Bizzymammabee | 02-04-2008 06:02 PM | my friend has a king charles spaniel. Rusty has been healthy for the most part other than recently getting sick. He had some sort of blood disorder....well VIP paid minimally on her claims (it was not pre-existing or on that list of no no's that they all have). She had to call and fight and then they finally paid out.
Well she is up for renewal and they told her they won't be renewing her policy because it is now classified as a pre-existing condition. From what she was told when they renew your policy it's as though it's a new policy (I also read this online on a review) so technically what he has is now considered a problem.
Rusty has some blood disorder that he developed that he almost needed a blood transfusion. He will now be on maintenance meds and need to see the vet serveral times a year....so guess what it's no longer profitable for them so SEE YA.
Personally I didn't get any insurance. Instead I got Care Credit ( www.carecredit.com). It's a credit card that gives you deferred interest of up to 4 years on bills (both human and vet) if it's over $299. Under that it's only like 11%. I thought that worked best for my situation. I can't see paying almost $400 to insure my dog and they are not covering enough stuff and there are so many hidden things that seem to pop up when it comes time for them to pay for your bills.
Good luck on what you guys choose. |
