I really love his name . |
Thanks! Aww thanks! :p |
Cody (male) weighed about 6 1/2 lbs before and weighs 7 1/2-8 now. Abby weighed about 4 1/2-5 before and is about 6 1/2-7 lbs now. |
update so far... Well it's too early to tell about weight, I will definately update you in the general forum, but I am so happy Chibi has healed well. He had his operation last Tuesday. I felt so bad the first day. He looked so tramatized after the operation. But now he is back to his old self. His personality is the same so far. I made him a little coat, and today he will go outside for the first time since the operation. It's pretty cold here. Thanks again for all the input. |
I believe the issue with the weight is that at the time most of our pups are fixed they haven't reached their full growth yet. According to my vet it can take a year or two for a pup to reach its full size. |
Wesley did gain weight after being neutured, but I attribute it more to him getting older than to the surgery. He was 6 months when it was done so he still had alot of growing to do. He is 10 pounds now, but still very lean. |
Chewy was neutered at 7 months and he was 4 pounds. He is now 9 months and weighs 5 pounds... He is very far from fat ... Skinny I would say but it is good to see him get a bit bigger because I wasnt a sturdy little guy that I won't worry so much about. I wouldn't worry too much! |
Mojo was neutered the week of Thanksgiving and he hasn't gained any (yet). But the vet told me to wean him down to his food in the morning and just alittle bit in the evening and to make sure he gets moving throughout the day. I don't know if it is true or not. When we got Luke, he was 2 1/2 and we had him neutered because that was too much "male" in the house - that calmed him down - calmed down the, "I'm the male of the house" side of it - but he is still very active! I think that each dog is different, so they may all have different effects of the spay/neuter? I don't know though....all of our animals have always been "fixed" and we have never noticed any "real" change in their weight. |
No, just hasn't gotten any fatter since his castration. |
Dougal was 2 years when he was neutered. There weren't any growth spurts. He put on a little bit of weight - but he was painfully thin beforehand. I think the weight gain happened because when we go for walks now he no longer takes off at high speed looking for something to mate with!! :D  He is a much happier, healthier dog for the neuter. Far less neurotic and anxious. |
