I don't know if that's a purebred Yorkie, but he doesn't look happy. I think that your friend should go meet him and see if she falls in love. You can't really tell from pictures what relationship she'll have with the little guy. I think she should give him a shot. He looks like he needs some lovin'! |
Tara .... This dog wouldn't happen to be in Lubbock would it ? |
to me, kinda looks like half silky/half yorkie. cause ginger looked like that at first too, and sometimes i still ponder if she is really purebred.. but i love her to death regardless. |
Personally, I would not buy this animal as a purebred anything. And, $600.00 is a lot to pay for a dog that might be a mixed breed. Also, that is a lot to pay for a rescue. Having said that, I would (and have) pay that amount and more for a dog that needed a home. And, I could look at that pup and tell he was not purebred although he was reg. with ConKC. I also cannot believe the breeder will not just have him neutered and place him for the costs of vets bills. I hope that either you or someone else rescues that poor little boy... |
He looks like a poorly bred yorkie . Also he looks very sad . |
I've never seen a Yorkie with white fur on the head or if any, it shouldn't be all white |
The poor little guy. Maybe $600 doesn't sound like a lot for a pet quality "maybe Yorkie", but if this lady wasn't a consciensous (sp?) breeder, does she watch her line for luxating patella, liver shunt, or any other costly defects? Luxating patella's can run into thousands of dollars in surgeries. Ask me I know! In the long run it's not such a bargain. As for me? I would pass. You can find other yorkies for a reasonable price that look more like Yorkies. JMO ;) |
His snout is longer than I've ever seen. Could he possibly be a silky? I got Fred for $400 and I'm from Texas. I'm sure she could get a better deal but after coming across this little sad lookin' guy.. personally if it were me, I'd take him so they don't neglect him since she says she has no use for him since he's not interested in her girly. |

I've looked twice his pictures , on his head it is not white it is silver . I would say it is a poorly bred Yorkie . |
I do think it looks like a yorkie. I think the hair on his head looks silver. He may not have the best lines but he does look like a yorkie to me. He sure does need a home though. I bet he would be so thankful and loving to his new mommy. Is your friend going to take him? |
I don't have much experience with Yorkies but I used to think Yorkies and Silkies were the same breed just that Yorkies were black and tan and Silkies were the lighter colored ones. It wasn't until I did a little research that I found out that Silkies have the longer snouts, shorter coats and were supposed to be bigger. Then I said OOOOOhhhh, nnnnnooooo, I want a Yorkie, and nothing but!!! Now I have run into someone who has Silkies and they look like light colored Yorkies. Small, 3 and 5#, short snouts and the long coats!!!!! I have to say I don't think this little guy is purebred. He could be a throw back, I suppose, but that nose and those ears!!!! Villette, doesn't he look like Bradley on YF&F? Just his face? Sylvia |

