And TO THINK - the mother of the little girl who dropped my Mini Doxie, called me a couple of weeks ago and wanted to know where I got Stedman from - she said that she was looking for another Yorkie (she already has one, 5 lbs - but that is just "TOO BIG" for her ) for her daughter for Christmas (she's 7!!!!) And she wants to get her one that will weigh 1 and 1/2 lbs FULL GROWN - nice, eh? ;) I almost fell outta my chair when she told me that. I didn't even BOTHER telling her how STUPID she is - I just simply told her, "good luck"  :thumbdown Oh and not to mention, she said that she didn't want to pay over $1200  What a joke. I don't even know WHY she would PURPOSELY want to go out and buy another dog that is SOOOOO SMALL with little kids running around the house - including a toddler who is now of course walking. She is just ASKING for a huge vet bill - or either a poor little puppy dying. Her kids are just TOO rough with dogs - especially little dogs. Anyway...sorry to ramble on. Sometimes I just get so mad at the STUPID things people say. But anyway yeah - I feel the same way as you...there are just some people ya trust with your babies, and some ya don't. Of course like you, I would feel TOTALLY comfortable with any of my YT friends holding my little guys ;) We all have them - and we all know how they need to be handled :) |
I'm getting to this thread a little late, but having recently been through a couple 40+ people parties with Yorkies, it's not a good thing. Naturally, everyone wants to play with them. And everyone has their own idea of dog care. I usually end up putting Eddie in his kennel and telling everyone he's sleeping. He doesn't have any fun, and I'm always worried about someone sneaking in. Hope your have a great Christmas whatever you decide. |
Looks You did the right thing keep your baby home from most of the post holiday post ...Some peoples yorkies did not have a good Time ... |
I am bringing this up again! Sorry I'm so slow to reply... If you do remember the last time this side of my family got together - I don't remember or know if you can search the thread - I believe I just asked you all if you would consider me "overprotective". My mothers family is completely unbearable when it comes to things like this. Pictures are not good enough - I tell my cousins (who have facebook) to check out my facebook because there are a ton of pictures of Miss Kimber on there. In ways I wish I would have went to the dinner. I didn't. I guess it almost unexplanable. Hearing 30-40 people between the ages of 0-50 whining that I didn't bring my dog, that she would be fine, etc. etc. To me it was more worthwhile to stay home. The fact my aunt called because my two cousins hadn't "seen her yet" is stupid. They are both on my facebook and can look at the pictures on there. I think because I'm young they all think they know better. My aunt (who lives far away now) had a Maltese and no one would dare even touch her dog. I want to put that fear into this side of the family. My other side of the family, well one of my aunts - has four of the most intolerable children imaginable. What did they do when they saw the puppy? They were sweet! LIghtly petting her, and didn't DARE to pick her up. Why is this? Because my dad put the fear of God into them! My dad knows someone whose yorkie was dropped and he said it was the most horrible thing ever. The pupp was fine but I guess (and obviously/understandbly) the pupp whimpered like crazy! The side of the family whose dinner it was is totally judgemental and wacko. They all thought I was a psycho "you know what" after the last incident as I finally picked up the puppy and took her with me to the couch. These relatives were trying to get her to jump from high places (they would put her there). From the couch to the coffee table (uhh no!), off the couch, DRESS HER UP - which she hates even when I do it, feed her CAKE (uhh no!),etc. After I brought her to the couch (this aunt that called to say my cousins hadn't seen her yet) came over and said to me that I shouldn't worry about her so much (the puppy, thatis) and I said "noooo she could break a bone if she jumps from there, she's not a cat" and shes like "ohh I dont think so" and she laughed at me. Family is VERY important to me, but Miss Kimber is very important to me too. I think I did the right thing - I will go to the next gathering, but I will NEVER take the puppy! |
