Roach backs are more prevelant in tinies I do believe. They are also not such a bad thing for a "tiny" as it is a stronger back.YOu can correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I was taught.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. Yes, I'm not blaming all of it on her. I know that I was to blame too for not paying attention to the important things.

AWWWWW, I am so happy you found just the right home for her. It is a blessing and a sadness at the same time..She will be happy in her new home and after a while, you can start your search again. Mercy me, these babies are hard to let go but when it is necessary, we just put them in the bestest homes we can find..

When looking for a future breeding dog u must do your homework! Educate yourself about the breed then when looking for a dog as someone knowledgeable to go with u or ask for referals from your vet. The hernia is worse than the roach back & puppies are know for their bite to shift as they grow. If u want a breeding dog then u want something that is near show quality. As soon as this breeder mentioned hernia I would have ended the conversation. No not all show prospects are great dogs but the difference between a show dog & a pet is the presence of a major fault, according to the Breed Standard & the difference between a show dog & a breeding dog is a minor fault. A Hernia & a roach back are major faults & should only be sold as a pet not a future breeding prospect.

actually...........In my opinion, i think $700 for a pet qulaity pup with a hernia and a roach back is rather expensive... I got my perfectly healthy yorkie for $500 (and this was in california.......... where EVERYTHING is overpriced)..... why cant you keep her and get another dog to breed???? and what avenues are you pursuing with the breeder you got her from? (if any) ..... I understand that you dont want to take a loss, but $700 is way more then i was willing to spend on a yorkie oeriod let alone one that had obvious faults

Coming purely from a rescue point of view this is why we have Duncan he was too big and by the time we got him he was 6-8 months old and had to our knowledge 6 homes so giving up a dog because it has "defects" sounds awful to me. :( And in case OP is not aware the laws of libel exist on the internet too so naming people in this way is very dangerous.

I really didn't want to go this route, because I don't like to start an argument. I paid $900 for my momma yorkie as pet quality. She is perfect in everyway. Her back is straight as a pin, excellent bite, low to the ground. If you would have read my story, I bought her for breeding. Yes, I was uneducated on the hernia being heriditary. You think I gave her up for cosmetic reasons. I will not breed a dog that is less that perfect. Gia had 3 major faults with her. She was still a beautiful girl and will make her new owners very happy as being a PET ONLY!

I see what your saying, I guess if you were intent on breeding her , then you did what you had to. But , in NY the prices for pet quality Yorkies are 2-3 times as much, so I would have been skeptical of the price. I am sure it was heart-breaking for you and I hope she is happy in her new home. Sorry for any offense.

I also apologize txshopper if I had offended you by my post. I did feel the same way as Hannah about the whole ordeal, but I am very happy that you made sure she found a great home and I commend you for that. I just get a little heated when talking about our "babies"

I completely understand and I accept your apology. I had been offended by what you had said and that is why I had not replied sooner. I also call my 4 pups my babies and I'm going to sell them too. If I knew you personally and you were a friend, I would probably call your children my babies too! It's just the way I am. I work in a school and several of the students there I consider my kiddos. Maybe it's just a Texas thing! ;)
