I think a reason why they're so popular is some people (no yters of course) view them as fashion accesories, thanks to people like paris hilton and jessica simpson. The tinies look like little toys or stuffed animals because of their size. That's appealing to a lot of people. Everybody wants a puppy, and tinies look like puppies/babies forever which I think is another part of their appeal.

To me its like buying a house, a car, a bird, a cat or anything. Everyone is different and like different things. So therefore, its just a personal preference for who ever is doing the buying. And I feel like whoever buys and pays should get what they are looking for if possible without being criticized or giving an explaination. What would anyone say if everyone wanted a big one and nobody would buy the little ones? Then they would all be wondering why nobody wanted to take care of a little ones. Woud everyone feel like nobody had the patience, money for vet bills or whatever. Would they all be in rescue or put out to be killed or starved? Some dogs just dont get big, just like kids. In my opinion, to each his own without question. I dont question anyone for whatever size they get. It must be what they want for whatever reason. I have a big one and a small one. I love them both, but I didnt want one over 5 or 6 lbs, due to lots of reason. I do not take mine place hardly at all except to the vet or a few times to the pet store. They dont visit relatives. I wanted 2 under 6 lbs due to the fact, that is just what I wanted and hubby works and makes our money so we spend it on our preferences and I dont owe any explaination for what we spend it on, whatever it may be. I dont criticize others for their choices in life. To each his/her own. So please don't take this personal, its just my honest opinion. I feel everyone should please them selves, their the ones that have to live with their decisions. I think I've seen more threads here about this one topic than anything else I think.

Not clear about this, but is this your dog?? All I can say is WOW, absolutely stunning. Yes, I like the baby doll faces too, and the coloring, and height proportional to length.

If it weren't for vet visits and buying clothes I wouldn't even KNOW what my girls weigh....:) :) :) I'm just glad they're healthy. Cheri is very small to me at 5.5 lbs. (just had a vet visit lol)

Nope, he's not mine, I wish haha:D ! I was going to look into getting him, but decided I'd prefer a puppy. But he's absolutely gorgeous isn't he?!?!? LOL! I agree on the small poop too!!!!!! So much easier to clean up!

My Sunshine (In my Avatar) is 4 1/2 to 5lbs, My Wiggley is 8lbs my chi is 12lbs (she is 14 years old) I love them all the same I can carry anyone of them if need be....Peanut is 4lbs, She-Devil is 7lbs.....I got all sizes and love them all they are my world....I worry about them as they were my children.

I think it's what YOUR heart desires big or little gotta love them all.

cause unless your sneaking them in they can go anywhere
austin is like 12 pounds and i carry him he walks and he goes in a stroller either way he comes EVERYwhere

when i was looking for a yorkie i wanted a small one(5) but brownie ending up growing more
NOW that im older i prefer him larger since i am a active ruff person and having children in the future a large yorkie fits in our family and most FAMILYS better than under 6 pounder would

But I think most, not all, but most people ended up with a teapot, not necessarily looking for one. Many here, including yourself have said you wanted a small yorkie but the yorkie went over the standard weight. I would venture to guess that most people didn't expect their yorkies to get above 5-7 lbs, and those who seek teapots probably have children or a lifestyle that is more conducive to a bigger dog. Many people have mixed terrier, chihuahua and other breeds that are just as nice in looks and temperament and are in the bigger range.

but not all breeds fit what people are looking for
i am one of those people that think they should have the size they want thats fits into there life as long as there healthy
yorkies are not like every breed
i dont think someone should have to settle with something else just because some people believe large ones shouldnt exist

I completely agree with you. Larger yorkies would make for excellent family pets, but I also don't think people are wrong for wanting or as the original post stated obsessing over a tiny one. I don't see anything wrong with wanting a dog that you can carry around with you. I love being able to take Coco everywhere with me, because I hate leaving her home. Really other than work and doctors visits, she goes everywhere, whether hidden or obvious ;) I just think threads like this are pointless because as humans we all have different needs and preferences and trying to dissuade or find out WHY someone would want a tiny is pointless. They need a home too.

Sorry but I couldn't let that one pass .... now that you're older? Aren't you still a teenager? This is a good point -- everything is relative. Small to me may be diferent to you. Large may mean something different to you and me. "Older" is definately different to me than it is to you. LOL -- I am cracking up here and it is making my wrinkles, I mean laugh lines stand out! (BTW I am 50+)

There is plenty of room in this world for any size Yorkie!

I don't either..lol...No but I think it's absolutely true, it shouldn't matter to anyone else why you want a particular size yorkie. As long as it's healthy, that's all you can ask for. I also searched for ahemm...teacups when I was searching but quickly learned a lot. I would love Coco even if she was 50 lbs, because of her personality. Her size is merely convenient for my lifestyle :D plus she's like a puppy to me and she's almost 2 and smaller poop helps too...haha

Just want to make clear I don't sneak my animals into anywhere they are not supposed to be... that being said, Maggie is the smallest dog I ever had, I've had german shepards (45 kg) and a poodle (9 kg)... W/ Maggie the owners of stores let me come in even when animals are not allowed... but the same Never happened w/ the other ones...

Another thing, I am a strong girl and depending how long I had to carry my other babies I used to get really tired...

Actually the temperment can vary from dog to dog. Not all have good ones! My grandmother's dog is mean as a snake. Some Yorkies aare good with kids and others aren't. So don't assume the temperments are all the same. As far as looks go...IMO The looks tend to change the bigger they are. Even tho they are all simply adorable I see notable differences when it comes to sizes. JMO

Great point! I want a tiny, I personallly like them, but i like larger yorkies too. I don't however like the way some people look at larger yorkies as a defect and not as good as good as smaller ones, when that isn't the case. It makes me so sad :(

but like every breed yorkies have there own little things that EVery yorkie does

they all look the same to me slight difference still doesnt change them someone shouldnt have to get a different breed just because there slight difference in them the same differences can also be in tiny yorkies
