Our Little Hero Max.... I just thought you might like to hear a story of a yorkie saving a life since so many of us have saved yorkies lives, they can save a life too. We live in the country on an acre in N.M. where the Navajos live and they love their goat meat(to greasy for me). We have some Navajo neighbors who have goats. My Max is all boy. He goes to do chores and if there is a mud puddle he will go through it, he is all boy. It wasn't time for chores but Max kept running to the door to go do chores. We just figured he wanted to go since we had made him stay in the last couple of days because it has been soo coold. I got my coveralls on and told my hubby I was going to do chores and Max was coming too since it was alittle warmer today. Well, we went out and Max ran for the barn just barking and raising heck, looking I saw all my animals and just figured he was excited.I went into the barn and all this time Max is just all over, then I hear this sound like someone strangling. I followed Max to back of barn and there caught in the fence, just not long from death is a goat with his horns stuck in the fence standing on his tiptoes. I jumped fence to hold him up and wondered how I was going to get him out. I looked at Max and gave him my glove and told him "Go get Dad" I didnt really know if he would do it or not but it was my only shoot as I had to keep this goat on his feet. He took my glove to my hubby who thought it was me hurt and came running. We got the goat safely out and called the owner cause he was not in good shape. When everything was over, the neighbor came over with the biggest Tbone steak you have ever seen all cooked and garnished for a King. Turns out this was a Champion Billy worth some big bucks and they were so thankful. So our little Max is a Hero. So now because I do have bad hips and my hubby does worry when I go out I am not allowed out without my Max by my side cold or not. Dont worry he has a new sheepskin coat with hood and boots to match. I am sooo proud of him. |
What a wonderful story! I'm glad you have Max to help out with your chores and watch out for everyone! He is a super smart fella. :D |
Aww, Max is a true hero! That's a great story! You have a wonderful super Yorkie boy there! I gotta ask, was the T-Bone steak for Max? And if so, did he devour it in a minute? ;p |
fasteddie, you are from my home town. Wish I was back home. Yes, it was for Max. We did not let him have the whole thing. I took the meat and cut it up in litte pieces and put it in the freezer for treats which will last him quite a while, He did get the bone though which he proudly carries around the house and teasing the cats. He is a little nut and I love him to death. |

I am sooo impressed with Max!!! How did he know to go get your husband? We are all wondering? Kathy |
We didn't really train him to go get my hubby, but when he comes home from town Max will hear the door slam on the car and the sqeaky front gate. He will look at me and I will say "Whos that? Is that dad? Go get him." So I guess when I told him to go get dad he did. This did surprise us too but having yorkes for 20 years I know how smart they are. |
I forgot to say when I tell him go get dad when he comes home, he will run to the door and greet him. |
That's incredible!! Good job, Max!! You're the official YorkieTalk Hero!! ;) |

WOW Max the wonder dog :) what a great story. Thank you so much for sharing. |
I loved Max's story. I have one, too. I am a diabetic and monitor my blood sugar very well. I have had my disease under control for years. Chewie is my Yorkie who is 14 months old. He likes to lay on the bed when I nap and watch tv. One afternoon I was sleepy and very tired and lay down for a nap. CHewie kept getting in my face and pestering me. He got up on my chest and laid down, which is a load, cause he weighs 15 pounds. He was very persistant, that I not go to sleep. So finally I got up and when I stood, I could tell something was wrong. I tested my sugar and it was too low. I went and ate something and tested again and was fine after about 1 hour. I hate to think of what would have happened if he had let me go to sleep? I might not have woke up. I can't tell you how special he is to me. I know that they have dogs that can tell when someones sugar is low, but I didn't know that I had one! It just goes to show how special dogs like Max and Chewie are ,Keep up the good work guys!! |
YAAAY and good job Chewy to save his Mama!!!! People just do not know how smart animals are and thats sad because a life without animals would be awful boring, course Yorkies are the smartest arent they yorkie lovers? Does anyone else have a hero story? |
What a great story and What a great little boy you have. |
What a GREAT story. Max is a real hero!!! It is amazing that Max "understood" that his goat neighbor was in trouble. |

And what about Chewie -- I bet you'll listent o him from now on. You know, you could probably work with him and have him genuinly certified as a Service Dog -- he has already saved your life once. |
