Tia and her LP...bit more news Thanks to all who replied to my question about Tia and her LP. Today I phoned the original vet and found out that Tia has grade 4 LP. The knees don't pop out.....they're already out. She does not limp and we would never have know there was anything wrong with her hind legs if no one had told us otherwise. A breeder that I spoke to yesterday said that if she has 2 or less then we have nothing really to worry about, but anything more than 2 we could expect surgery any time. I just called the store and the manager is still out with Tia getting her second opinion. I can't wait to hear back from her and then to phone the vet myself, and then to speak to the breeder. From what I understand, LP is fixable, although expensive, and her post-op care doesn't sound too overwhelming. When I have all the information I will post again. And when my husband and I come to a decision, I will let you know. Your forum has been very helpful and supportive...thanks! I'll post again soon.

By the way I forgot to mention...although she came from a pet shop and despite the fact that she has LP...she is otherwise completely healthy. Her fecal sample came back negative which surprised the breeder I spoke to last night (she said that many dogs from pet shops have parasites) and said that that was a great sign....so aside from LP, there are no concerns. As for her temperament...she is spunky, but doesn't show any signs of aggression. Keep your fingers crossed for Tia!

I can't wait to hear back from you. ...again, if it were me, I would except the refund from the store to put towards her surgery. You and your hubby sound like you would be wonderful, caring parents! Good Luck!
