whoa. is baby ok....like in good health? pictures? |
I would like to see pics of it. |
It sounds like it could possibly be a "born blue" puppy. Check this link for more info: http://members.aol.com/CYorkie/Genet...Chocolate.html |
Oh wow! I'd love to see a picture too. I wonder what the puppy will look like when full grown? Sound very special! - Go buy a lotto ticket! |
Please post pictures....:) |
silver puppy 1 Attachment(s) I am new to this forum. I am trying to send a picture of the silver puppy. Hopefully it works. He weighs 4 oz. at 10 days old. |

I hope your baby stays healthy!!! Congrats on the babies. |
Wow.... He's so small compared to the other... But so beautiful... Is he nursing? I can't wait to see them grow up. Please keep us updated. I've never seen one that color... He's amazing... |

Please take your silver baby to the vet asap. It sounds like a blue born yorkie. My understanding is that (if that is what you have) it is a genetic defect that makes them have some terrible skin problem. I hope that is not what you have. Will keep fingers crossed that he's healthy. |
He is nursing. Very strong. We are hoping for the best. He has been to the vet . Both vets in the office checked him out. They think he is healthy just a runt. KaTHY |

i just read that link...sounds like a horribly sad situation. i hope he is ok. wow...that is scary. poor pups..so innocent. breaks my heart. sounds like it is due to some bad breeding somewhere down the line?? i don't know but it doesn't sound like a good situation and you def. should not try and sell him. |
That is a blue born pup. Yes, as they grow, many develop painful skin conditions. Their hair doesn't grow out as normal yorkies do. |
I hope the baby will be OK |
Aren't blue born pups usually darker, or can they be like that, too? |
If it is a blue born pup you should not sell him and you should not breed the parents again...because you can pass the recessive gene and keep the genetic defect going. |
Was yours this color 4 Attachment(s) Hello I would like to know if yours is this color, they all were a bark blue brown, meaning I really did not know what color they were, the looked like a brown to me the first day, that was on the 22nd and today they look a little more blue.I just wanted to know if anyone has seen yorkie puppies this color before. |

I want to wish you good luck on your babies. Although I have read about the skin conditionns, I have also read that it does not happen to all of them. |

Can anyone find a picture of this color as they get older? Kathy |
Silver babies. How old are yours? They look identical to mine. Are there 5 babies? All that color? Is this the first time breeding these parents? |
same color 1 Attachment(s) mine are all the same color, pink noses, with white patches on chest |

Puppies that are born w/ a blue coat do not automatically mean that they are going to have issues as adults. Yes, there is a known link to them having conditions through into maturity, but that's not a guarantee. I know of plenty of blue pit bulls; weims; dobermans; shar peis and so on that have magnificent coats and great skin. It does happen. I do not advocate breeding for this color because the blue can have concequences in a breed that it's not supposed to be present, however. Simply because it's considered a fault if nothing else and the only real reason anyone should be breeding...especially such a popular breed...is to better it by adhering to the standard. Which one would not be doing if he/she reproduced another blue litter on purpose. |

pups They all look "bone blue" to me...some have health and skin issues, others do not..time will tell...chocolates are no more prone to problems then standard colored Yorkies..don't panic, educate yourself as to what may happen..don't sell it as a "rare" color for $5000...that is not what a reputable breeder does..best wishes |
Looks absolutely the same as mine except I have just the one in the litter that color. He looked very silver except for brown markings where the brown markings are on the "normal" colored puppies. He is getting darker as he gets older. This could be because the hair is growing. |