he looks depressed i also think his snout is too long i would print out the pics and bring or email them to a local breeder. |
My yorkie is 12 pounds, has silver in his hair, tail isn't docked, and his ears hang down.. BUT I love him more than anything. Sometimes its the little imperfections that make them all the more beautiful. Chloe has a lot of silver on her head too. Chances are even if hes not full blooded, once your friend has him for a little while.. shes going to fall in love anyway. we'd pay double what we paid for our yorkie now if someone else had her because we love her so much. |
I think he looks like he is part Daschund. I have a daschund/chihuahua mix at home and he has her facial features almost exactly. He also has her feet. But I also wonder about the coloring, because if he has broken that much color on his head, why hasn't he broken color on his body also? My Yorkie has grey on his head, but he's breaking color every where else too. And he's only 3 months old. This little guy should have broken color elsewhere too if he's 1 year. JMO. But I think he looks like he could use a really loving home, not a wooden plank in a barn. |
I don't think you can judge if its a purebred by the hair color on the head. Stewie hasn't changed color anwhere but the top of his head. Poor baby :'( |
Ok not too long ago I heard of a red legged yorkie which most of the times has coarse/wire silk coat. Their body temp. is usually lower than normal and they have a deeper red color to them. Breeders usually use these yorkies to get better colors in their lines. The hair on their legs and face I believe never gets long like a true silk yorkie. To me (JMHO) this is a true full blooded yorkie and he seems to fit the characteristics of a red-legged yorkie. I will google and find out more!!! Smiles, :) Myra |
The poor little guy looks really sad, and in need of a new home. I live in Northern California, and $600 for a puppy is a great price, mixed or pure bred. You can't find Yorkies here for under $1800. If your friend really likes this little guy, then she should go ahead an purchase him because you can't put a price on the unconditional love that this little guy is certain to give her. |
So far no word from owner So far, my friend hasn't gotten a reply from the owner of the puppy. However, we did do a little digging on the owner. Her name is Cylie Soileau and we thought she lived in Texas regularly, but she just has a lake house in Lake Charles. Her regular home is in Louisiana. She just told my friend she was in Lake Charles, but after a little research, that is not her "main home." We're guessing she is at Lake Charles for the summer now and has the puppy with her?? If no response today, my friend is going to try to call her this evening. I think she has resigned herself to rescuing him, so we shall see if the lady will let her. |

I agree with the others, this one looks really sad. This is part Yorkie but has something else mixed in. Snout is way too long. Not a very cute dog in my opion. $600.00 is way too much money. I would keep looking. Heather |
He does look like a yorkie, remember they used to weigh in the thirty something lb range. He just isn't what i would pick or especially pay $600 dollars. Tell her to keep looking. Be patient, or she will not be satisfied,of course if she just wants to give the poor fella a good home thats different. Just look at everyones yorkies on here, they all look different. APRI can get away with more than AKC so be careful.I do have a APRI but he looks like a showdoggie to me. tiney nose straight back standing ears, except his ears are to big i think. My little guy is only 2 lbs. The rest of mine are AKC. Its easy to fall in love with any of them. |
Yorkie I would have to agree! He looks like a yorkie/cairin mix! I would pay $600.00 for him to get him out of that garage! I am a sucker for rescuing animals anyway. He does look very sad like he never gets any attention at all:( I hope he finds a good home! Quote:

Hi, I have never seen (or heard of) a red-legged Yorkie. Could you please post a pic of one or send a site where we can see one. I have seen some really poorly bred Yorkies that had wire-hair and were supposed to be from Ireland but they were red all over and also had very little hair. |

Here at this site the breeder just comments about it a bit. http://www.geocities.com/angeljulie2/bitney.html I will look for more site but I have heard a few breeders mention it these past couple of days on a yahoo group I belong to... |
Tarawood - I would LOVE to hear how this story ends - I have a feeling he could be an excellent little guy to share your life with ! |

Well, my friend has recieved no e-mail response and the lady was not answering her phone last night, so there is no news to report about him. I am hoping that the lady will come around and let her rescue him. My friend would prefer to pay $300 for him, but from the way she is talking now I'm pretty sure if the lady keeps ignoring her and refuses the $300, she will just e-mail her back and offer the $600 the lady was asking in the first place. She has now made it her mission to rescue this poor puppy. I would probably rescue him if I had the money, but I don't after getting my two and all their accessories and paying their vet bills. I'll keep you updated as soon as I know anything! |
That is so sweet of your friend - she sounds like a really good hearted person ! Tell her GOOD LUCK ! |
There is a possibility he could be mixed but he is adorable and the yorkie , i believe came from west highlands or another breed, and where much bigger till they started improving the breed, for i read the women fell in love with them and they made the doggie smaller. This little guy does look sad. I think he is already winning all of our hearts. lol My biggest yorkie is 6.6 lbs and my smallest is 2 lbs. They all look different and have their own personality. I wish him the best! |
