Hoku's getting a brother!
 
Hoku is going to get a brother soon:) I can't upload pics from this computer but have asked Amber to.

His name is Kalani which means 'sky/heaven' in Hawaiian, staying with the same theme as Hokule'a which means 'bright star'.

I hope they bond quickly too! They share the same father but different mothers. Kalani is about 2 1/2 weeks younger than Hoku. I'm actually getting him for 2 reasons - 1. so she has a playmate and 2. to help me when it does come time to let her go.

At Hoku's last vet visit her heart murmur sounded worse and the vet said I need to start watching her closely for the beginning signs of congestive heart failure:( The breeder had promised me a replacement pup down the road but she and I talked about it last night and both agreed that maybe it would be easier for me to take another pup now. Had to talk to the BF late last night so wasn't able to get back to the breeder to make the pick-up arrangements. I'm getting excited though I'm sure 2 will be a handful:)

I am so sorry to hear about Hokule'as heart murmur getting worse. I'll continue to pray for a miracle for her. Congratulations on your new baby! I hope you enjoy your time with both of them! Having two is so much fun! :)

OMG! The breeder just called and is going to meet us in a couple hours with Kalani. Hoku and I have been lounging around watching a movie and I am so not ready! Aaaggghhh!!!!

Well, Kalani is home and the last day and a half have been a whirlwind of activity! He was very shy when he first got here and of course Hoku had to bother him constantly:( He kept crying to be picked up and carried but today he's gotten a little better and is playing and eating and bothering the heck out of her - LOL!

It is so cute to watch them together. I think Kalani was the best thing for Hoku, all of a sudden she isn't such a 'baby', and she loves having her very own little puppy to play with:)

I'll try to get some pics tonight. I need a nap first, 2 puppies are a lot of work!

OHHH how exciting about your new little puppy!!!! how fun!!! And he is so cute...sorry to hear about Hoku's heart mumer. :( It is real good you have a little bro for her though!!!! Congrats!

Thanks for the congrats, everyone! Things are going well. Kalani is feeling more at home and getting bolder every minute. He's constantly stealing Hoku's toys and it sets her right over the edge! And then they have to play Nascar around the living room and try to prove who's boss - LOL! Having 2 is certainly entertaining:)

Will post pics when I get to work today!

:( :( :( oh no !! I'm sorry to hear that ~! I wonder if having a little playmate will help her ?? That's so sad - I didn't know she had a heart murmer....is there anything they can do for her ? I'm happy for you that you're getting a puppy but sad at the same time that Hoku has such a serious heart murmer :(

I'm hoping having a playmate will help her live longer or at the least give her an even better quality of life. Her murmur is pretty significant and the vet says once she starts showing signs of heart failure she will probably go downhill quickly. The meds they have won't do much for her and I will not prolong her life if she is in pain. She is so special to me and I'm still praying for a miracle:)

Kalani went to the vet yesterday and got a clean bill of health - yay!!!! At 11 wks. he is 2# 10 oz. Here's some pics of him by himself:)
