Sheryl - my opinion would be you are very lucky that Jeter is not a marker or a humper, you might not get so lucky with another boy. If Jeter isn't a barker and you get a pup, the pup will follow what he does. You've been to a couple play dates now and you know how quiet most of the pups have been, so I don't think that barking would be an issue just because there are two. The only reason Sissy barks is because of our other dog who is a major barker. I don't recall Sissy barking at all till about 9 months. Let's go get our new pups together!!!!!! |
I now have three and don't regret it at all. (well ok, maybe early in the morning to go outside potty!) Mine are all females. I would recommed a female if you have a male. Just my opinion. As for barking, right now my little pup barks the most but that is when she is trying to get the 2 older ones to play with her! omega |
ok, so my next question is.......who has a breeder to recommend in and around Michigan? I think I am going to go the female route. Thanks for your help again. |
I now have a pair of clowns :D . At first when I brought Lulu home Lex wasn't all that happy about her. After three or four days he warmed up some. Now they just love each other. It's nice for him to have some doggie company. Lex is a year older than Lulu. Good luck. |
i have 3 yorkies at the moment and at most had 4 all together, i love having more than one. im getting a shih tzu in a couple of weeks which will be my first none yorkie so back up to 4 dogs i go again:) the only thing i would say is get a female as a playmate as if you have 2 males with there man bits you may have a fighting problem or a marking problem. |
I have 2 yorkies who are about a year apart and they get along fine, yes sometimes play rough & fight over toys but that is normal. I don't have any issues with jealousy at all. Its a good idea to get another one so your dog has company. |

If your boy is not aggressive with other dogs, then I'm sure he will have no trouble having a brother or sister to play with. They seem happier when they are not the only *kid*. I got Zada first when she was 3 months old. We played with her all the time, but she seemed a bit lost, so when Zada was 6 months old we went back to the same breeder and got Zada's first cousin, Azrael who was five months old and they acted like long lost friends right from the start. It's been wonderful!! You never see one without the other. |
I got my 2nd pup about 6 months after I got my first (boy first then a girl). I think *I* personally would of preferred just one dog, but my boy has changed for the better because of having another pup in the house. Neither of them freak out when I put them down anymore, my original pup was very timid and shy and is now so much more active and happy. There is a lot more noise now ... they play fight a lot and its crazy at times, but I do believe that my dog is much happier for having a companion. My boy is neutered so having a female pup isn't a problem. (she will be getting spayed as soon as she is old enough). |
The More The Merryier!! Well I don't have more than 1 Yorkie but We do have 4 dogs in total. 1 Bulldog - Maggie, 5years old, 2 Basset Hounds - Kylie & Rumpford, 3 years old (Brother & sister) and then Our Wee Rosie. We were recommended to get a pal for our Bully when she reached about 2 years old, according to our Breeder, Bullies really like companionship of both human & animal kind when socialized well. Then add extra preassure from 3 animal crazy Kids we got the "DEVIL DOG & HER DUMB SIDE KICK". Then this past Christmas after much back & forth about my love of the YORKIE since childhood My dear sweet husband bought me My Wee Rose who is 1 year old and 3 1/2 lbs . The brood all get along and if I knew how to put a picture on here I would show you my recent most picture my Hubby took of "The Rose guarding her big Sis Maggie " on our coach as she sleeps ...lol . So my vote goes with get a 2nd Furbaby and enjoy double the LOVE! |

Well i guess i can add to this we just got Daisy she is 11 weeks and i have Peeka who is almost 9 months. Peeka loves her already and they have so much fun. It is a little harder to spread the love because Peeka is such a cuddler and want my attention 24-7 but he is adjusting well. I love having 2 and i already want another one. |
I got Lucy in March of '05 at 12 wks and Rebel in Oct of '06 at 6 wks and I love having 2:) I wouldn't trade them for the world. I think it's better to have one of each though. Lucy was jealous of Rebel and I think it was a little easier with him being male. |

I only have one furbaby. Lexie is used to being my one and only. I think it would be difficult on both of us to get another one. I like being able to devote all of my attention to her. I also can take one with me easier than if I had two. And 2 does mean double the vet bills, ect. Just another perspective. There are plenty of people that have more than one that are as happy as can be. Its a difficult decision! But I am sure you will make the best choice for your family :) |
