My Sadie was 2 lbs at 8 weeks...she is now just about 6 lbs. I don't feel this is a big dog...matter of fact I think she's small...Sadie is my first Yorkie I read all I could before I invested in this breed and, then found this site....I have learned so much from everyone here... I have seen yorkies that have a better coat than Sadie, shorter legs, shorter body and she has a slight roach back...I love her with all of my heart...I fell in love when I first saw her at 5 weeks old. My brother asked me if someone offered me $1,000.000.00 for her if I would sell her...I told him not on my life! I have read many weight question posts on here and if you go back and read some of them you may be surprised...some of the furbabies that seem to be "big" when they are weeks old didn't gain that much more weight as adults...of course some did but, you can never tell...just like humans...If it were me??? I wouldn't get rid of her but, if you are going to be upset because she isn't a "purse puppy" I would rehome her...you don't want the dog to suffer because of her size. |

OMG she is PERFECT!!! As i thought i was over my puppy fever i have to see these pics  Now it's all coming back again, thanks LOL She is a doll baby, give her tons of hugs & kisses from us! ;) |
I have a 10 pounder and a puppy that should be around 5 lbs. My daughter likes our bigger girl better because she's more meaty and not so delicate. My big girl's parents were 5 & 9 pounds so I didn't know if I would get the larger or smaller size. Also she was the last to go out of the litter so I had nothing to compare with, but 3 or 13 pounds doesn't matter when you see how much unconditional love these babies give. The main concern I have is if your puppy's size is this much of an issue then it would probably be best for the puppy to have a differant home, especially if you haven't bonded already. |
Have you considered the potential health issues you could face with a dog that weighs 3lbs fully grown?? I'm surprised you haven't already fallen head over heels for your new baby. I was attached to mine the minute I saw him and wouldn't change one single thing about him! I sort of doubt the breeder will take the puppy back. Heck, I'll buy her from you!! |

I agree, people should keep serious matters serious and if they have nothing better to do with their lives than to post replies that are not serious and make fun of people and insult them...well, I feel sorry for them :( |

You're worried about me being rude and insulting? Um, atleast I LOVE the dog I got! When I first took him to the vet the vet said maybe 10lbs! I didn't care about size..I still wanted him! Also, he was cryptorchid, which costs a lot more than a general nueter. His previous owner looked at me and thought I wasn't going to get him...guess what, I DIDN'T care! I still loved him and nothing about his physical being was going to change that, even with money being an issue. I dont undertsand that you "love" this dog, but want to get rid of her because of her size? Do you even know what love is? Obviously not. And I'm not sorry, but your going to get no sympathy from me. Like it's already been posted, it's because of buyers like you that make breeders breed for the smallest, and then us who really do care about the yorkie itself and not just the size gotta suffer with making it harder for us to find a reputable breeder, not to mention the yorkies that are suffering because of this. I don't feel bad for you one bit. Do you honestly think anyone who cares about dogs would feel bad for you? If your looking for sympathy, you came to the wrong place. And you really can't get on me for being rude or insulting, because look at how mean you are being to even think of getting rid of a baby because you think she's not going to be a tiny. For you to call me "rude and insulting" it's the pot calling the kettle black. |
how did you get her name to show up with her picture I want gracie's name on hers??? |
If you really don't want her, my sister, who lives near you, will come pick her up tomorrow. I will fly out to VA and pick her up in a week or two. This is not a joke. We would give Zoe a lovely home. Think about it. |
Villette,Red98vett made that for her |

i personally think everyones post is very serious ,this is a serious thread . jmo |
I agree if you're not going to be happy with her then give her back. If you're hung up on size then get the small one that you desire. But I just wonder if the small one turns out to have problems, be hard or impossible to house break. have the wrong kind of hair, be nervous and shakey be roach backed, have big ears, and so on, are you going to dislike her also. Maybe it is your personality to want perfection and you will never be happy because nothing is perfect. |

