That has to be hilarious!

I wish I could have done this as a poll to compare and see if there is a difference in whether the male of females are more prone to be lap babies or if it is just a matter of personality.

Gazou is my lap baby . The girls are always too busy .

That's the way it is here. My girl's were/are always too busy. Of course, once they wear out, they'll hit the lap for a bit if they can happen to find me sitting (which is seldom).

That may be another difference. Some people don't sit a lot and it's kinda hard to be a lap doggie if you don't have a lap to get in!:D

My little guy is a total lap baby...at the very least in the same room within sight on Mommy

Duh! I never even thought of that. We are a pretty laid back family so that may be one of the reasons all of my dogs are lap dogs.

If my body is in a sit position Buddy is in it!

My poor little Kacee is so desperate for a lap that if I go prop up on the bed late at night to read for awhile, then she comes and gets on my lap!:D

Lucy is a lap baby, Abbie likes to lay on my chest right up under my chin.

Mine is a lap baby only if she is sleepy. LOL If she is not she is bouncing off the walls.

mr. bailey is a desktop puppy. its funny, when hes on my couch, he likes sleeping on the pillow, so he lays on it and gets up and circles on it and scratches at it and starts grumbling like hes getting irritated. he paws at the pillow because he tries to fluff it up and he does this for about 10 minutes until he gets comfortable.

lately, i've been busy with business school and he always feels the need to be close to me. so i've been spending a lot of time in the computer room at my house. So he likes it when i put him on my desk and he likes to fall asleep to me typing. so hes been sleeping alot on my desktop its so cute. and when i make to loud of a noise he kind of wakes up and does this little stretch with a little noise he makes as he stretches like a little baby would make. its so cute. my girlfriend adores it when he does that. Its funny, when i'm using the mouse a lot he sleeps and plops his butt on my mouse so i can't move it, or whe im typing along he puts a leg across the keyboard and goes to sleep so i can't type. in this picture i was highlighting and trying to read so he put his head on my book and i couldnt turn my pages lol.

All three are lap dogs. I just refuse to get any bigger so they all will fit!:D

yes, he likes to help me type my management papers, everytime i tap on a key he looks at me and hits the enter button on the numeric side. so when i hit delete, he looks at me and hits the enter button again, we go at it for a while. hes a crazy little man. he always seems to plop his head or his big butt somewhere or on something i really need to use just to make me laugh. i love him.

this is what mr. bailey looks like after not getting his usual puppy teddy bear cut and waking up on my comforters. its a bad day of bed hair, and i think he was still a bit drowsy when i too the picture. the camera wasn't crooked, it was him and being groggy in the morning. =P

Mine likes to be near guarding me lol. But really doesnt lay on me that much. She comes gets some luvin then she's off again.

maggie always lays around almost. now that she can jump on my chairs she will run from one to another and jump in one then off and run to another then jump beside me where ever i'm sitting and lay down. She acts like shes too pretty to play actually. She wont play with her toys hardly ever. she loves to be petted. she wont go get anything and bring it to me at all. then sometimes she will take a quick fast run thru the house and back. jump right up on the couch or chair and sit there. so she is one of the most lap dogs ive ever seen.

Bella will come and sit on my lap but she is much happier running around playing or sleeping on her own in her bed or on the couch alone.

hmm....Bear is slowly turning into a lap dog, mainly due to Tigger being a total cuddle bug and He can't stand to watch Tigger get cuddled if he's not. LOL Tigger's been a cuddle bug ever since the first day we brought him home. actually we always held him when he was a pup. Maybe that had something to do with it? I don't know. But now My bf and I can't even cuddle without him getting jealous and pushing his way in. Bear will sit there and look at him like he's nuts and then gives in and does the same. It's quite funny. :)

Simon loves to be in my lap, but when I am on my laptop, as I am right now, then we have a little jealousy issue.

All three of my furbabies are "lap babies" They are constantly pushing each other in order to be the only one on my lap. I can't sit anywhere without one of them on me but I love it......:D :D :D

oh, maggie is definitely a lap baby. when i am using my laptop on the couch, it is so hard cuz she is usually right on top of it. at the office, she is constantly wanting me to pick her up and put her in my lap. she will just sleep there in my lapt for as long as i can sit there :) i wouldn't have it any other way. i was very afraid that she would not be a lap dog. i wanted a cuddler so badly!

Teddy is def. NOT a lap baby. He loves to be on his feet, running, gettting himself into trouble. London on the other hand is always standing up on her 2 feet and leaning on me so I can pick her up and put her in my lap. She's a total lap baby. So I have 2 very diff. ones.

Tetley is a total snugglebug. If there's a lap in sight, he's in it. If you're napping, he's right there napping with you. When I'm watching TV he likes to snuggle up into my neck. I love his affectionate nature! :)

Skippy is definitely a lap dog, and I can' go anywhere without him.

My male is definately a lap dog. If I am on the couch or chair with my legs up he is laying on my legs guarding me. He always faces away from me. I have developed strong thigh muscles from supporting him! Does the same thing to my husband. My female only sits on my lap in the morning when I am drinking coffee and trying to read the newspaper. Then she wants my full attention and a 30 minute massage! They are so funny.

If I sit they have to sit on me. Since I have 5 of them they can't all sit in my lap. One has her spot on my arm, one gets my lap, one is snuggled close to my side, one has her pillow right next to me so she can be on her pillow and still cuddled up to my arm. The other one came last so he has to take whatever position the girls leave him. It is usually on my chest. It is a real chore when I have to get up...

Bengi likes to play more than anything. He love to play fetch, hide & seek, and loves to run and explore. But when he gets tired, he loves to cuddle in my lap or by my side.

Thanks everyone for your responses. This has been very interesting. I've done a general tally and seems like the general consensus is that they are in fact lap dogs if allowed to be.
