1)The breeder & family was not injured in the invasion. 2) they got there sweet babies and Loving pet back home. 3)One of those idiotic men was smart enough to turn himself in. We should see some sort of justice in this one. :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
Oh my gosh that makes me feel so much better. I had nightmares all night last night about it. Im glad they are home |
Wooo Hooo That is great news!!!! |
I heard it on the news this morning..That is the BEST news!!!!!!!! |
What a great day this is! Gives me hope that there are more people out there willing to do the right thing. Let's hope the thief who turned himself in will now give the name of his partner. If the puppies were given as gifts, then hopefully the fourth one will be recovered. I'm hopeful! This story has been haunting me. |
Great news! |
Oh YAY!!!! :cheer: I haven't been watching the news today as I have been cleaning  but my mom was asking me about it and I told her that I hadn't heard anything on it yet - so I will have to give her the good news!!! Hope they catch that other weirdo who's still on the loose!!!   |
Yippee!! This news makes my day :happyboun |
well this was armed robbery.....I CERTAINLY hope they throw the book at them......even though this guy turned himself in he terrorized an entire family.....let alone the life long trauma having a gun in your face will cause too.....I have no sympathy....he didn't turn him self in to be altruistic.....he KNOWS he's on camera and he's screwed.....maybe he thought "they'll just go light on me if I return them" I HOPE THEY DON"T!!!! I hope they are punished to the full extent of the law...I wonder if he's the one that was collecting the puppies and not holding the gun....that could make a difference I think in sentencing too......I'm really livid over this |
Yay what good news!!!!!!!!! I hope they find that last puppy... if not I still hope the puppy is in a nice, safe place.. :( |
I would imagine that guy's going to do some serious time even though he turned himself in. The old, use a gun, go to jail commercial comes to mind. Let him rot. I wonder if puppy abusers suffer the same fate in prison as child abusers. Hope so. I will give the kid's father credit, though. |
Great News!! |