iheartzoe~~~ she is a cutie. it would piss me off too if i didn't get what i thought i was getting. good for you for sticking with it. Troy said she needs a avatar too!!!:D |
If you're not going to love her as much as you should because of her size, give her back. I'm sorry to be blunt, but you're not going to get sympathy on a yorkie board if you're posting about giving back your dog because she's 2 pounds. What if you got an adult? Then you would already be gaurenteed a size. |
When we got Piper, we were told she wouldn't be over 4 to 5 lbs. She was 1.3 lbs at 14 weeks. We fell in love with her as soon as we saw her picture. We got her over the internet. Needless to say she is now almost 10 months and weights 6.6 lbs maybe more after the holidays. LOL... She is the most adorable sweetest little piggy in the world. I'm glad we didn't end up with a tiny, after reading all the health problems with them. I understand you wanted a tiny one, but I don't care what the breeder says about the size they predict they will be, It's just a prediction, no guarantee. |
Hi IheartZoe. First off I would like to say how beautiful Zoe is. Second, I would like to share with you that it isn't necessarily that bad that in one week you haven't "bonded" with her. Take a moment and think how you would feel if you opened a door right now and she got lost or if you found out something was wrong with her. Bet you got a knot in your tummy. I didn't feel I had bonded to my Tia but when I was challenged with the same questions, boy I knew I'd kill if anything happened to her!! Now I'd like to share with you my experience with my Tia as many of my YT supporters know what I've just been through. I have no judgement about how you are feeling... actually I really understand. But YT has alway been a place for me to educate myself so I pray you will find this post. I have 2 yorkies, Bailey who is 5.5 pounds and full grown and Tia who is 2.5 pounds and fully grown. Tia has not been sickly or has had hypoglycemic attack but one day saw thew cat jump off the couch and she went after her. All she did was jump off the couch and broke her leg. Well the vet bills have now added up to $1500.00 and we are still counting (and this didn't include any travel expenses to get to a specialist). The hardest choice I had to make was do we spend this money to get her leg fixed and what guarantees do we have it won't happen again. All she did was jump off the couch. Now that the leg is almost healed and the bills have become an excepted part of our life, I can't help but think what will I do if she does it again? I just wanted to share this with you because I promised myself that after what I had been through with Tia that I would share this with anyone posted that they thought they wanted a little yorkie. They are cute and draw a lot of attention and I get many people saying how they would love to have a dog this small, but I wonder how they would feel about the vet bills I have occurred. Just really think about what you want. It sounds to me like you have a sweet Yorkie that you can enjoy and not have the worries the little guys will give you. Best of luck with your decision! |
Welcome to YT Zoe is just precious. I have no doubt that in a few more days, you wouldn't part with her for the world. You didn't deserve the bashing you got and I apologize for it. Sometimes new moms feel the same way about their newborn babies at first. I hope that you can get past the responses that jumped down your throat. There are also a lot of nice experienced dog owners/ breeders on YT that have a lot of valuable information to give and rarely feel the need to be insulting or sarcastic. I doubt if the breeder will give you your money back so I hope that you aren't too disappointed if she turns out to be a little larger than you expected. As others have said, you really can't tell at this age how big she will be. She looks like a fine example of a Yorkie. You are fortunate that she has her little ears up so perky already. Some deal with that for quite some time and I had one years ago whose ears never came up. He was also bigger than standard but I still loved him dearly and I know you will love Zoe regardless of her size. |
i would just like to say that i agree with what some of the people have said on here, if breeders keep breeding to get smaller yorkies this breed we all love will die out as their will be no yorkies of breeding size left, its not good for the breed to keep having these tiny pups in litters. to say you want to give the pup back cos shes not the size you wanted i just cant understand, what if the next pup you get isnt the right size? maybe you should rethink about having a dog as i cant understand someone who has a puppy for a week and they havent bonded with them. when i got a call from a rescue centre saying they had a yorkie come in and did i wanna come see it i knew from that min that id be coming home with her, i walked in and saw brandi this skinny big headed long legged big long nosed yorkie with a bald patch on the back of her head and yes i will admitt i thought thats not what i had in my mind of what she would look like but i took her home with me and by that night i loved her and wouldnt part with her, shes no looker like my sasha was but shes my girl:) |
puppy As a long time breeder, it is never a done deal with me. If a person does not want my Yorkie any time during its life, I will take it back...within the first few months I will even refund most of the money. I do not want my babies anywhere they are not a cherished family member. Return her if possible, your Yorkie deserves it. |

I agree, we (well most of us) are all adults here and we need to act like adults. I'll admit, I wasn't polite in my postings on this thread, and I thought about that, but I find it so cruel to give away a pet for this reason, I let that get the better of me and didn't really double-think about my posts. This was one of those waaayy out there questions and with a group of yorkie-lovers like all of us, of course some people are going to get defensive and mean right away. Not saying it's right though, but I think that's what happened. |
Zoe is beautiful, but if you dont feel attached maybe you should give her back. If I just "think" about Tinkerbell not being with me one day I have cried, so obviously she is not the right one for you no matter what her size is!! When I got TInkerbell I knew almost nothing about Yorkies, she was 9oz at 6 weeks (I believe if not less)She was predicted at about 2lbs she is 3 1/2 and is tiny, but it doesn't matter cause I lover her no matter what her size is. Good luck to you and Zoe, I hope Zoe finds a good home if you do give her back and if you should decide to keep her love her no matter what:aimeeyork jmo!!! Oh yeah I dont hate you for that either, I think no one would:) |
I don't hate you, but I will admit I am very angry about this. Maybe you should look into getting a pet rock. I also wonder what will happen when you have children, you can't take a child back to the breeder if they happen to be fat or too tall. |
Your baby is beautiful and looks perfect to me. Make sure she knows shes special. Gotta love em.:) |
What a special baby!!!!!! I'm sure you will find it very hard to let her go. If you do, send her out here, Princess would love a little sister:D :D :D The very first time I saw Princess, I knew she was the one. After YEARS of looking for her, I found her. I really hope your love grows for her, because I can tell just by her pictures, she's special. Best of luck to you, and many happy years of Yorkie kisses.;) ;) ;) |

LOL!!! I LOve it! We have some great psychologists on this forum! |
This has to be the excitement of my night.... :lol tears :2popkorn: :eyeballpc :eyeballpc :lol2: :eyetearss :eyetearss As you all know, I am NOT one to run from controversy......and to me, I have not really seen ANY rude posts here...in fact it has been fun.....and it is nice to know everyone is still kickin after the holidays... I think the real issue is what the breeder told Zoe's Mom when she sold her the puppy.....but, it was up to Zoe's Mom to do her "due diligence", that is lawyer talk for "do your homework". In regard to the weight issue, I feel pretty confident the MOST breeders, who have bred for many, many years can give you a good idea what the weight will be with the puppy.....now if she is a new breeder....then maybe she is too inexperienced....these are questions that I still have..... But, I can understand your concern, you see, I dont use the word dissappointment....because I don't think it is ......and if you were misled then you have the right to return the puppy.......and if ZM made the assumption on what size the puppy would be.....and she now realizes that the puppy may be bigger, that mistake is Zoe's Mom and not the breeder's fault.... Heck, I am the last to advocate a tiny, I want them all to be perfect and within the breeder standard......that is the way it is supposed to be.......but, I think maybe ZM has not seen a 6 lb Show Yorkie.....because if she did.....she would realize that that is the most beautiful animal on the planet.... Good luck to all who have voiced your opinions here today.......I think you are GREAT!!!! Shirley:) |
