Weight Estimates?? 4 Lb Yorkie At 15 Weeks my yorkie is 4.3 pounds at 15 weeks, do you guys know how much he will weigh when he is an adult?? i know there is no exact science to this, but i would like to know an estimate. any ideas??? thank you. |
That's a pretty good size but if he's healthy - why worry about what he'll weigh ? When I got my girls I had pre-concived notions about yorkies, but after learning so much from sites like this one - I'm just grateful they are happy and healthy - Whatever size he'll be... is what he's going to be. |
i agree with you, it just seems that my yorkie is so big compared to everyone elses. i thought that was a bit odd. everybodys babys weigh about 1lb...?? |
He is off the charts at 15 weeks it doesn't go that far but like V says it doesn't matter you'll love him no matter what! |
muffie was 4 lbs at 16 weeks and now is 8lbs but she is the same size of kirby who was over 3lbs at 16 weeks and now is 5.9 lbs (just took him to the vet so i know his exact weight). it is amazing, they are both the same size but a 3 lb difference. |

i have to admit, when i wanted a yorkie, i had a teacup in mind. but now that i have my baby teddy, i couldent imagine having any other. he is beautiful in my eyes. i was just wondering. thanks you guys! :) EDITED: omg... it just hit me. i wonder if i feed him a little too much.. maybe??? i give him 3 tablespoons 3x a day. so at the end of the day he eats 9 tablespoons of Royal Canin. is this too much?? |

but to tell you the truth - even when I got my girls I never even payed attention to their weight - only their MEASUREMENTS for clothes lol I can't even tell you what they weigh right now - I can guess ....but really don't know and don't care... but as long as you love him - that IS all that counts. Congratulations on your new yorkie....he's a baby still but you're in for alot of fun with him. |
prettypuppypink- that is so funny what you said about a dust mop!! lol. |
My Lex i s 9.5 lbs at a year and I have to say you wouldn't know it to look at it. He has very heavy bones. That can be the case with your baby. The thing is that sometimes you can get a small baby but they can catch a growth spurt. Some can start big and just not continue to grow so it's always hard to truly figure what you will get. I never thought that Lex was going to be that heavy. I was shocked when the vet told me his weight. I feed him totally organic food and rarely feed table food to him. So his weight was a suprise to me. Either way we love them anyhow. Lex has graduated to being my tpot yorkie. |
He is darn CUTE!!! I would love to see more pics of him... a yorkie is cute in all sizes. Enjoy your baby :) |
I think that is pretty close to what Maddie weighed at that time and she is 7 pounds full grown. To me that's not big...heck...my skin babies each weighed a bit over 7 pounds when they were born and they sure seemed tiny to me! |
4 Attachment(s) i would love to post picture sof him for you guys!! this is my first attempt at this. i hope it works!! :o |
OMG what a DOLL!!!! He is too precious, i love the first pic :) :) Keep them coming!! |

lots of people have links in their siggy lines with photo albums and there is a gallery above you can click into - and the MY YORKIE Section is the place to start sharing your pictures - that's usually the first place I go when I log on - after all this time here I STILL love looking at all the yorkies on the site...you'll see they come in all colors and sizes ...but the main thing is we all love them - period. go for it girl - you're here and you have a new yorkie - time to start posting ! |
1 Attachment(s) This is five year old Debbie who is only three pounds. She knows she's a little dog but she'll walk 6 miles into town and back and she's full of energy. Your puppy does sound like he'll be a larger yorkie but you never can tell. Some of these tiny puppes really take off while the bigger puppies slow down. All you can do is wait and see while enjoying every minute! |
1 Attachment(s) Here's a pic for you, these are my babies. Left is Chelsey of 2 years, right is Chanel of 20 months old. The little one is my wild child, she get's into anything and everything, i have to watch her ALL the time, she tries her best to act like a little lady, and copies her sister at times, but after a while she is back to where she was LOL |
what a doll baby |
Oh My goodness! You have a beautiful lil Powerhouse boy there! Structure has alot to do with weight. A heavy bone can be good......really your boy is just darling! Hes all boy....stout and about. ;) Welcome. |
2 Attachment(s) I have two yorkies and Starsky is my big boy. He weighs 10lbs. He is very tall but thin. I wouldn't trade him for the world. He is so cuddly and I really don't worry so much about him getting hurt. He can hold his own. Shylah on the other hand is very small and fragile and I worry a lot about her jumping off furniture and rough playing. She is quite cuddly too, (when SHE wants to be). I think they are all so special in their own little way no matter what size!!! |

Teddy is sooo cute!!! He doesn't seem big to me because Thumper is 5.5 lbs. at 13 weeks. :) |
bunjee was about 4.2 lbs at 16 weeks. at 1 year, 3 months now, he's a "heavy weight" at 9 lbs. he's long but he's not fat at all. and don't worry, the bigger yorkies are more common than you think. |
Jen- YAY!! you and me are in the sam boat!! lol. Everybody pictures are awsome!! red98set- I knwo what you mean. i NEVER get tired of seeing these yorkies!! They are all so unique, all with different colorings!! i love seeing pictures!! |

I would say about 8 lbs. I have heard 6wks X's 4 8wks x's 3 12wks x's 2 for adult weight. Alot of breeders/people say pups stop growing at 6 months. I have never seen that. They actually grow in height & weight til about 12 months then widen out after that. I would say about 18 months is the stop growing point & then any weight after that is over weight, lol. |
