Hi, Congratulations! Is this a reputable breeder? Did someone refer you to this person? I would be sure before sending money out, don't use western union or money gram. She's a beautiful puppy. I pick mines up in 2 weeks and she's 2 1/2 hours away from me.

jrsygal37 01-17-2007 07:11 PM

She's beatiful. Eight weeks seems a little young though to take her home, but maybe some more experienced in breeding could put their two cents in. Best of luck with her. Elaine

She's a cutie! ;) I do have to agree though, that 8 weeks does sound awfully young to be leaving to go to a new home.

yeah i second this, the dog will be much easier to love, IE calmer and adjust better, if shes has just a little more time with the momma. maybe 10 weeks?

Gingergirlsmom 01-17-2007 07:25 PM

Congrats! She's a real cutie!

AllieJo's Mama 01-17-2007 07:38 PM

I got Allie at 8 weeks too. Where is this lady at? I got Allie in Canton. Is there anyway you can physically take her the first half? Check out her home and her babies in person?

Txgurl06 01-17-2007 07:47 PM

I think people hav something "wrong" to say about it out of concern. We have heard so many horror stories and can all fall victim of scams. I would ask her to photocopy an Id and send it to you. LOL Just make sure she is legit as best as you can. Is she a reputable breeder?

Txgurl06 01-17-2007 07:52 PM

she said she weigh 1lb 4oz right now the mom is 4lbs lbs and the dad is 3.5lbs

I'm sorry if everyone seems to be saying NO don't get this one, don't do that, etc. BUT it's only because we care about you and your future puppy. We all want you to have a nice, healthy, well adjusted puppy that is a joy from the very beginning. Really:love: When it's right, it'll all come together. Now if she would be willing to wait for you to see the pup and make sure that you really want her, you could put a deposit on her this time and pick her up in a few weeks, when she's really old enough and strong enough to be away from Momma and her littermates. I'm really suspicious of folks that want to get rid of thepuppies so young. That to me shows that the don't know a whole lot about Yorkies (or any toy breed for that matter). That i sa TINY puppy and it can so easily become a heartache and a huge vet bill if it's not old enough to be away from Mom, and even then it can be scary if they're still itty bitty.

Please, don't give anyone any money until you've LAID EYES on the puppy, in person. If they're on the up and up, they will understand, and truthfully, they should be interviewing YOU to see if you are suitable to own a small puppy. I hope that she is asking you a lot of questions, that is a good sign as well. Most good breeders want to meet a person before they decide to let one of their puppies go to them. They care.

I guess all I'm sayin' is go slowly with this. I'm not at ALL saying that you "can't handle" a teeny puppy, or that this puppy isn't healthy, or anything negative about this breeder . I would just hate to see you suffer the heartbreak of it all. Ask this breeder if she would consider letting the puppy stay for a couple more weeks. If she says yes AND says yes to waiting to see the puppies before giving a deposit, then I'd feel a lot more confident in her as a responsible breeder.

Grayson's mom 01-17-2007 08:34 PM

congratulations! I read all your posts so I am sooo glad it is working out for you, can't wait to see more pictures when you get her!

Txgurl06 01-17-2007 08:42 PM

hey maybe one of you guys could email her and said yall were interested in a male. and ask her all that stuff and tell me what you think of her
liek for a photocopy and stuff

Amber_lv 01-17-2007 08:46 PM

Congrats on your baby and i am glad you found one. The only advice i have is this i know 4 hours is a long drive but think about it this way it's an investment in your future with all the scams going on in your area why not just be sure ya know also it's not that far and you should see how they live and treat the animals. I drove an 1 1/2 just to go look at a puppy and when i got there i didn't like it but i wanted it before looking at the pics it's really hard to make a good desision without seeing the puppy first. What if when you get it you notice something off and they won't give you your money back? This way you can take them the money in person and see everything and feel great about it. Also about the age it is young but i got Peeka at 6 weeks 4 days and yes that was way to early but he was fine and no problems with low blood sugar but i am a stay at home mom to and was with him every second. We got Daisy at 11 weeks and ther is a big difference in her attitude she is very friendly and ambitious where Peeka is a little shy and scared sometimes. But if she is being sold at that young there is no reason not to get her it's you or someone else. I would ask for more pics to so you can see her better. sorry so long we really do care and only want the best for you and your new baby good luck and keep us posted!
Ps you would only be out 4 hours and some gas money verses a lot of hard earned money if it wasn't legit ya know

Txgurl06 01-17-2007 08:56 PM

yeah i asked her everything everyone told me i should ask a breeder!
she has the mom and dad there. papers, shots, health guarantee. i guess i could see if my mom wants to drive down there and see her. she is already supposed to be sending me more pics of her. and i think im gonna wait till tomorrow till i find out more

doortego 01-17-2007 09:07 PM

I hate to be a downer too but I wouldn't give anyone I didn't know any money until I had personally seen her home and the pup & its parents. Definitely at least the mother with a 7 week old pup. And again she really is too young to leave her mom at 7 wks even though 1 lb 4 oz is not that small at 7 wks. I got mine at 9 weeks which I now know was too young & she weighed 13 ozs. I realize that I was very fortunate not to have any problems other than a bout with coccidiosis with a puppy that young. She is 4 lbs now at 9 months.

Little Bit 01-17-2007 09:35 PM

I drove 13 hours round trip to get my first yorkie and 6 hours round trip to get my other two. I work also, but just went on a weekend.

Good luck! I hope you finally get your little girl.

