Omg The Horror!
 

I am sick with disbelief. I have this sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach. I cant help but cry as I read on about puppy mills. I never really knew what they were. I just knew they were bad.

While searching the web for belly bands, I came across this website. They sell items to raise money in order to rescue, and give medical attention to these dogs.

As I browsed the pages I came across some horrific stories of a few different people who have walked those terrible steps through puppy mills. There's even a story of one woman's experience at an auction and how she saved a few whippits.

The images this woman saw...the abused, malnurished and underage animals. OMG. The greedy auctioneers! Puppies taken away from their mothers at only 4 weeks old. Dogs getting their jaws broken just for barking.

HOW CAN PEOPLE DO THIS! HOW IS THIS SH*T EVEN LEGAL!

I don't know that I will ever get a good night sleep again after reading this. I feel even worse that I never knew how bad these dogs had it. Here I am complaining because I don't have enough money this week to get something I want, and these poor creatures get NOTHING! I feel so selfish for ever thinking "things could be better". No matter how bad the times can be for me, or anyone, it can NEVER be as bad as what these poor babies are going through.

Dogs kept alive (barely) just so they can be bred everytime they are in heat. Twice a year, every year until the day they die! They live to reproduce and that's it. The diseases, the pain and suffering, they lonelyness (sp) the stench of death and fecal matter. OMG THE HORROR :cry8: !!!!!!

you're right to be so upset - it's all true and this is where PET STORES get their puppies ! It's totally sickening

I had a yorkie from a puppymill once. They were selling off their extra males dogs. These dogs are all very dirty and smelly and packed into small chicken cages. The one I bought had a damage ear(untreated-and healed badly) and was only at that time 4 lbs(he filled out nicely at 7 1/2lbs) It was a horrible site to see! Honestly, I think he ate his poop to survive because he smelled of it and that smell lasted for months! I was glad I got him out. He had a lot of issues but otherwise was a very good dog.

Cost $100 Vet bill: $500 with discount. Best $600 I ever spend!

I had NO idea! I got my bunny from a pet store. Do they do the same thing with rabbits as they do with dogs? How can they be stopped? How can this be legal? It's animal cruelty!!!!!!!

What about petco? Are they part of this as well? Some of their stores have cats and dogs for sale.. Ugh im so sickened by this!

I know exactly how you feel i never much about them either until i found puppmillrescue and i must say i cried the whole day on that site and also cry when i go back to that site i felt like here i am buying a 3000 dollar dog there are so many others that need a loving home. as a past rescue owner i can say the yorkie i had was very loving towards me unconditionly but he had hate towards my husband for being abused by other men i guess. i hope to adopt a rescue again even though he died 2 months i adopted him the horrible smell, rottened teeth and fragile body was well worth putting up with because when he welcomed me with his stinky kisses everything seemed worthwile. I will be honest before I got Maximus I was never a big "pet" person and I never knew much about animals.....as I started doing research into getting Maximus..I came across something about Puppymills..I will try to find the link again, but the conditons are horrendous and sickening....now that I have Maximus I feel it even more...almost like I can't explain but it makes me want to cry and when I see stuff like that I can just imaginge...what if that was my baby that I love so much and it upsets me. Wish there was something we could do to raise awareness because so many people DON'T know and they buy from puppy stores.....maybe we (yorkie forum members) could start a petition or picket against pet stores that get their puppies from puppy mills and carry it on to other pet forums.

Im interested! I'll do whatever I can to help. I don't have much to offer, but I did just email them to offer my services (free of charge) as a professional web designer. By redoing the site, I can make everything easy to navigate, which in turns allows visitors to see EVERYTHING on their site without having to search or "happen" upon it. I can also increase their traffic so more people are aware of these HORRIBLE living conditions.

I am 100% ready to do whatever I physically can to help in stopping this from happening.

