Do you know the name of the groomer or grooming shop. I just want to be sure I never use them. |
I'm so sorry that this happened, but I just don't understand why the owner didn't know that it was the wrong dog??? |

My husband would know if he had the wrong dog .He dotes on Ellie. When Ellie needs clipping I am going to use a mobile who just happens to live 6 doors away.:) |
That's so sad! But how come you don't realize you're picking up a strange dog?? But I have to admit, the first time Pepper went to the groomers, they cut all his black puppy fur off and he did look completely different - all silverish grey and trimmed down pretty much. I feel sorry for the woman... |

I'm trying to figure out how she could profit by saying such a thing just to get another dog? Oh well. I have seen on ocassion where groomers leave the dog in the noose to go talk on the phone or give walk ins dogs nail cuts, or take other dogs in. I won't take my to a groomer for this reason. I do all my own cuts on them. It isn't a bit difficult. |
I hate to be the non-trusting person, but people are very tricky & play off others emotions. She was probably hoping she would get a free or very cheap yorkie out of the deal. People watch to many soap operas & come up w/some crazy ideas to get what they want with out working or paying for it & by any means- lying, stealing, cheating, crying-even killing:eek: Did you see where a lady had a ad in the paper for dogs for sale, a couple made a appointment, came, she was alone they were after her baby & cut it out of her. She died, I dont know if they found them or not. People are crazy. My husbands uncle was killed by a person that came to look at a gun he had for sale, they got the gun-they got caught later, but he's dead. You cant imagine anything like that would happen but it does. I have seen people w/sob stories & get a free pup out of it-alot of times I wonder if it was a made up story for that purpose. I try to find good in everyone, but also dont like to see people taken advantage of. Just my opinion. And if they'd kill for a gun or a baby, who knows what they'd do for a YORKIE:D |
I have used this one groomer in my area for many years and never really had a problem...except I felt she cut them too short at times but not a big deal...I took my first Yorkie and a Peke/Poodle mix to her. However, since I got my boy Yorkie I have not felt as comfortable taking him there...I haven't been pleased with his grooming and I keep having these bad feelings that something is going to happen to him. So, I too am learning to groom him myself. He may not look perfect but that's OK. :p |
I used to take my Lhasa and Schnauzer to a groomer that I thought was pretty good until the Lhasa got a hernia on her belly and I asked the groomer to please watch out and not cut the hernia. The vet wanted it to grow a bit larger before he performed surgery on the hernia. The groomer said we can't watch for every little bump. They cut into it and the dog was still bleeding when I picked her up. I quit going there. Another highly recommended place where I had boarded my dogs also did grooming. We paid a small fortune to board our dogs for a few days. We came back from vacation to find our dogs in deplorable conditions sleeping in their own pee and feces. Later they had a fire and lost a lot of animals in the fire. They have also killed several dogs by letting them fall off grooming tables. I will never go back there. Then I found a groomer who was highly recommended who groomed in her own basement. I took my yorkies to her to have their nails clipped prior to my first full grooming appointment and she let one of my dogs fall off the table RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. I almost had a heart attack. I have never gone back there either. I am now grooming my own dogs. They don't look the best but I know they are safe. I also hate leaving them for 8+ hours a day and they are so stressed out when I pick them up. Some groomers have told me that they don't take them out to potty during the whole day they are there. I just don't want my dogs treated like this. We also never board them anymore. If they can't go with us on vacation, we don't go. This is just my experience and I know there must be a lot of good groomers out there, I just haven't found them. |

Krissy, you would NEVER have to worry that I would send the kids home with someone else... However you might worry cause I might take them home myself lol. Maybe Mike wont notice 3 extra dogs in the house. I think Bentley and Sherman could possibly blend in if they dont roll over and expose their bellies ;) considering all my yorkies are girls However I think he will notice Cha Cha since we dont have any short haired Chi's here. I could never imagine sending the wrong dog home with someone. The dogs should have ID cards on their crates. Im so happy my customers do trust me with all the evil groomers out there, I could never imagine hurting someones dog. Its just not right. I dont think I would ever forgive myself if something happened to one of my clients dogs. On a different note: I was almost in tears today.. I groom a sick golden retriever who has cancer all inside of his body. He doesnt look or act sick at all, you would have no idea hes sick. His owner told me he started having seizures recently. I get so scared that I may never see him again when he leaves the shop. Hes such a sweet boy and always so happy and eager to please. Im going to miss him when its time for him to cross over, I hope he continues to beat the odds and I pray for him all the time. He came in today, thats what made me share this story right now. Im starting to tear up just typing about him now. |
I don't have a lot of experiences with groomers, maybe just 2 at most. First time I went is just for nail clipping because I didn't know how to do it myself. I went to the groomer nearest to my house and she actually thought me how to do it. She is a very nice lady except that I have seen her left a dog (it was a small female yorkie) on the table and she walks out to take phone calls and I am not very comfortable about that. I know upon request, she'd let me stay if I send my baby there for grooming but I never did. Second time, I went to another groomer that I get to stay but not in puppy's view to make the groomer's life easier but they nick his butt and paw and they didn't tell me so I wasn't happy about it. After that, I went to buy my own clippers and now I do it. It saves money and I don't have to worry about people cutting him. I am very gentle but firm with him and I give him treats from time to time and I give him time out if the grooming gets too long because I like to keep his body coat short and neat. I think he is happier when I do it because there is no rushing to get him done and he get lots of treats. |
seems way fishy to me |
OMG never heard of that one..I am so sorry..That is so wrong.. |
I can understand how it could happen in a big shop, where one person might check the dog in and another person check the dog out. Some people are just careless, and don't pay attention. if the dog was quite shaggy when she took it in and it got a pretty drastic cut, it might look totally different. Yorkies similar in size with the same coloring look alike. When my two don't have their hair up, I have to look twice to see which one is which. When their hair is up it is obvious because Chachi has a longer nose. And most men don't pay as close attention as women do. He might have been in a hurry and had things on his mind. |
Would anyones yorkie just go to a complete stranger? Mine would act afraid which should be a red flag to the person. She would try to get away, I know that I have seen my fosters look like a totally different dog after a cut but the thank god mom or dad is here to pick me up is a dead give away that i have the right dog, all the other dogs look, listen & lay there heads back down like "nope not my person" either it was a very dumb man who didnt mind being killed by his wife when he got home & a groomer on weed or a made up story to try to get a free puppy. Plus the groomer would be held reasonsible for replacing the dog & I dont think I would be calling same or next day for a new puppy or while I couldnt keep myself composed thru the conversation to some point. |
