Just wondering if I'm the Only One Who doesn't buy clothes for or dress their Yorkies? The only thing I've tried was a coat and she was having no part of that so she doesn't have even one piece of clothing. |
Well not quite the same, but almost. She does have two little woolly jumpers that I knitted for her, as now she's getting old she feels the cold. And she's always had one little mac as where we live, high up on the moors in the north of England, it rains ALL the time :( otherwise she'd be drenched every time she went out of the door. But I've never bought dresses & such, in fact I've never even seen them over here, & I could just imagine some of the remarks she'd get from some of the old blokes in the village if she were to appear in a frock !:D |
well i dont have any as yet ,, but living in scotland is cooooooold and wet all the time ,, so i was going 2 get her jumpers and little jackets 2 keep her warm,, lasie want mind as my 2 girls put everything on her.. but kerra i dont no..:) i have only had them 4 week ,, after taking them out of a puppy fram there 10 m and there great , and dont smell any more :) and no more matts thanks to all the yt help i have had .. on cowboy magic for there coats. :) |
Did you manage to buy the Cowboy Magic in the UK or did you have to order it from the States via the web? |
i had 2 go 2 ebay to get it ,couldent find it anywhere eles:) |
Nope, you're not the only one. Tatum has one jacket (leopard print) that is precious as all get out but it's all she has. I think she looks prettier without clothes because of her long hair. I don't bash those that do have clothes and I think they are adorable dressed up but we choose to spend our extra money (if there ever is any) on other fun things. Just a personal choice. |
I tried dressing my girls when they were little. I have a few pictures of them. They hate clothes. When I put them on, they would just lay there acting like they were being punished. I put sweaters on them at Christmas, took quick photos then off came the clothes. It's hard enough to keep bows in their hair. I bought a jacket for Max, he wears it on cold days so far. I decided not to invest in cloths since they won't wear them. |
Mine have loads of clothes but rarely wear any of them. The most they use now is their coats. The reason why I rarely dress them is because I noticed that they matt when wearing clothes therefore I don't even bother anymore. |
Mine hate clothes:laugh: They dont' seem to mind when it's cold out though:p |
They wear sweaters when it's cold out. and on holidays Maddie wears dresses, but we really don't dress them up. |
My gang go naked. They don't like clothes and neither do I. i love to look down at my feet or beside me and see their beautiful coats |

I make Vest and Dresses but mainly Lillie is naked! I cant say she "likes" to wear clothes, but she will wear them, but when I take them off her, she goes nuts, rooting all over the place. I do keep her hair up just to keep it out of her eyes. I think like anything, you have to train them to wear clothes, I dont really think any of them "like" it, but we like to see them in clothes so thats why we put them on them. |
Mine do not like clothes but I do have the harness vests. They only wear them when we go out -- and I figure they would have to have some sort of harness so why not make it pretty? I also have the hoodie harnesses and they wore those okay on a cold windy day. As long as there is nothing on their legs, they seem to tolerate it well. So, I'd say mine only wear functional items. |
Chewy has one sweater for the winter. She doesnt need any more because we dont go out when its very cold. Honestly havent been out in about a month. But before that she used to go out like 4 days a week and then i would wash it. CANT WAIT TILL SPRING!! |
I only really dress mine up when we're going out ( to Petco or the vet, ect) or when I'm taking pictures. Usually when they're around the house they're nakey... even though I have TONS and TONS of clothes for them :) |

Thank you Debbie :aimeeyork :) :thumbs up |
Boots will were clothes alright, but Missy ,forget it she'd rather have her teeth pulled. lol |
When Zeus was a baby, he HATED clothes! :( So, I never tortured him and made him wear them. But, someone gave him a sweater when he was around 1 yr old and he loved it. He would get so mad when we took it off him and now he LOVES clothes. He gets so excited when you mention them! :p |

Nope, Coco has no clothes. I have never even tried anything on her. I was gonna get her and my bulldog hoodies for Christmas, but never did! Your not the only one for sure!!! |
We live in Texas, where it's hot quite frequently...plus Muffin is a rough & tumble girl who plays hard & overheats easily. Therefore, I never put clothes on her. She had two surgeries in December & January & now has two large scars that go from her front legs to her back legs on her chest & belly. I decided to have her wear shirts whenever she's outside or going with us somewhere, to protect the scars. She thinks it's the weirdest thing ever! She lets me put them on her, but she is always looking at me with confusion in her eyes! :) CJ |

Can someone direct me a little on harnesses. Here in Ireland I've never seen the kind you all talk about. What exactly are the 'dress' or 'hoodie' type harnesses? Louis hates his current one (it's a leash type and to fit it you put it over his face, behind his two front paws and buckle it underneath his tummy and then attach the leash to a hook on top). I'd love to get something that fits easily over his face and just clips into place in a cozy fabric. Hope I'm making sense and that someone can help. Thank you! Mary. |

My yorkie boy loves clothes..........I have been putting them on since the day I got him so he is used to it. The poodle on the other hand, acts like I am punishing her. The only reason why she has dresses and clothes is because I feel I have to be fair. I buy them both stuff :D Mostly her clothes are for when we go out to the petstore or for pics but nothing more. |
You are not alone! My kids DO NOT like to wear clothes. I have made coats and some really cute things, I bought the MOST INCREDIBLE DRESS from Jodie (chloeandj) at www.ChloeBella.com. But Chizzie is more like a lady wrestler and Chattie scrunches up her hiney and acts like she is being punished when I put clothes on her. So for us, my kids are little nudies  except when I dress them up to go shopping or show-off. Poor Peppy has to serve as my model when I am making small clothes -- I hope he isn't affected by having to try on girly pink things.:D |
You're not the only one. I think putting clothes on dogs is kind-of weird. (To each his own, of course!) Joey has one coat and that's it. |
My daughter and I bought Cody a cute terry cloth bath robe when he was a puppy. We thought it would be cute to put it on him after his baths. He absolutely hated it. He hates anything terry cloth -- especially towels. They make him growl. Cody does have a couple sweaters and 2 polar fleece jackets that he wears outside. (I work at Land's End and they sell warm dog coats!) He even has a little t-shirt that he wears as a pj's just to keep him warm at night. He loves them all! And . . . It's cold here in Wisconsin! |
