You are too funny!!! Oh my gosh, the smell....ugh!!! Since you said it first, I will also say it...MINKSHEEN stinks like a really bad bug spray! It was almost like a really old (already stinky) cologne mixed with some odd spices. Harley's breath even smelled like it...not quite sure how that happened. Everytime that I walked into my bedroom, where Harley was sleeping, I could smell the MinkSheen. I had to also rewash him. So, yes, thank goodness for free samples. :)

Shining. His Coat Was Black With A Little Blue, After Using The Minksheen His Coat Is More Blue. I Did Not Use A Conditioner, And His Skin Is Not Itching.

You can go to the sight www.touchofmink.com and just email them and they will send you a free 2 oz sample. Tons of people on here have tried it and I would say 90% of the people that have tried it swear by it. I suppose it depends on your dog, how the fragrance reacts to their coat and how it works on their coats. It seems to work the best on true silk coats, those with modified or cotton coats seem to be the ones that have all the problems. The scent of it, if it reacts properly is really nice. I used it on Jaden and Jewelina and it's faint but smells clean, A friend of mine tried it on her yorkie mix and the smell was awful! More like what the other were talking about, like a rancid bug spray, so I'm guessing it must be different with every dog or again maybe it has something to do with the type of coat you put it on. If it does work for you, it is amazing stuff!:thumbup: My mentor show breeder uses this stuff on her show dogs and their coats are absolutely stunning! I would definetly give it a try as like I said, more people on here like it then don't.

I have not tried MinkSheen, but I agree that products react differently on different doggies. Same with humans :) There are perfumes/colognes that smell great on some people but smell completely different and not so great on other people...Something about how it reacts with your body.

Pure Paws was okay but not great. We now use Coat Handler products and love them!!! I like the soft smell of Coat Handler. We also bought Bo Derek's Bless The Beasts, and it works great on Emma, but not on Miko.

I'm one who used the MinkSheen with mixed results, but the "pluses" were great enough that I'm going to see if I can get past the "negatives" by using along with other products.

ANYWAY. Yes, I would say it's worth a try, to give his coat more body! Mazie's coat is silky (possibly modified...I'm not sure) and thin and (usually) straggly looking. I really like the way this has made her coat look fuller and more "even". And the softness is to DIE for!

After reading this thread.......I agree it must depended on the dog.

I use MinkSheen on Gordon. The first time I used it on him I loved what it done to his coat. After his bath , he was shiny and his coat was so soft and no tangles. I loved the smell, it wasn't over powering and I only got a slight scent when I picked him up.
The one thing I have learned about MinkSheen is to shake the bottle GOOD.

That is SO true! You do have to shake the heck out of that bottle! If you don't the mink oil doesn't get mixed in with the shampoo and it doesn't work half as well. So whoever tries it remember to SHAKE IT! :thumbup: :thumbup:

However, Stedman does NOT have a "Cotton" coat and we DID "shake the heck out of the bottle" (the instructions DO say to do that...:rolleyes:) and nope....still stunk. LOL. So shaking the bottle didn't do a single thing - it didn't change the results and it sure as heck isn't going to take away the STINK lol :rolleyes: My best friend that lives here also tried this stuff on her two Yorkies (both silk coats...:rolleyes:) and got the SAME EXACT results we did. And she too said it stunk to high heaven lol. In fact, after I bathed Stedman with this stuff, my husband was like "OMG what did you put on this dog!!!! He smells like bug spray! GROSS! Get it off him!" :lol tears So the next day when he reeked even WORSE of insect repellent we both knew it was time to re-bathe him with the Cranberry Fields LOL ;) :thumbup:

My hubby also had the same reaction...and Harley also smelled even worse the nest day. I emailed and asked Espree if they will send us some free samples of their Silky Show shampoo and their silkening serum. Can't wait to give that a try!
