HELP! Paris gets haircut in 1 Hour!! Guys, I need your help. I don't know what to do. Paris is getting her puppy cut at noon and I don't know whether to leave her head long or trim it short like the rest of her.......what about her tail?? Should I leave that long? I want her to be pretty when I dress her up...I just don't know what to do. Please, please, please give me your input.....I don't have much time. |
I just made an appt. for Jack to get his first puppy cut. I would leave her head a little longer. Good luck! |
Well, it's 2:08 here..............hope it's not yet noon there. I vote for trimming the body short and keeping the face and tail longer (maybe trim it a little)................I bet she will look like a DOLL! (Not that she isn't one already :D ) Remember Sophie..........she had such long hair.............her mom gave her a beautiful cut! |
How I am going to have Jewwels done (if I get up the nerve to have her cut down) is cut the body short but leave the legs longer and leave the face longer |
I remember the first time I took Jack for what I thought was a puppy cut. He came back shaved. Be very specific with your instructions. |
2 Attachment(s) :p I ALWAYS keep my dogs face and tail longer. I ask for a short cut with a long face no cut on the tail and a small skirt. It looks like this... In clothes it doesn't look like she has short body hair but the hair does does not get matted up. :p |
1 Attachment(s) I do Chewy myself, so it's not professional by any means, but I scissor cut his lenght at about 2 1/2 to 3 inches. I cut a little shorter above his eyes. |

Daisy went to get a cut today and I have her cut short all the way around becuase she doesnt like to be brushed. I think if she's like getting brushed keep her face longer, just trimmed. Good Luck! |
Chewy looks great. Could you let us know more on how you cut him? Do you do it wet or dry and what size scisors do you use etc. Thanks |
Is her tail cropped? I think it would look odd if the tail had longer hair and was cropped. I vote for keeping the face a little longer, but everything else short. Good luck!! |

I do Ferdinand myself also. You do a great job   Quote:
I do have a Wahl Pet clipper for his booty also. I've always done it dry - I think doing it wet would be really hard. |
Well... Off we go!!! I'll post when we get back!!! But when I meant long face... All the faces that are posted are Short in compared to Paris... hers is almost to the floor! lol I guess I should bring it up a bit huh??? lol |
im signing on aim now ! |
It depends on what you want. I am keeping face Jewels the same length. I put cloths on her all the time so I want the long hair look without keeping up with the grooming of the body that I always have clothes covering it anyway |
cant wait to see the new haircut... im sure she gonna look beautiful |

Your dog is so adorable. I really love her cut. For some reason, she really looks like a girl! |
Thanks Brutus'mama and Janie Doyle! When I trim Chewy, I do it dry after a bath. I first do the body. I put some hair between forefinger and middle finger, then turn my hand upright, with the pinky on his body and cut right above the forefinger (I know I am making this sound more complicated than it is!). That leaves about 2 1/2 inches. I curve the body hair into to leg hair. Around the face, I comb straight out to the side and cut even with his outer ear. I use some curved scissors that I bought from Petedge, they have a blue handle, I think that the curve in the scissors is nice because you don't have such straight cut lines. Hope this helps! |

I tried to cut my babies once and that is the picture on my avatar but they looked like funny triangle faced dogs, lol... |

Awwwww......:p Thank you so much! She's super girly!!! and she's my baby :p These Yorkies are simply the best and I don't know what I would do without her!!! They give pure, unconditional love...:p |
I want to see pictures of my Paris!!! :D |
Can't wait to see the new doo!!! I didn't get on here fast enough, but I just did my Travers hair at Christmastime. He had really long hair and I left the face totally long, but cut the body about 2 inches. He still looks cute, but is much easier to comb, (which he hates)! Nancy |
ok.... She is still at the groomers! I'm sick to my stomach!!!! I could just die!!! I seriously went over and over and over my instructions with the groomer. And I ever asked that they NOT tip her ears... I do that, and I gave her a bath, cause I don't want cheap shampoo used on her. So they agreeded not to give her another bath... And i seriously parted her hair to show where I wanted them to STOP cutting! lol I held the hair to show the length, then drew a picture! lol I left no stone unturned... I said to leave the tail long... I can always cut it if I want to. And her face long.. I can cut that as well as I'd like... But her body and leggs should be about an inch long.... Yikes!!!!! My husband has to come with me or I may hit the floor!!!! I don't know what to expect when I come in!!!!! I made her run a comb through her in front of me to confirm that there were NO tangles... so I had better not see a shaved dog when I get there or I'll have someones you know what!:thumbdown Pray for me guys!!! Pray that she looks amazing!!! I have always done my own grooming! This is huge for me!!!! I really hope everything turns out ok! |
Hurry Kathryn, we need PICS! |
O.k....I am dying to see pictures!! I bet she will look beautiful! |
any news yet? |
I can't wait to see pics. I know how scary this is. When I first cut Sophie's I was a nervous wreck but now I love it. :) |
Is she all done? |
AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! My camera battery is DEAD! But the upside is..... She looks great! :D I'll take pictures first thing in the am! I Promise!!! They left her body about 2 and a half inches long... I asked for an inch... but they were so scared to CUT! They said she was Sooooo pretty! I felt bad asking them to do it! lol But you can always cut more off... you cant put it back on! And she looks good! I'll take her down shorter in the summer maybe??? Maybe not! lol |
