| question about their paw pads?? This is probably a really weird question... but recently Princesss keeps licking the pads of her feet... and then I looked at it and on one of her paws, a little tiny peice from the pads like was coming off?!?! So since it was bothering her, I cut it off, and now theres a little hole there.. and I checked her other pads under her paws and theres another one where some of the black part came off... uhhh is this normal? is it suppose to grow back? It obviously didn't hurt her when I cut the little peice that was hanging off... so is this part of their skin? |

| So does no one know if the pads of their feet is like skin that regrows? Or was this just a ridiculously stupid question that no one wanted to answer? |

| I don't know the answer but that was not a stupid question. I will also be interested to know the answer just for future reference. |

| Hi ya, How old is Princess? Have you just started walking her somewhere different - that might have a different ground surface? I think their paw pads are just like skin so it will grow back - but they toughen up because they're on the ground all the time. Do you put her in shoes when she's outside? Because if you do that it won't let the pads toughen up like they're supposed to. If you've had a cold snap and she's experiencing snow it might make a difference - It's summer here and I don't get snow even in winter so I don't know. Dixie had quite soft paw pads and it took a while for her pads to toughen up. She even got a prickle! But she's fine now. I don't know if I have any real advice - I think I'm just waffling.

| Princess is almost 2 doesnt really go outside.. she just runs around inside... maybe every once in a while she will run around outside in the grass... but ya..and she doesnt wear shoes So I am assuming they grow back? It just looked weird... how there was some pad skin hanging off (tiny tiny piece though)... Yeah I was always curious about those dogs that like to run around on the rocks/beach... and how sometimes their pads on their feet are scratched up.. but I guess they do grow back then? |

| It seems weird that little chunks come off. It'll grow back like skin - I'm 99.9% sure. My two yorks are rough and tumble fur kids and get to run around by the river or at the beach most days. They have tough little feets.
