My Yorkie Is Too Dark Hi, I was just wondering why my baby's face/hair is too dark. I had her for 2 months and she is 5 months already and her face and color has not changed at all. Her nose and the surrounding area is too dark. I saw her sister when I bought her and she was not like that at all. Any idea, what color can she be later in her adult life? I have never seen a yorkie this dark. I love her anyways, though. Anybody who has a yorkie like her? what color did she/he turned out later on? |

Awww Oh my goodness, what an adorable little angel, my baby's face is dark too...probably won't turn but some of them don't ever turn in the face...genetics!!! Your baby's cute though...squish!! :) |
It took Tink until she was 2 years old to completely clear up on the face, she had black streaks on her muzzle and the middle of her head for a long time. My Gizmo is 7 and he still has some black on his muzzle. I have seen a yorkie or two on these forums that have been very dark. Do you have pics of the parents? |
I have a friend that has the tiniest yorkie I have ever seen. Her name is Isabella and she never changed from black to steel. She is almost 2 years old and she is absolutely adorable. |
What a beautiful yorkie you have. It is really hard to tell when and what color they will be. But I love the dark ones. Yours is beautiful. Buddy keeps getting lighter and lighter. I wish he stayed black but he's going to be silver. Carol & Buddy |
Awww...your baby is a total cutie pie! Yorkies come in all colors and sizes - some are bigger, some are smaller - some are lighter, some are darker ;) That's the wonderful thing about Yorkies - no two look exactly alike and each one is special and unique in their own way :) Your little one will probably stay pretty dark her entire life - she may lighten up some, but for the most part she will probably stay dark. Regardless, she is just adorable! :wub: |

Oh she is so cute!!! Cali in my Avatar stayed dark for a real long time, just recently at 17 months she is turning a lot of gold on her face but her body is still Black. |
she so adorable! and i love ur "Purebred Princess" bag! :p i dont think you should be worried at all, Remy started turning lighter really fast, i wish he stayed darker longer! i didnt know there were some so dark either, but i think its cute! im sure she will lighten up eventually though, i think all Yorkies do. |
1 Attachment(s) Hi....this is a pic of Sabastian...He will be 2 the 18th of this month and he has the darker color also. We waited around for almost 2 years for his color to lighten up to the steel color, but with no luck! My Lily had the 'traditional' colors, and that is what we expected when we bought him. We no longer worry or question his color, because he is who he is and he is beautiful to us! I think your baby girl is gorgeous just the way she is! Adds character....... |

I can't imagine why you are concerned at all. You have a beautiful Yorkie. I would much rather have a dark little Yorkie - then a lighter one. And - your Yorkie isn't that dark at all. She has a beautiful range of colors all over. Count your blessings - You have a little dog that really is probably the envy of a lot of us. Plus - I bet your pup will still lighten up some..... I don't think you Yorkie is too dark . Venus was darker when I purchased her , now she is dark steel blue and gold . |
She is absolutely adorable. I also like darker ones more. Her facial features are so cute. She looks like such a lively pet. |
She's such a cutie. My abbie had a lot of dark hair on her face when I first got her but she is REALLY light now. She just turned 2 and it took a while to grow out. Some yorkies stay dark though. I think she's a doll baby with her dark hair |

Oh My. She is gorgeous. I love her coloring, I like the dark colors and there are several here that have dark ones and their beautiful too. But I like the lighter ones too. I've decided the color doesnt make the dog because their all different and most of all their pretty too. yours is simply gorgeous tho. |
