| Booty Scootin' Emma's been doing the "booty scoot" on the carpet a lot lately. She just had her exam-so no worms or any other problems. This is kinda gross, but I confess, I usually wipe her butt after she poos-just to keep from getting any poo residue on anything. Usually she's very clean between me doing this and her keeping herself clean. I did recently trim the fur on her little fanny-do you think maybe it itches where I trimmed on her butt? Or do you think it's normal for dogs to do this from time to time? Thanks! |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Welcome to the club. Sounds like she needs her anal glands expressed. It is a very common problem, and in fact many groomers do it as part of their service. I'll see if I can find the link someone posted a while back on how to do it. If I find it, I'll repost here.

| Ewwww. I've heard of this. Maybe I should just get her groomed soon? Is it hard to do? |

| Oh, I don't know about you, but I let the groomer handle the anal glands *barf* It IS entirely possible that you trimmed a little too close, and the hairs are poking her hiney I did that to Starr one time and it took a few days for her to stop scootin'

| My two always do the 'booty scoot' after I trim the hair around their anus. I think it's the feeling of cool air where the hair used to be. But they do it for awhile after I trim, then they forget about it.
