Dog Limits In Your Town I was just wondering what the dog registration limits are in your area. Mine is three, unless you have a license... which I'm in the process of getting so that when I get my new furbaby in the summer I'll be all set. Just wondering what your town/city's rules are? :) |
I live on Military Housing, and they only allow 3:(, I only have 2 now but plan to get one more pretty soon, maybe before the summer but after April:rolleyes: |
thats what ours is but not that any one goes by it. |

Ours is 3. It's one of the few cities around that has a limit. We moved here with 4 and I just took all of the paperwork to Animal Control and licensed all 4 of them. Most people in town don't even license their dogs here. |
ours is 4 but like the prev post, i don't think people obid by it |
When we moved here last spring and I registered the boyz uptown I asked what the limits were and I was shocked to hear them say there are no limits as long as you can take care of what you have  |
our limit is 3....but shhhhh mine arent registered. |

I think it's sort of silly that three is the limit, especially w/small dogs.. but I guess it is what it is. I think 4 or even 5 is a better number... but I guess not everyone is as responsible as us YT-ers are! |
Hummm, good question! I really dont know, we live in the country, so I dont know if that matters or not?? I guess thats one thing I must look into. Thanks for asking!:D |
Whatever it is  I am DEFINATELY over my limit. I gotta Check it out tomorrow...:D |
Our's is 5, without a kennel license. |
Your post proves I'm never too old to learn something new!! I would have never thought about a limit or to even check on one. I, too, live in the country where we don't even have a leash law  Lots of dogs roaming loose in the neighborhood - that's why we keep our gate closed once we are all home in the evening and mine never go out without one of us with them. Doubt I have anything to worry about, though, with only 2 and no plans to add another any time soon (despite my desire to do otherwise) except for hubby's lab that we'll be getting in another 6 weeks or so. Good question, I'll have to check into it here where I live. |
We live on a big acreage miles away from any city, so I don't think any city laws apply to us. However, we do have laws that state every dog in this county must be registered with the county, and all of mine are. Two of our dogs are shelter rescues, and I remember that they wanted us to register those before we even left the shelter. So for those who live in the country, you might want to check your county laws too, just in case. |

Hi does anyone know what happens when you're over the limit? Just wondering. And how do you get a kennel license? I own 2 yorkies now and would like to get 2 more. Thanks:) |
The neighborhood I live in, you can have no more than 2. |
I know lots of breeders who are wayyyyy over the city/county limits...but few have ever had problems because they make certain their dogs do not cause trouble. One was up front and applied for a license, only to find she could not have a license in a residental area...she was fined $50 per day until she moved...she did not pay the fine and moved out of the county. Unfortunatley, honesty is not the best poilicy with animal control laws.. |
My yorkies are well taken care of and they are always indoors. Just this weekend there was someone from animal control @ my door. I didn't open the door because I totally freaked out. My 2 yorkies are not registered. I forgot to mention I have one small chihuhua and a shetland sheepdog in my backyard they're both 15 yrs old they are registered. They are also very well cared for we treat our pets like family. I don't understand how so many people have so many yorkies without getting caught. I'm very concerned now will they take any of my babies away and how can I ever get my other 2 yorkies. I live in residential area so I am not able to get kennel license. |
rabies This is why alot of breeders reframe from giving rabies...my vet was a friend and did not send the information to the county licensing department...then abotu 10 yrs before we moved to Florida, they changed the number from 4 to limitless as long as they were welll cared for... |
If they come after me will I have to give up any of my babies. :( |
Lol I know what you mean...we once had a toxic spill on RT 301 about 1/4 mile from our house. The police came to everyones door and ask us to leave the area...I had 20 Yorkies (some were newborn) I refused and slept in the keneel with them that night..if they were going to be "gassed" so was I!! LOL |

Thanks YorkieRose I wasn't sure if I could stand up to them. I was afraid I'd makes things worse. My doggies are all very well taken care of so I will not worry anymore. Thanks sooooo much!!! LOL I've been hiding my little toby he's only 3lbs. I guess I'll wait for now and not get my other 2 yorkies. Until they leave me alone LOL LOL |
