I am NOT trying to start a fight. I have been visiting as a guest for several months now. I have read wonderful posts but have been amazed on some others. Yorkietalk I thought would be wonderful to chat on. I have two yorks and the one is a tiny 3 pound one. The other is 6 pounds. I have noticed many people bashing others for having a tiny yorkie and I dont understand this. Many on here are so quick to judge and claim these tiny ones are unhealthy and no one should buy them. I have no problem with people being concerned of a dogs health but do you have to be ignorant when making comments about this issue? If so many of you think the small ones are bad to purchase then why are so many people on here complaining that their dogs havent stayed as small as breeders promised? I lost count on how many times I have read people saying their dog grew bigger. Practically everyone of these people then go on to say it doesnt matter and they love their dog no matter what. Then I realized that many of these same people are the ones putting down the smaller yorks. However, werent you the ones looking to buy a smaller york to begin with? Many of you say size doesnt matter but why then did so many of you when searching for your york look for the smaller ones? Why does it seem wrong to admit on here that you wanted a smaller york and it just didnt happen? I have seen several people get bashed from being honest that they wanted a small york. Whether small or big they are all adorable. But can we try not to bash these little ones. It really makes me think so many people on here are actually jealous. I'm not trying to start a fight but I had to get this off my chest. Everyone here has a beautiful dog and this bashing on each other is sad. I never wished to offend anyone in particular on here but do hope it makes some people think before saying such harsh words to others. |
i dont think alot of bashing is because the smaller yorkies..its when ppl come on and say that "hey, im thinking about breeding my 3 pound female". WHich is stupid and dumb..If theres alot of bashing on ppl getting smaller yorkies than I guess i have missed them. BTW...WELCOME to yt.. :):D :) |
Mine ended up being SMALLER than I hoped. I have 2 yorkies...one is 3lbs and the other is 3.5lbs. When I was looking for a yorkie, I wanted one between 4-6lbs and mine ended up actually being SMALLER than I had hoped for! But I love them anyway. They are perfect for me. :) |
Thank you for welcoming me. I just read through a post where someone was looking for a small york. She automatically got put down for wanting a small one. One person even said to her all tiny ones are unhealthy. The poor person was just trying to find a dog and I dont think being told she was wrong for wanting a small one was a very kind thing to do. I am glad you missed many of the things I have read because its very sad. |
I've been here a long time and have to say this - No one bashes ANYONE for having a tiny - it's the people BREEDING tinies ....and there are some people out there breeding very very small females - that's only done so THEY can make more money. I've never seen one post where a member was bashed for having a tiny yorkie - they're adorable ! EDITED TO ADD - A warning about having a small yorkie is very different than bashing someone. Some people see 'tiny' and have no clue as to what it really means to have one. One of my very good friends has a very small little female - she would NEVER EVER breed her - and she'll tell you it's much more stressful with a smaller one - She has 2 yorkies - and worries much more about her little one as they can get hurt so easily. but it's not Bashing to offer information on the size differences & what to expect. |

Again not trying to start anything. I do consider someone saying all tiny yorks are unhealthy as a form of bashing. Some people on here have dogs that are very small. My one is 3 pounds and when I read a comment like that I am offended. My boy is healthy and that isnt something I enjoyed reading. The person that made the comment doesnt know every tiny york in the world so why make a comment like that? I do find the comment offensive and I think any person with a smaller york would agree. |

but I just want to point out again - we have so many people with tinies here and I've never seen them bashed. I love yorkies of all sizes and would love a very small one myself - but I also know there's alot more involved having one and I'd be probably even MORE over-protective than I already am Mandy ...you shouldn't take a statememt like that personally - it's just flat out true they can get hpyglycemia alot easier than a larger dog - and you have to remember - people may make comments - it doesn't mean they're putting down anyone. |

did they actually say all real little yorkies are unhealthy or did they say "alot of little yorkies sometimes tend to have majior health problems? there is a difference... |
you got that right v.. well said:thumbup: |
The way I see it, "unhealthy" is one thing...."more prone to injury" is another. I think the meanings are misread often times? Kasey is healthy as an ox, but he IS more likely to get hurt doing the same thiing our 5 and 7 pounders do w/out problem. |
First, welcome to YT! :) I love YT because it's one of the few places that I DON'T get bashed for having a teapot...different subject I know, but I've always found the people here to be incredibly accepting of all yorkies What I think we get is people who really care about these little dogs and who hate to see someone getting in over their head with something they don't understand. Tinies usually do require extra caution and care...just look back through the posts for all of the ones who haven't made it because of something a slightly larger dog would live through. YT'rs just love to educate! |
