We got kicked out of a store I had to go to the mall today to get some boots that I wanted from my work. After I got the boots I went to Charlotte Russe and the associates were smiling at Rocky and saying how cute. Then this b**** comes up to me and "informs" me that dogs aren't allowed in the mall. I have ALWAYS brought Rocky to the mall, and in the past have actually brought my (deceased) 55lb boxer to that mall! I tell her "I always bring him to this mall and to this store, and your workers never told me he's not allowed" so she says "well some people are allergic" and I tell her "I'm aware of that, but he's been in here before, but that's fine we'll shop somewhere else" and head to the door. Then she says "It's not Charlotte Russe's policy, it's the malls and everyone got a memo" (if everyone got a memo, then how come my store manager didn't inform me of this when I was just there???) I said "That's OK! I'll go to the Charlotte Russe in another mall" I don't know if she was trying to pursuade me to come back and shop there or what, but I wont Then we went to Petsmart where of course Rocky is welcome! I did his Bday shopping and spent a little too much, so I gotta go back tomarrow and return some stuff :( But he was happy just to go there, then I took him to my moms work and my mom showed off her grandson to everyone, he loved that too! Atleast everything turned out better for Rocky and I :) |
only walk mart had turned us away so far at the fornt door, but we turned around and went in through the garden dept. and no body seemed to care and i made sure i walked by the lady who told us to leave on my way out, to bad she didnt see me though :( oh well but i havent really explored with my pup yet, every place i go to shop is about 45 mins away so i plan all day events and i dont want to stress out my pup being gone all day, but ill start little by little, but oh well there are other charlottes russes huh :) |

We don't even try wal-mart! They have a sign at the door saying "service dogs only". If we go to walmart, we drop him off at one of his grandmas, or if we just gotta go there for one or two things, I'll wait in the car with him and bf will go in real quick. This is my SECOND bad experience with Charlotte Russe though, the first was when I bought a dress. There was 2 left and one had a sale sticker on it, but the one in my size didnt. I brought both up to the register, but they rang up as original price. PLUS they were on a rack that had a sale sign on it! She wouldn't honor the sale price, and I really needed the dress. She wasn't backing up the stores signs or price tags, but since it was the only dress I found I bought it, and called corporate right away. They were very apologetic, and the store manager called me (it was a different manager who I dealt with) and apogozyed and told me to come in and she'll give me the difference. Plus corproate sent me coupons! Customer service means a lot to me, and if the real store manager and corproate wasn't so nice, I wouldn't have ever walked into that store again. Now after this, I highly doubt I will. |
Sounds like maybe you should find a new store to shop in!:( Really, if it IS a policy...either theirs or the mall...you can't get mad at her for enforcing it. If you don't like it, do as you say...show them by shopping elsewhere!:) |

Yeah, but there clothes are cheaply priced but still cute!!! I understand if it is a policy it's not her fault, that's why I just left. But I honestly think it was just HER personal preference. If it was mall policy, how come my store manager didn't say anything to me, and no one else in other stores or through out the mall said anything? I think if everyone DID get a memo, my manager would've gotten one and atleast warn me about it. |
If the mall has the Picture People place in it they do dog pictures so you have to bring your dog in the mall. |
I go to the malls with dog stores(stores that sell puppies) so if they say something i'll just be like..I just bought this dog what do you want me to do? |
STORES WITH FOOD AREN'T ALLOWED TO HAVE ANIMALS IN THEM IT'S AGAINST THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT CODES opss caps sorry |

It sure does! We brought our dogs there before for pictures too. Patti it was at Gurnee Mills...maybe you should bring Cali and see if anyone says anything too you? My friend is the manager at Abercrombie there so next time I see her I'm going to ask her if she got the memo..if she didn't then I gotta think of what I'm going to do...I don't feel like calling corporate again. |

I know..I think its ridiculous.. as long as the dog isn't running around bothering people, why is it such a big deal!! |
Actually, I would bet that most mall/store policies prohibit dogs that aren't service dogs. Do they consistently enforce it? No, but I bet the policies are there anyway. |
If dog's aren't allowed someplace -- just don't take them there.... I have never had a problem following these rules.... Actually - I don't take my dogs with me when I go shopping - because I know I'll be going in and out of a lot of places where they probably aren't allowed. Carol Jean |
but you know what? small dogs, esp cute lil yorkies, are fashion's biggest accessory. so why can't we shop and bring the little guys, they are part of the oufit ;) . most of the time dogs this size are in a bag or in a person's arms. it seems really silly and most people loove seeing a puppy. and i agree that charlotte russe has really cute stuff, but i've rarely experienced good customer service. I worked in a boutique for awhile and we always prided ourselves about customer service. b/c if you have had someone who's really helped you find something that you LOVE and not pressured you into buying, like a lot of sales people, its something you'll wear over and over again. |
Did you read an article in the NY Times from last week - about the young professionals from the city who treat little dogs as a fashion accessory and try to take them anywhere, one lady takes her Yorkie for outside brunch, someone else took their dog to the bar where she sat on her own stool (the dog that is...). It also stated that 20 percent businesses have dog-friendly policy, allowing you to bring the dog to work with you. But I can't really relate, I wasn't allowed to a mall once carrying Pepper (I was going to Petland there anyway  and the security guard was checking every few minutes if I'm not trying to smuggle the dog into the other part of the mall). |