Before I got Cookie I heard about puppymills like once! I didnt know that a lot of pet stores get their dogs from mills and exactly what these dogs go through.Mills do NOT get enough bad publicity. There are NOT enough stories and documentaries shown on TV. I have seen several on TV but that is not enough. They need to keep showing the puppymill stories just like they showed Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky.....a gazillion times! The same way they drag people's lives in the tabloids... If more people knew what actually goes on,less people would buy. This will continue as long as people are willing to pay $$$ for these animals. I dont think I could personally walk through a puppymill. I would be devasted .I love Cookie & Mimi so much that I could not imagine them going through something like this :(

I know what you mean. As I read these horror stories all I can think about is Prince, Angel, and their pups, suffering the way these "mill dogs" suffer. I look into their eyes and ask myself "how can anyone harm these innocent beings".

No one can stress enough - Do NOT buy from Pet Stores - they are the largest purchaser of puppies and the reason for MILLS !

Yes, he passes away 2 years after I got him out. At that time, he was living with my father. Jack had a lot of phobias and one of them was being afraid of the storm. When it rains, he freaks out. Well, what happened was it was raining really badly that night and my father was taking out the trash for it to be picked up in the morning. Jack rushed by his leg and out the door. My father went after Jack but couldn't see him because it was raining quite heavy. He drove around all night long in the storm looking for Jack but couldn't find him. Next morning, Jack was spotted on the side of the road dead. :cry: My father felt so bad. I told him it was an accident and he tried his best to find him.

That was very sad. I'm so sorry...Jack sounded very special.

Can you imagine begging to die day after day? Just hoping someone or something will take you out if your mysery? We HAVE to do something about this. Look how many members are here on YT. We can make a difference!!!!!!!!!!!

I just submitted the puppmill situation as a story to one of the local news channel's out here. Im gonna submit it to ALL of them as well as the news papers. Just because i don't have money to give them at the moment doesnt mean I cant do my part to help!!!!!!!!!

It would be really great if you all would do the same. Help these puppies live long, healthy, LOVING lives!!!

I am emailing the info to someone I know at NY1 to see if maybe they would do a segment on it and see if maybe they could push some others to do a special....dateline always has stories liek that, I will email them some of the websites and how the dogs are treated.

You also CAN do lots just by telling friends and family about mills - many people don't know about them and though they may not have the passion animal lovers have ...but no one wants to promote evil ....and mills are evil...just sick evil people making money off the misery of abused and tortured animals.

Im gonna do EVERYTHING I can to help. This bullsh*t need to stop! NOW! RIGHT NOW!

I can't understand how it's at all legal for these places to operate. THe dogs are NOT healthy, malnurished, beaten, diseased and abandoned. That IS animal cruelty. How come this is still going on?

I never knew the details of puppy mills until I visited these two sites. It brought tears to my eyes. Together, a step at a time WE can make a differnce too.

I am strongly opposed to commercial breeding kennels where the costs are minimized by providing substandard care and conditions for the dogs in an effort to increase the profit. It is morally and ethically wrong to keep dogs in wire cages for their entire lives, breeding them over and over until they die. I am writing to request that you immediately take steps to address the horrific conditions in commercial kennels in Pennsylvania, particularly Lancaster County. The laws need to be upgraded to provide better care for the dogs, the regulations need to be rewritten, and enforcement needs to be dramatically enhanced. At a minimum every kennel that does not have a visible, safe source of heat and air-conditioning should be immediately shut down. Given the number of fires at kennels that have killed hundreds of dogs it is obvious that propane is not safe source of heat and should not be allowed.

And we ask that the responsibility for creating the regulations and enforcing them be moved from the Agriculture Department. As has been noted on many occasions including by Senator Greenleaf and past Agriculture Secretary, Charles Brosius, there is an inherent conflict of interest in having the same agency that is supposed to promote an industry be the same agency tasked with investigating that industry.

It is shocking that a state like Pennsylvania would become a haven for such a despicable industry. Such disregard for life mocks decency. I will not visit Lancaster County until the commercial kennels are shut down. I will tell everyone I know not to visit Lancaster County. I could never vacation in a place where such cruelty exists. I will choose to spend my tourist dollar in another location. Please take steps to stop this atrocity.
