Do they know what kisses are? I'm am constantly kissing Zoe and telling him how cute he is and how much I love him yada yada..... I always wonder if he knows that my kissing is a sign of affection or that I'm just annoying him. HOw about licking? When he licks me, is he kissing me? Is licking a sign of affection from dogs? |
you know, i wonder the exact same thing!!!! |
LOL OH YES they know - My girls kiss like they're in an R rated movie - head going back and forth and all tongue lol - they are kissing machines and yes - it def affection and love - though I bet some dogs really like to kiss AFTER we eat a great meal of say ........STEAK ??? |
I think licking is a show of affection. I baby talk to Jewels and she starts giving me kisses like crazy. Why would she respond like that if it wasnt affection |
LOL! I do the same thing all the time to my two. I don't think we are annoying them, I think a warm kiss from mommy is usually welcomed. I always tell Peanut she is a Princess or she is mommy's beautiful baby girl. It is all my boyfriend can do not to gag. Hehe! I have wondered about being licked as well. I think sometimes mine lick me when I have body spray or yummy smelling lotion on, but I think when I get a lick on the face it is more like a kiss. |
I think they do! :p Jaden and Jewelina give TONS of kisses, Jaden will actually kiss on command, if I say "give mommy kisses" he goes nuts and his tail is wagging a million miles a second! He also gives me TONS of kisses before bed too and if I kiss either one of them they will start kissing me so I do think they know that it is love and their "kisses" are their way of showing their love for you and for each other. |

I thinking licking is kisses too, cause when we come home and they are SOOO excited to see us, that is what they do lick us to death!! I also get "get morning" licks when I wake up and I think those are kisses too!:p |

I think it's kind of a sign of affection b/c when dogs of a pack get together they lick each others mouths... |
I do think they know that your kissing is a sign of affection as well. Faith and Queequeg both kiss me back when I kiss them. Does anyone else's baby do this? I think it is so cute how they just have to get the last kiss in. |
Just been thinking... whenever my OH kisses me we end up with an extra tongue trying to get in on the action! |
I have been wondering about that too. and I really wanted to believe Siu Pao knows what kisses are for, to show affection BUT he doesn't lick/kiss me??? I kiss him a zillion times a day but he licks/kisses daddy, grandpa, grandma, everybody but me???? Why is that? He will lick me maybe once or twice when I just came home from somewhere but most of the days I am home. Maybe he is bored of seeing Mommy?:( Oh, even if after eating something tasty, I push my face to him to get a kiss, he doesn't....makes me feel sad sometimes thinking he doesn't want to kiss me. |
I like to believe that it is love :), but after going through the training class with Chloe, and seeing how dogs greet each other, I tend to think most licking is a form of friendly greeting. Dogs experience their world in a much more sensual way than we do, so I think the majority of it is their way of receiving signals of mood, the food we've eaten, hormones (you know they can smell and taste things we can't). But...I still want to believe her licks are a sign of affection. Either way, she still has to put up with me kissing the side of her furry little face. |
chester is a licky boy especially after I come home from work or after grooming you would think I had left him forever, my handsome boy. I give him kisses and tell him I love him every day, Im glad he isnt spoiled ha ha. |
