I have a question for this forum. I am new at this and it is my first try, so be kind. But we are trying to find out info on breeding per say changes during breeding time. To start with, we just had a litter of puppies (3) and all seem normal. From the last litter we had 4 puppies (i male and 3 females). This question is about the male of that litter. He came out different then the other females. During the breeding period, we kept her inside most of the time and when we let her outside, we stayed outside with her. We know she didn't do it with another dog. So that was ruled out. I am attaching pictures of the dog. His father is AKC and comes from good blood line. The female is bent ear puppy quality UKC NC dog. He is very smart, well above normal. But it is his hair that has us wondering. He has two layers of hair on him. A soft inner layer and a soft outer hair. He looks like a big furball. Once he gets wet then you can see the yorkie in him. He is a medium size yorkie and is around six months old. By looking at the pictures, what do you think happened to him? He is a very easy dog to train and is great with everyone he knows.

I am not really sure what you are asking. He is definatley a very cute Yorkie! They can have different hair if that's what you want to know?

Roxy and TJ have the same father, but different mothers.
Roxy has long soft straight hair.
TJ is a big fluff ball, his hair is soft, but curly and kinky?

BUT, yorkies only have one coat. They don't have the undercoat that other breeds have. it just looks like a cute, floppy eared yorkie to me.

Yes, he is all yorkie. But what we are asking is the two coats of hair normal? Both the male father and female mother, do not have it. We were thinking it had to do with past bloodlines that made up the yorkie line. We are looking into it and have found info that some of the bloodlines that did help make up the bloodline did have two coats of hair. But the three females, we had with him, all didn't show it. They all came out normal. So it has left us wandering. The litter, we just had with the mother and father (2 males and 1 female), all seem to be normal. One thing that may help is that the male was 10 years old and the female was 1 year old at the time of birth. It was his first time and her first time. We were thinking it may have something to do with it. It is just odd that it happened with him. We love him to death and would never give him up to anyone.

kayah has (well had as a pup) the two layers of coat.. now she is cotton coated.. she looked just like your pup just smaller and her ears were standing

I think sexiixtc has the most logical answer. Could be that he hasn't lost his puppy hair under his new hair. I've had them do that. When the puppy hair sheds off, they have different hair. I took one of mine to the groomers to get him shaved and he came back totally different looking.

I think he's adorable!!

Included are some more pictures of him around one to months of age. In one picture he is with his sister Daisy. In another he is sitting on the coach and his father is above him and looking down on him. He also has a very funny way of sitting on the coach, He sits like us and puts his front leg (R) upon the arm of the coach like it is a arm to him. It make my wife break up laughing every time she sees him do it. He in his own way is a very special dog to us. What also is strange about him, is that he hasn't started changing colors like his sister. We can only hope the two new males and female will be as special as him. His mother came to us after her sister got killed by a bigger dog. So thank-you all for the info. This has helped a lot. Rich.