Yes, our mall allows that too because of the picture place.......but no animals allowed in the food court area. Also, if you purchase a dog from the mall's petshop you can prance him all over the mall........with proof of purchase  |
In our mall, there is one end that has a portrait studio and a Moochi & Co...you can bring your dog in to those two stores ONLY, and only if you bring it in through the side entrance that is closest to the two stores. I support this because (this is going to sound horrible but..) I'm allergic to dogs (hence the Yorkie! no allergies, yay!) and even getting near one makes me itch and my eyes water and I start coughing horribly. I even get annoyed when a person with a service dog comes into my vicinity..(I know I know..horrible!) just because I get so sick from it. You have to look at these people's points of views too, especially in a scenario like a super-crowded mall. |

I sneak my dog in a lot of places. I bring him to the mall all the time but if I go and sit and eat in the food court, I don't let his head stick out. I zip up his bag all the way and no one knows he is in there. No one has ever said anything to me but I try to be curtious around food and such. Purses that you can sneak and a quiet dog is the key. Unfortunatly, Sparks isn't alwayts consistantly quiet. He squeaks...:-) So I don't take him places that I have to hide him too much. suz |

I agree..customer service is everything! This weekend while at work I had 2 people complain to me about the customer service they recieve while there! They didn't have a problem with me and were happy that I greeted them and helped them, but weren't happy about the others. How sad is that...and I'm like the newest employee there and I'm just a sales associate. |
I had no idea that dogs weren't allowed in malls, so I took him to Kings Plaza, a mall in Brooklyn and walked him around on his leash. I do pick him up when I go into a store, although when I'm looking at an an item, I can't hold him, so I put him down. At the mall, a security guard saw me walking him and asked me to please pick him up because dogs aren't allowed to walk around the mall. I was taking a drink of water, so I took my time. The guard asked me again and I said, "I will - I was just finishing my water." Everything worked out fine. My little supermarket lets him in, so do most of my stores in my neighborhood if I carry him. One cashier got a little snippy because I wasn't holding him. She got a really dirty look from me and from Max, but I decided she wasn't worth the time to answer her. Restaurants aren't allowed to let him in, but there are dog friendly places in Brooklyn - bars that sell food mostly. Yesterday I went to Quiznos, stood by the door and waited for the cashier. I told him my order and that I would wait outsdide. He brought me my order, I tipped him a dollar and off we went. Out of NY, there ae many places that are really dog friendly, with water bowls outside for dogs and so on. There was only one clothing store that wouldn't let him in - and they went out of business. Bad karma! I guess we dog owners have to play it by ear, do trial and error, and take the attitude that it is okay to bring my dog in if I hold him. Never ask, just do it. Judy |

The only time I've had trouble with anyone is on those trips to Tx actually. I was also told he couldn't go into the rest room with me at a rest stop. I stopped down the interstate, and found a place where I could pee! My Tx trips are a 10 hour drive! I've learned though on those trips, to just leave my cash in the bank, and pay at the pumps now. But I'm not going to push rules of anywhere. If it says no pets, and I have mine with me, we just don't go. And I have no problem with leaving them at home when I go places they aren't allowed. |
I usually don't take Maizee shopping with me because she's not allowed anywhere and I just don't want to find different ways to sneak her in and I'm fine shopping without her (she probably is too). But I don't understand why they don't allow dogs, but like someone said earlier, people with other allergies have to suffer through other things. I am allergic to smoke and of course smoking is not allowed in most stores, but you enter or exit the building and you are walking through a huge cloud of smoke. . That sure is annoying, considering I can't see for the rest of the day, I cough all day, and my throat will hurt. It's pretty awesome. |

hahaha .. i would think that being part of YT we are ALL above the 'paris hilton' aspect of it. I was just refering to the accessory thing b/c I am not only a yorkie addict but a project runway addict and they had this episode where designers had to make outfits for little dogs. |
oh one more thing, yes I do agree its horrible when people buy a certain breed of dog b/c it is the 'IT' thing. a dog is a living thing and is a commitment. and what will those people do when the dog is 'out of style' .. return it?? hah! its kind of like what happened a long time ago when 101 dalmations came out and parents were buy dalmations for their kids and then realized it was a bad idea, resulting in a lot of dalmations being re-homed/abandoned. all i know is I love my baby, and he'll always be in-style to me ;) |
