This made for a miserable drive home for him, wet from his throw-up and me with nothing to pull over and clean him up with. In fact, I still keep a small container of wipes in my glove compartment even though he doesn't get carsick anymore. |
WOW! Congrats! I will be getting my baby boy on April 4th and I can hardly wait :) |
Thanks everyone! |
Change of plans. I got Keely today. She did really well in the car. She threw up once, we stopped at my boyfriends mothers house and we found it cleaned it up. She is so adorable. I just love her. I will post pictures of her tomorrow. |
Yea...another Michigan baby!!! Can't wait to meet you. Hope Keely is adjusting well. She is a real cutie. |
She is doing really well. She slept pretty much all through the night. I have a question though to all of you. How often should I feed her? I read it says 3-4 times a day when they are still puppies. But I just want to make sure I'm not letting her starve. How many hours between each meal? Thanks!! |
:congrats: :heart79: I am so happy you have your baby. how old is she? I still feed maggie 3 times a day and she is 5 months old tomorrow. i find that she doesn't even eat it all. I feed her in the morning when I get up. it usually takes her until lunch time to finish all of that and then I give her more. she doesn't eat much of the lunch at all. then I feed her again at dinner adn she usually finishes that by the time she goes to bed. she is very finikky. she loves her food, she gets very excited when she sees me go for it and eats a few bites very excitedly. but she is not a big eater. but to answer your question...I think 3 times a day is what most people do. I think. This is what everyone told me to do anyway. I find that maggie will eat when she is hungry. now that she is out of the "danger zone" for the hyperglycemia, I don't force it on her. I leave whatever she doesn't finish out...and she is free to eat it at her will. Not everyone does this. I have heard several people say to offer it for a few minutes then take it up. and this will help them get on a schedule. But Maggie does fine with "free feeding"...so to say. some dogs eat themselves stupid but she is just not one of them. I would rather leave the food out for her and know that she is getting plenty than to short her on her meal if she does not eat it all within a few minutes. but every dog is different. you will learn what is best for you and your pup. gee..this is long...sorry :) congrats again. |
I fed Cali 3 times a day until she was about 5-6 months. She wasn't eating much during lunch so I stopped that. Now I just feed her breakfast and dinner. However, I leave some dry food down for her in case she get hungry. CONGRATS! |
Congratulations on Keeley! Can't wait to see pics! |

Thanks. She is 8 weeks old today. I fed her this morning when I got up and that was around 10am. I gave her less than a 1/3 a cup because she doesn't eat it all. She takes it out of the bowl and leaves it all over. LOL! I've noticed she likes to swim in her lil water dish too. I walk away for two seconds and she spilt it all over her wee wee pad. LOL Silly lil girl. So i'm going to stick with three times a day. Thanks for the advice. But she is just adorable. She doesn't bark at all. She didn't whine at all last night either. I will post pictures of her later on. Right now she is sleeping in her play pen. |
Yippee:woof: I'm so happy for you yeyyy:cheer: |

Congrats on your baby! |
I want pictures!! Congratulations!!! I for one, free feed my girls....they are so picky and they eat when they feel like it - then when they do, it seems its a few kibbles at a time throughout the day! |
congrats....it's so much fun to have a new baby around the house isnt it? I have free-fed all of mine. They have done just fine. They will get on a schedule. I just hate for them to be hungry and no food is layed out for them to eat. They only eat it in the morning, and at night anyways. But it's there if they want it. |
2 Attachment(s) I tried the free feeding with her yesterday. And it just works out a lot better. She eats when she's hungry and its always there if she wants it. Thanks for the advice everyone. Here are two pictures of her from this weekend. The first one is of her in her little red hoodie that says Honey on the back and has a little bee and the send one is of her in her playpen when we first brought her home. She's such a doll. I love her! I'll post some more later on. I'm at work right now! hehe |
4 Attachment(s) Heres a few more pictures of her from the weekend.:) |
She's very cute! |
Congratulations . . . . now your life will never be the same again (in a very good way  ) |