Nancy

AllieJo's Mama 01-17-2007 09:37 PM

Could you maybe email me her info so I can snoop around? If you decide to my addy is Brandynkids@sbcglobal.net

chachi 01-17-2007 09:43 PM

Drive over so you can see the pup and the parents this weekend and giveher the deposit or the full amount then

sweetr72 01-17-2007 09:46 PM

I would have a hard time giving my money to anyone sight unseen....I know its exciting but can you imagine if things dont work out..you would be kicking yourself for not driving up there first. Can you go up on your day off and see the pup?

Dawn

Sugar's Mom 01-18-2007 04:35 AM

JMHO, I think half of the puppy price is way to high for a deposit. IF,, you drove down there and saw that she is what she claims to be, then giving her half or all wouldn't be so bad. two hours each way is nothing. I have people driving an 18 hour trip from West Palm beach, Florida to here in kentucky to get one of my puppies, next week. Buut she knew all about me since she is a member heree also. that really would have been your best way to go. Buy from one of the breeders on here. One thing for sure, you will not get scammed.

LuvMySissy 01-18-2007 04:52 AM

I am getting my new little girl from a breeder on YT also. I am in Michigan, they are in Kansas. But, I got good reviews on them from other people I trust. They agreed to hold the puppy for me for another three weeks till I could get a reasonable flight and as such required 1/2 as her deposit. I feel very confident in my decision and can't wait to meet them and my little Angel at the airport.

But, I agree that with such a small sized pup, 8 weeks is too early to take her home. I would wait until at least 10 weeks. A 2 hour drive really isn't that much. I've done that for a Yorkie meet-up!! I would make the drive this weekend to see her and check them out and then if you feel everything is okay, I wouldn't have a problem giving 1/2 the money. Good luck and I hope it all works out for you.

FlDebra 01-18-2007 04:57 AM

I don't think that pic is a 7 week old pup -- did she say it is current or from a few weeks ago? I have to agree with the others -- no one is saying anything against the breeder or the pup but you can't put your faith and $$ into online pics and a person you never met's word -- unless you have some pretty solid referrals.

Several here have put money on a puppy that looked beautiful in all the pics only to find the dog that arrived or was ready for pick up was entirely different. There was another lady just recently that put down a deposit and then the puppies died while the breeder still had them. The lady now refuses to give her "nonrefundable deposit" back! There are just so many things you need to find out by seeing them face to face. I would definately make the drive or find one closer to you.

Ah Jodie you are getting a new little girl! I am so excited for you. What YT member are you getting her from? Sissy is gonna be so happy with a new baby sister

rachelsyorkie 01-18-2007 05:36 AM

Usually people ask for $100 or $200 deposit, not half. I would ask her if you can bring the money to her cause you are so excited & want to see her. If she gives you a bunch of excuses & says she will just send more pics, it will be best to just send the money-red flag. If she agrees I would scedule a day & wait til that day. Say its saturday then see if she tries to cancel. If not call her early that morning say you are getting ready, if she says great be careful & has gave you directions & a home number good-if not -red flag. Then about 15 minutes later call & say something has come up so you are paypaling the money now. I usually go to anywho.com & do a reverse look up, you put a phone number in & it gives you the name & address so you can be assured everything matches up, also call that number & talk to her so you know it is the actually people. Good luck, we want your next thread to be showing off that little one, not saying you got taken. I would ask the lady when the time comes to pick her up if she feels shes ready, because its best to wait til 10wks at least, 12 is recommended. Also Royal Canine Puppy has tiny little bites puppies can eat. Petland doesnt carry it but everywhere else does. :animal-pa

Angela 01-18-2007 06:06 AM

From what I read this puppy is 450?? If so I can understand half for the deposit b/c its not much to start with ( not much for a yorkie is what I am saying ) I think you will be fine money-wise if she is located that close to you. I would tell you that I have a yorkie that I got at 7 weeks ( the breeder lied about her age ) I have 4 other yorkies that I got as puppies but, they were at least 12 weeks. It makes ALL the difference in their social skills. The puppy I got at 7 weeks will be 3 years old this Summer and she is very sweet, but kinda " slow " She just always looks lost. She is just now starting to get better. Anyway, good luck with this puppy and find out how old that puppy was in the picture....its defianlty younger than 7 weeks but, oh so adorable! What names are you thinking of?
P.S. I know buying is scary, I imported 3 show line yorkies from Canada, Had to drive almost 23 hours round trip to get to the Airport they flew into. With just 2 hours ( thats nothing ) between you I would encourge you to go play with her, put your eyes on her, and leave the deposit.

Congratulations!!! We are all excited for you , we just are trying to protect you from another scammer, because unfortunately there are 2 many out there. When I got Cali, I called and talked to the breeder for 45 minutes and felt good about her. My husband drove me there on his day off and it was a 3 1/2 hour drive and w had not seen any pics. The house was beautiful, clean and Cali was 6 weeks old and sooo tiny. We decided we wanted her and put 1/2 down 750.00 and they gave us a receipt with all the info on it as to who the parents were and health gurantee. We went back in 3 weeks and picked her up and paid the other half. I really hope you can get someone to gowith you to go see the puppy or someone on here who is closer can. Cali was 1 lb at 9 weeks and pretty scik when we got her home so you rerally want to make sure the puppy is healthy. Thankfully I no longer work and I was able to keep a close eye on her 24/7 and avoided some near death situations with hypoglycemia. Owning a healthy Yorkie is the greatest thing but getting one that is too young or sick is just heartbreaking and expensive. I guess what I am trying to say is that the people on YT have very good real life experience with all of this and we really want you to get a healthy adjusted puppy and not get scammed. I hope this works out and in a few weeks your baby is home with you.

Yorkiedaze 01-18-2007 01:12 PM

I offer my congratulations on your new girl, but I question the sellers ethics. A reputable breeder would never let one go under 12 weeks old. They need that time to become well adjusted and they learn so very much from the mom. Could that breeder just keep that young baby with her mom for 5 weeks?
